Unfortunately, nobody wants to touch it with a stick.

Now i'm really curious why. For me that could only mean there is one reason for it. ED is going to surprise us with a F-16. Otherwise i would see no other Logical reason.

* Why because of BMS? Do only they have the right to make a detailed F-16 for a simulator/game?

* Classified > I can partially understand this. But a BMS level F-16 would be ok as well right?

* To hard to make? What i have seen fro ED is that nothing is to hard to make :) They even making the F-18C. That should be on the same level right?

Go in close, and when you think you are too close, go in closer.

Some promising developer will take on the challenge. Whoever does it will make their mark or make their exit....

Search is your friend. Not too long ago VEAO have made a statement why they won't do it, IIRC.

Good, fast, cheap. Choose any two.

This got brought up recently in one of our threads as well.

The problem with VEAO d ping an F16 is a couple of points

1) BMS is out there and we would be competing with a very established market.

2) Being primarily in the UK we have no access or contacts for any variant of the F-16

3) There is still a good portion of the F-16 thats classified.

We made the decision that unless a military contract comes along we can't do an F-16

Obviously this just applies to VEAO some of the other 3rd parties will have their reasons.

I personally am looking forward to more cold war jets :)

My assumption is that the market for professional F-16 simulators is quite saturated by now.

i think the F-16 is already on the internal todo - List of ED. They just wait till the engine has all required and some additional features. If they doing it right they can suckup the whole falcon community, but that requires some features that we dont have at the moment.

It could be also some Oculus Consumer Version launch title, because that would be also some massive sells multiplicator, but that's just 'my' look in the crystal ball

It was long time ago, but i suspect that project has lost momentum. There's been no mention of it on any roadmaps lately, except for the occasional tin foil brigadist.

Thats well said, I agree  Also don't forget avionics side of things, ED gets it right per there standard or it does not get released or mentioned.

I can see this thread being merged into the wishlist, but for what it's worth doing the F-16 in the DCS environment offers a lot more potential than BMS. The sticking point in capturing the BMS market IMHO, is the lack of dynamic campaign in DCS. Hopefully this will be addressed in the not too distant future. :)

DCS F-16C Block 50/52 with Operation Desert Storm Theater

Hi all,

I agree, a DCS F-16C Block 50/52 would be awesome especially since we have Cortex Design developing the F/A-18E. So I decide to copy paste my input from another Forum.

There is also this thread...... http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=95985 :music_whistling::(

Over the years and as time goes by through public freedom of information much classified material on the F-16 has been released as restricted material for public use and through open source channels. This makes it a good time to develop a DCS F-16C Block 50/52, with combat gaming becoming the norm in house hold entertainment today like Ghost Recon, Battlefield 4, DCS WORLD + Combined Arms and ARMAIII so on, DCS will only benefit. Personally I disagree that defense forces make all this stuff available for public use under freedom of information as restricted documentation, but thats what they state on the documents.

COMPLIANCE WITH THIS PUBLICATION IS MANDATORY

ACCESSIBILITY:

Publications and forms are available on the e-Publishing website at www.e-publishing.af.mil/ for downloading or ordering.

RELEASABILITY:

There are no releasability restrictions on this publication.

One of the reasons why there is so much declassified information on the F-16 I was told is because its an international fighter jet across many nations with many commonalities and shared systems, so with freedom of information much has been disclosed about the F-16. But it is allowed and most of the real sensitive stuff is taken out, not in circulation.

It would be wise for a 3rd Party Developer to implement a DCS USAF F-16C Block 50/52 with the Nevada or ODS Theater on the way with EDGE project.

We can only hope, DCS F-16 is no doubt top of the list for many of us DCS customers. I also suspect ED will be taking this one on themselves, I hope somebody does anyway. The fact that BMS exists is no reason for ED, or any other third party developer not to try and better it. I'm sure they can once EDGE and a few new features arrive within DCS. I'd love to see it, hopefully in the not too distant future.

I have a viper pilot USAF contact who flies BMS and claims it is better than professional simulators in important respects. If any 3rd party developer needs a professional contact for a DCS F-16 he should send me a PM. BMS avionics are about 90% accurate, so if the DCS version were 95% accurate it could be successful.

So the prehistoric BMS is the pinnacle of flight sims, this is one of the reasons it's not in DCS? Very lame,in other words if we have to compete with another version of an aircraft we wont make it,maybe thats why the Hornet is taking forever.

To add some fuel to the fire ... we all know and complain about how slow development done by ED is. Or seems to be.

... what if ... I mean, what if this is because they were working on a big, BIG "side"-project (or rather The Next Big Thing since the invention of LOMAC/DCS)? What if that is (still) the F-16?

Imagine, one morning you see a posting by Wags: "DCS: F-16 Fighting Fookin' Falcon is now available for pre purchase". The forums will explode. The e-store will collapse ...

(hrm? allright, I show myself the way out already ...:D)
