Ok Matt I know you are out there somewhere. How is the integration progressing for EDGE? You been quiet on this topic for a while buddy. :) :pilotfly:

Seems we were getting very close to a release, but all of a sudden nothing more has been said about Nevada. I to would like some info given it was so close to release a month ago.

I am sure when there is something new to tell they will tell us, thats usually how DCS updates work.

I see where you are coming from, but you would think there would be something new to say after another months work on it. That is unless they have stopped work on it in which case there would be nothing new to say. Even a few new screens shots or an update about how it has progressed in the last month would be better then saying nothing at all. People need something else to get exited about instead of just reading about bug fixes.

I'm assuming once we get the Nevada map, we'll have the tools to make additional ones (eg. Middle East)?

Probably not for a few yrs...

The only way to make sense out of change is to plunge into it, move with it, and join the dance.

Eh? Years? Surely not. Surely it's in ED's interest to let out these tools for map builders, mission builders etc. not that I'm one of these mind you, I just don't see why they wouldn't want to integrate 3rd party devs into that side as well as aircraft builders

There isnt any concrete news on the tools, the closest being that RRG promised the tools to all its backers, but no idea when or if that will happen. I am sure they are more focused on getting EDGE and NEvada out to us, all the other stuff will come later.

only ED knows reasons for anything that relates to this. However lets keep this thread on topic with discussion about the Nevada map and not the speculation on when/ who/ why/ how terrain tools will come out

So with Nevada comes EDGE and as Wags posted, "it's always the last 10%..."

Hopefully, soon.

I know that no one has announced any plans, but I am curious if Nevada/Edge could be a Beta release for testing by the masses?

Well, I am bit sad. It's been said integration probably will end on December. It is February now - it is not 2 week slow down. It is 2.5 months lol.

Actually, it is a couple of years since the A-10C Beta... but I like to quote a famous movie; "Patience, young Padawan!" - Qui-Gon Jin, Episode I :smilewink:

When it's done, it's done. And if it is half as decent as the screenshots and videos propose, it will be worth any minute of the wait.

Probably not a wise assumption.

If anything, a similar thing will be set up as per third parties for aircraft. Signing a license agreement for building a map to get the tools, etc. I guess time will tell. :)

Quit while you're ahead, and before it turns into an Argument.

Integration of the GFX Engine and the NTTR Assets were never said to be done by the end of December. There were "hopes" that it would, but it was never any announced time frame.

There's no point in randomly posting about assumed delays.

Actually, it is a couple of years since the A-10C Beta... but I like to quote a famous movie; "Patience, young Padawan!" - Qui-Gon Jin, Episode I :smilewink:

And the "couple years since A-10C beta", there are several reasons for that,

A. It's not the same GFX Engine

B. It's not the same Graphical Assets.

The Graphics Engine had to be Coded First, then the Assets had to be re-done from scratch for the new Graphics Engine.

Trust me, Moving from DX9, and the old Engine to a new Engine will open the door...

will edge have the capability to have nuclear weapons? so you could do like some kind of WWIII scenario?

if the current map runs on a DX10 Base, even in it's current untouched/unmodified form,

it will benefit greatly over DX9 with the number of objects on the map.

Moving from DX9x to DX10 reduces CPU Overhead on drawcalls by 20+% Alone,

DX10 is also coded to use General Purpose Shader Processors more efficiently than DX9c.

Unless someone manages to write a softTH version that works with dx11 I hope for us multi-screen/cockpit users that there is gonna be a dx9 option for Nevada

We would need bigger maps if you wanted to start going Nuclear.
