According to performance: Is there any chance that radeon owners get decent framerate? I mean it's kind a frustrating to own high-end GPU, that runs most demanding games flawlessly, and get my butt kicked in terms of FPS by 4-years old nVidia's.

It's too early for this kind of question.

Good, fast, cheap. Choose any two.

Not for the devs. Imho after the release could be too late... :smilewink:

Yes because the first exposure to any amd drivers is going to be after they release EDGE to us.

its been said you would have to rebuild it for the new tools I believe.

Yes. But will they give us the tools so we can do exactly that? Not only rebuild the Caucasus region, but perhaps add some other parts of the world as a community project?

An easy to use terrain editor (think Outerra) AND the mission editor. Imagine the possibilities...

Also, a constant flow of community-generated content might give ED some breathing room because users are busy generating and flying new maps etc.

Hell, they might even consider giving the content creators some benefits like store credit when they deliver outstanding work.

Some stuff takes long because ED don't have that many people to work on things. So let some of the work be done by the community. We love that stuff. Just imagine the increase in features and quality if they incorporated many of the great mods already available into the official build AND give them some user-friendly tools so basically everybody can support DCS with content.

According to this, the tools were supposed to be available already.

You've asked for it. We've discussed it. Now we're very happy to announce that we will be releasing the EDGE landscape engine SDK to Kickstarter backers.

The SDK can be used to create new landscapes for the DCS WWII project. It's an all-in-one tool that combines a 3D object library, texture manager, and a landscape editor.

With a full 24-hour day cycle, options for multiple seasons and time periods on the same map, and industry-best level of detail, EDGE is designed for and tested by real pilots to ensure it meets the highest standards of realism.

Please note that the Normandy landscape shown in the video is an early mock-up using temporary stand-in objects, mock-up trees, and low-quality placeholder textures.

We're really hoping that the community can organize a concentrated effort to design and create one or more new landscapes for DCS WWII. With the amount of time we have before the initial release, it should be possible to have them completed for the day-one release of Europe 1944!

A more detailed look at the tools and the technical details of the design process will be released at a later time. The SDK itself should be available later this year. Please note that the SDK will be released to project backers only and / or will require a signed NDA to use.

I did not. It has yet to be offered.

Btw, did you back the kickstarter? This is a backer only deal according to Ilya. ;)

Which is one of the sillier statements made during the kickstarter.

So, if I get the full SDK for backing the WW2 Kickstarter, then I'm happy and all I need is the NDA! Looking forward to it.

But I also hope that at some later point, the SDK will become available to all. The massive amount of content available for other simulators due to the availability of the free tools is testament to what a community can do. Of course there is a lot of junk in the freeware area, but there are many gems that I wouldn't want to miss.

I also remember that ED said something about allowing 3rd parties to do a lot more than just aircraft. Looking forward to this becoming a reality...
