MemphisBelle Posted November 11, 2012 Posted November 11, 2012 (edited) I distinctly remember forum posts stating those who purchased the original beta will get the Nevada terrain free when it was finished. If this is not the case then frankly i am going to be as annoyed as all others who purchased the early A10 beta. You might remember that one: 3- Nevada map. This will be compatible with A-10C, Black Shark 2, and FC3. Users that purchased the A-10C beta will get this map for free. which you find here Edited November 11, 2012 by MemphisBelle BlackSharkDen | BSD Discord | DCS Tutorial Collection
MemphisBelle Posted November 11, 2012 Posted November 11, 2012 (edited) Memphis, you keep rambling that Nevada was NOT a pre-purchase feature. Nate, a member of ED testing team, clearly stated the opposite. You keep saying that prepurchasers are NOT entitled to a free Nevada map. Nate said that prepurchasers WILL get a free Nevada map. And Nate posted this yesterday. THAT. this is not true. I said that Nevada is free for purchasers, as Wags has stated in his roadmap...I didnt ever said somethings else. And Nate by the way is saying the same as I do. Navada is free for those who bought A-10C while it was in beta...but Nevada nontheless was never part of the product itself (and the final product is the one that matters here)...this is a huge different Originally Posted by Nate--IRL-- No. It was originally a feature of the A-10 product. It was removed from A-10 feature list when A-10 was released. But people had already pre-purchased A-10 with the expectation of Nevada. As such their expectation of getting Nevada will be honoured. People who did not pre-purchase A-10, will not get Nevada for free. Why should you get Nevada for free? Nate What have I said over all the posts? have I said somethings else than he did? No! by the way...only official announcements are things that count... Edited November 11, 2012 by MemphisBelle BlackSharkDen | BSD Discord | DCS Tutorial Collection

MemphisBelle Posted November 11, 2012 Posted November 11, 2012 for me to make a point under this discussion...I am one of those who purchased in beta...and I really hope to get it fro free...what does not mean, that it really will be for free...we´ll see. Hope we can now get back to normal life again BlackSharkDen | BSD Discord | DCS Tutorial Collection
ishtmail Posted November 11, 2012 Posted November 11, 2012 Wags wants to be fair to all of you, but those decisions are not made by Wags AFAIK. I assume Wags (and Nate) does not write something on a public forum which wouldn't already be agreed upon within ED. So, if Wags writes that prepurchasers will get Nevada for free, I assume this is an official ED opinion on this matter. It would be quite problematic for ED's public relations, maybe even devastating for ED's reputation, if an official team member would give public promises which ED does not intend to keep. OttoPus Posted November 16, 2012 Posted November 16, 2012 I found an interesting paper about terrain engine creation, you can find it here http://dice.se/wp-content/uploads/GDC12_Terrain_in_Battlefield3.pdf Is this kind of tech we are expecting from EDGE? I assume, of course, that outsourcing 3D engine (I.E. Frostbite 2 or Outerra) is not cost-effective for ED business plans.

112th_Rossi Posted November 16, 2012 Posted November 16, 2012 Probably too much processing overhead for a flight simulator. I'm wondering though, is Nevada part of the EDGE engine?

chromium Posted November 17, 2012 Posted November 17, 2012 those are 3 pages and you can see something interesting about Nevada. http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=71156 Author of DSMC, mod to enable scenario persistency and save updated miz file Stable version & site: https://dsmcfordcs.wordpress.com/ Openbeta: https://github.com/Chromium18/DSMC The thing is, helicopters are different from planes. An airplane by it's nature wants to fly, and if not interfered with too strongly by unusual events or by a deliberately incompetent pilot, it will fly. A helicopter does not want to fly. It is maintained in the air by a variety of forces in opposition to each other, and if there is any disturbance in this delicate balance the helicopter stops flying; immediately and disastrously.
