GRamerDim Posted Thursday at 05:57 PM Posted Thursday at 05:57 PM Before eveyroje gets their pitchforks and torches out, here me out! I know most people don't like monthly subscriptions but in my opinion the model of it sort of fits in DCS. If a weekly/monthly subscription model for both aircraft and maps were to be implemented it would sit between a full purchase of an individual module and the 2 week trial feature. Pricing obviously should be less than what an actual module costs. I'd love to hear everyone's opinions, both positive and negative which I'm expecting there'll be a decent amount. Try to keep them civil and any counter points should be constructive.

Northstar98 Posted Friday at 04:24 PM Posted Friday at 04:24 PM Oh my God, not again. No. This has been discussed to death. Exorcet Posted Friday at 05:32 PM Posted Friday at 05:32 PM Subscriptions are price gouging at best and scams at worst. They offer no benefit to DCS but come with plenty of downsides. 2 Awaiting: DCS F-15C Win 10 i5-9600KF 4.6 GHz 64 GB RAM RTX2080Ti 11GB -- Win 7 64 i5-6600K 3.6 GHz 32 GB RAM GTX970 4GB -- A-10C, F-5E, Su-27, F-15C, F-14B, F-16C missions in User Files
Wolf1964 Posted Friday at 05:35 PM Posted Friday at 05:35 PM No...so many software providers are trying this on...and so many people have left them for other options. Besides, I've spent money to support DCS for a reason...to help them develop. I and other people on low incomes might not be able to afford a subscription based DCS and it might throw up legal arguments for people that have bought modules. 1

MAXsenna Posted 16 hours ago Posted 16 hours ago The potential of having a subscription model as an addition to purchasing modules is not a bad idea, if that's what OP is asking for. Then one could choose. Sent from my SM-A536B using Tapatalk 1
Hiob Posted 15 hours ago Posted 15 hours ago It feels like groundhog day again…. No, absolutely frickin’ no! I’m sick and tired of subscription models creeping in on every aspect of life - and I think I’m not alone with that. So my heartfelt THANK YOU to ED, who fortunately rejected the idea every time it comes up! 2 "Muß ich denn jedes Mal, wenn ich sauge oder saugblase den Schlauchstecker in die Schlauchnut schieben?"

I mean, you could, but the only scenario I see a subscription making sense is if you don't plan on staying around very long - over a long enough time (how much depending on how expensive the subscription is compared to what we have now) the perpetual will always be cheaper and offer better value for money. 1 Modules I own: F-14A/B, F-4E, Mi-24P, AJS 37, AV-8B N/A, F-5E-3, MiG-21bis, F-16CM, F/A-18C, Supercarrier, Mi-8MTV2, UH-1H, Mirage 2000C, FC3, MiG-15bis, Ka-50, A-10C (+ A-10C II), P-47D, P-51D, C-101, Yak-52, WWII Assets, CA, NS430, Hawk. It really depends of the price of the subscription, and how long you've planed to stay. In the long run paying full price of front will be cheaper.I'm not sure how much I've paid, but I don't think I'm far off with USD2000 the last ten years. So that will be cheaper than UAD19.90 every month for 10 years. Sent from my SM-A536B using Tapatalk

Were DCS modules ever sold as hard copies? Download is malarkey? That doesn’t make sense… This doesn’t strike me as the type of game someone would rent. It’s not like some game you play through in 20 hours or so and then quit. Those possibly made sense to rent but not this. i9-14900KS | ASUS ROG MAXIMUS Z790 HERO | 64GB DDR5 5600MHz | iCUE H150i Liquid CPU Cooler | ASUS TUF GeForce RTX 4090 OC | Windows 11 Home | 2TB Samsung 980 PRO NVMe | Corsair RM1000x | LG 48GQ900-B 4K OLED Monitor | CH Fighterstick | Ch Pro Throttle | T.Flight Rudder Pedals | TrackIR 5
Kang Posted 7 hours ago Posted 7 hours ago The bizarre wish for subscriptions is malarkey. And yes, in some places DCS modules were sold as hard copies for a while. It's actually how I got to DCS in the first place. 1
