Will the Neveda(NTTR)map be only free for those purchased the VERY FIRST VERSION A10c

I saw that the ED tester posted that the NTTR will be free to those who preordered the A-10C beta. Does that mean only those who buy the very first version of A-10C can get the map for free or anyone who purchased the A-10C can get a free new map?

IF you brought the Beta [which had the map] then you get it free.

The only way to make sense out of change is to plunge into it, move with it, and join the dance.

And take care that not all the beta version does had it: you may check this cause:

1. You paid more, If I remember right it was 59.99 $

2. You had the old beta map available to fly.

The thing is, helicopters are different from planes. An airplane by it's nature wants to fly, and if not interfered with too strongly by unusual events or by a deliberately incompetent pilot, it will fly. A helicopter does not want to fly. It is maintained in the air by a variety of forces in opposition to each other, and if there is any disturbance in this delicate balance the helicopter stops flying; immediately and disastrously.

WOW the new EDGE grass is awesome:)

I used to watch the new il2 clod videos and think that DCS deserves that grass... and we finally have it.

I wonder if there are different grass types that match the colour of the ground they are placed on. IMO that´s the biggest weak spot of the current grass.

A couple of early work in progress shots of new grass, the AI MiG-15bis and depth of field OPTION.

sorry Matt, but we have a missing "depth of field OPTION" screenshot :( however the new grass is looking good (dense) and the mig-15 looks very detailed

and thanks for the new eyecandy

Looks like it. The grass in shot matches the wheat colour of the ground.

If they weren't using the 'depth-of-field' option in the grass image then there is a problem.

From my perspective, if you are going to show off the grass, having it out of focus is somewhat self defeating.

True, however like cichlidfan said depth of field is enabled in the first screenshot.

Depth of field is a simple ON/OFF option. When enabled, it makes your subject matter (object in F-2) look normal while everything else close / far blurry. It's great for taking screenshots.... Screenshot with Mi-8 shows that perfectly.

In this case, it defeats the purpose of the image which was, one would think, to show off the grass detail.

As for the DoF effect. We know what it is, and what it does, so further demonstrations are of limited value.

I have Eagle Dynamic Products under 3 accounts. does this mean i have to buy the Nevada Terrain 3 times? I have 3 accounts because i have three computers.... two PCs running to have human players to fly with each other, and the 3rd computer as the dedicated server...

I would assume you would, that it will be like aircraft...

oh, i see, thanks Dmitry

clearly understandable why only the subject is sharp on the screenshot and other objects are blurry

i guess unfortunately this DOF wont work with F11 view, however would be nice to use manual focus on a camera (for other views as well F4, F11 view etc.), like another keys for change the DOF manually like narrow/wide view as, same keys would be usable with other alt/ctrl/win/shift combos

I love the new DOF feature. As mentioned, its an option, so those who can't stand it can turn it off. DOF gives a great sense of "depth" to the visuals. :p

I love the effect, too, it´s great for impressive screenshots, but I think it will cause some problems in a game like DCS World.

If you are visually tracking an aircraft and your eyes are focused on this distant object, in reality your eyes will need only a very short moment to focus on the instruments in the cockpit to check on something and then go back to tracking the distant Bandit again.

This very rapid eye movement and change in focus is something the DoF cannot simulate adequately, so I fear you will be stuck with a rather static effect and much slower transitions between the two "planes" (focus point) and additionally, it can probably only be controlled by head movement, not your eyes...

As much as I like the effect, I´ll probably end up deactivating it.

I wonder if that grass moves when a helicopter lands on it (or hovers over it). That would be most awesome.

Look at the picture. Does it look flattened around the helo? No.
