75Hz Screen,

= 75 Refreshes Per Second

= 0.013333333333333333333333333333333 Seconds Per frame

= 13.333333333333333925 MS Per Frame.

The thing that needs to be low MS Response time is the Individual PX

A Screen can display 75 Fields Per second, but if it takes the individual Pixels longer than say 8 ms to change from red to blue or white to black, then you start having issues with ghosting, bleed colors, etc etc.

Pixel response time should be 5ms or lower, I run my games on 2MS response time Screens, and when I goto the other PC that uses an older 7MS Response time LCD, you can see some artifacts/ghosting due to the slow pixels in action / panning scenes.

I could not resist and pre-order DK2. Due to invoice number, I am 184455-th in the list...

Dont worry, from what I understand the invoice numbers are scrambled so the number doesnt mean much.

hey mate!as you are from vienna as well, i wonder if there would be any chance to try it out once you have it? ;)

the beer is on me!

Sure, no problem! I have a DK1 already, so you can try that one out too if you want.

Their forum said that that number is randomized so that people will not guess when they will be next in line.

Did anyone already get a full charge vs 55$? I was under impression that first they charged 55 and then when shipment ready, they would charge full amount.

Thx, feels better now :)

In my case, they charge all amount and immediately recharge it minus $50.

awesome!

now the question, wieselburger or ottakringer?:)

Actually Gösser Radler if anything, not that much of a beer guy. ;)

Catch a train down here to Graz and we'll pop the MiG-21's VR cherry. :pilotfly:

Damn, so tempting...

well, no train needed...tomorrow im going to fly to graz in a katana...sure its a bit tight, but there is enough room for mhe and the oculus!

Haven't flown Katanas for quite some time, only lots of Cessna experience. Would be an interesting road trip, but I have to work on sunday and saturday is already fully booked. :(

Based on tomshardware charts and other benchmarking charts we are in big trouble with the RIFT and compute power.

I'm thinking an full desktop 135watt i7-4core and (2) SLI 770's are going to be the minimum to make the DK2 work smoothly with all games and everything turned on. That should get 75fps in most games in stereo 3d at 1920x1080 with it all on.

But I'm thinking if they goto 2560x1440 for consumer then even (3) 770's SLI or even (3) 780's might not be able to do it smoothly with all the goodness on.

Time to start saving for many GPUs and a new desktop gamer.

Mikey, I think you are getting this slightly wrong: as I understand it there will be increased demand for graphics in that the rift will have to render once For each eye but you don't have to have a system capable of running games at 75 or 90fps. That is more like the refresh rate of the rift, like current monitors can be 120hz but you can still play games at 30fps

Of coarse you can run it at low frame rates. But the specs for running in the rift really want you to be able to do 75 fps not to get sick. They want it to be solid at fast fps. That said I'm perfectly happy to play with my DK1 at 25-45 fps right now.

But at oculus they definately want game makers to create games that will run solidly at very high fps. I don't think they'd think a 30fps game was considered rift ready.

i get over 30 Frames per second running maxed on 2 viewports at 960x1080.

I suspect we'll have EDGE/DX11 Support before Rift is released, so I'm positive that a single Mid-High Tier GPU will run DCS on Rift fine.

Yeah I think a lot of people think it will have to render 1080p(Dk2) or 1440p(hopefully CV1) for each eye when in reality it is rendering half that per eye. That being said, on the current engine I get 50-60 depending on what is going on(with 1 viewpoint @1440p)... Well I do get lower when looking through the TGP at towns with AI in them.

I wonder if low persistence will help with the lower framerate or at least the stuttering.

Edit:

Oh and rift doesn't do 3d like a 3d monitor where it needs the high fps to alternate the images. But from what I am hearing you need it for less motion sickness.

One day (long time I know) I think it would be cool to see DCS in 8k/eye @240hz :)
