shagrat the purpose of this mission was just to check if the wind can affect autolase fail error:) But after you said

I thought that it's possible to hit the target even with such wind and I'm just doing something wrong:megalol:

Well, yeah if it is 15 may be 20kts, but not 90kts plus! Hmm, I should try against the wind... in theory if you drop behind the target the wind should blow it back on target?! :music_whistling::megalol:

If I my join the discussion...

I think I have found reason and solution.

I flew according to a tutorial to learn laser bombs. Targets of the tutorial are - to hit Oil station with GBU-10 (that I always succeeded) and to hit 5 armored targets with GBU-12 (I managed to hit 1 or 2 before getting autolase fail).

In the screenshot you posted in your original description, the TGP is off (or rather, it's just starting up). As far as I know lasing won't work without the TGP.

So whatever else goes wrong doesn't matter. Why is your TGP just starting in that screenshot?

When you hit a target and then miss other targets because of "Autolase fail", is your TGP off as well?

The only (relatively) reliable way to help you is if you post a track of your mission (*). Can you do that?

(*) Now that's an interesting dilemma. Do I understand correctly that the mission came with the DCS A-10C Special Edition of PC Pilot and that people are not allowed to upload said mission? Since a track always includes the original mission, uploading a track might violate PC Pilot's terms of use. Anyone know if they'd be offended (BeachAV8R?)?

So it became obvious that I have had to consider wind and drop bombs along one radial (don't know how to check wind in dcs), also I increased laser time from 10 seconds (according to the tutorial, not sure why it should be 10) to 12 seconds and as a result I have hitted all the targets !

10 to 12 seconds lase time is usually recommended. Personally, when using autolase, I set 10 seconds lase time and my bombs hit > 90%. With manual lasing, I also start to lase 10 seconds before impact and get a very good hit rate.

In any case, whether lasing 10 or 12 seconds doesn't have anything to do with the "Autolase fail" error you've been getting, or does it?

Edit: PM'd BeachAV8R to get feedback regarding track files from PC Pilot missions.

I posted a screenshot were I already got a fail. So I will post screenshot a second before autolasefail and it will clarify the state of the systems including TGP.

That is not the point... The "Not timed out" message on the right MFCD is indicating, that the TGP is still spooling up... It takes 3minutes after you switched the TGP switch on the AACP (below the left MFCD)...

Did you start that mission in air? Or did you ramp start the A-10C.

I started mission on the ground, according to mission scenario I already hit oil station and 1 - 2 tanks (ofcourse with TGP turned on) before I got the fail.

So a track would really be pretty helpful! Sounds strange it works in the first runs, then fails... Any chance you got hit? Or maybe it is a triggered system failure in the mission itself?

Do you get the same issue when using manual lasing (10-12seconds before impact)?

My guess would be it's a random failure. I get it once in a while and we are running random failure on our server. Normally it clears if you press ACK on OSB 11 and thenyou can give a go again.

Once in a while I also get TGP XERROR, there is an explanation for it here; http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=85100

So when it comes to strafing, is it normal that a BTR or a tank MG has a 50/50 chance of damaging my gun? It feels like I have to hose enemy units from an insane distance in order not to get critically damaged.

And that's not even saying anything about BMP2/3. I have taken serious damage from these things while flying at 5000+ feet. If I don't manoeuvre constantly it feels like they are nearly 100% accurate.

None of these units have specialized systems for tracking fast moving aerial targets, and surely they don't have equipment to compute firing solutions with radars etc. So how can a manually operated gun like that on a BTR or BMP lead a fast moving air target with such accuracy?

Seriously, I wouldn't mind them trying to shoot me, but they are better at AA than shilkas are.

Surely this is a bug right, will it be fixed?

Known bug! The BMP AI is horribly accurate against air targets.

The BTR also, but with a less devastating gun...

Let's hope for DCS2...

Sorry, I could not upload as it is an attachment to paid magazine.

As I understand the systems - I do not lase.

May be the issue is not the wind directly, but the plane stability.

Hello taiyang - I checked with my editor at PC Pilot (I'm the author of the article), and we have no problem with you uploading your track for the purposes you describe. I hope someone can help you answer your question... I'll see what I can dig up too.

Erm, if I access the Inv/Stores and change settings there and load the station again - can it be that a profile I created before resets, too?

Because my CBU 87 wouldn't release when I tried to drop it in CCRP. It did look like a CCRP HUD, though.

And nerf the MiG29!

Quick question:

What is the 'proper name' in the controls page for the transmit key for the three radios in the A-10C, as well as their corresponding keyboard commands ?

Mic Switch in the HOTAS section.

Quick question again:

Is there any fix I can do regarding the HUD ?

Right now it seems that the items in the HUD barely fits on the HUD screen itself. I can't see both the airspeed and altitude indicator in one spot.. I have to shift my head left and right in order to see them.. I used to recall the HUD lettering being smaller and can fit in the HUD screen.

Move your default head position forward a bit and it should fix it

You can only move your head back as far as possible while still being able to see the hud contents within the hud frame. There is no way to reduce the size of the hud contents as a whole. Reducing the text size does not solve the problem because all other HUD content will still be too large.

Every so often press the Num 5 and then the Num Enter keys to rest your normal front view. If you have a Track IR device, center that, too.

Pardon the late reply, but real life got in the way :(

@P*funk

Havnt changed a thing. Already tried a DCS repair to no avail.

@McBlemmen

I use a track ir. How exactly do I go about doing this ? Centering my track IR (Track IR center) does not do it.

@ Wrecking Crew

Already tried that, no avail.

Is there any config file I can use to mess about with the default positioning of the head ? That might work.

Better yet; if it can be done in game.

Thanks for the help.
