Well in case of the Hornet, what do you expect them to come up with every week while the module is in development? Every week the same line of "development on the Hornet is ongoing" or "Hey, our artists are hard at work and there's nothing to show off for now, but our software devs make good progress, the stuff they wrote isn't finished yet, but marvel at those 500 lines of code they wrote, beautiful, innit?", people would start to complain that they don't want to hear the same line every week...

I dont know sobek it seems like CptSmiley has a nice ambition of taking this approach.

Hey All, the holidays have given me a chance to really getting into the swing of things. Got the cockpit and flight model now interfacing with the help of more experienced 3rd party devs. I also got a rudimentary gear system going but the collision model still needs some tweaking. Also, you are seeing a WIP engine model so it is perfect (no losses, no lags, etc..) so that is why it jumps into the air so quick...your lates 60s era genearation engine won't spool up so nicely in the real model.

I've also got the aerodynamics for the flaps and air brake implemented.

A million more things to work one. High on the list is integration of the very high/low alpha aerodynamics and stability derivatives that I've yet to convert from the research papers to data tables. The other thing is continue work on the engine system. Those might be a couple/few more weeks till I have an initial demo of that out to you guys.

But we are getting to the point our team is learning enough that it isn't a matter of "how do we do this", it's "how long will it take to get it done" :) which is a very good thing.

EDIT: Oh and if guys all don't laugh at me about all the initial obvious flaws that are still WIP, I'll continue to happily push out these small increment progress videos! It'll be cool to see the progression later when this guy is up and running and in your hands

If there is indeed development going with the F-18C is would be nice to have a peek at something rather than nothing. But considering the complexity of the F-18 compared to the T-2, ED might not be at a stage to show anything that may be worth showing. :pilotfly:

So much is done in a week's work and yet so few. I like these weekly updates, no matter the redundancy of the obvious 'ongoing development' and 'WIP'. Though I'm mostly waiting for the new Graphic engine/IG news. I hope their Summer sale was a big success and the possible Steam support raising in the horizon helps in bringing solid and steady income to get all these projects moving that much faster.

Good on him, but not every software developer is also a PR type of person. Also you have to realize that english is not their native tongue, so some of them are a bit hesitant to engage in conversation with the international community. They can be seen conversing much more on the russian part of the forum.

Good, fast, cheap. Choose any two.

Yep, not sure why some don't seem to understand that there isn't always something new to report. It's one thing to ask prior to when Wag's weekly updates came out, but to now act like every week should be a fireside chat on IG, F-18C, etc. is just ridiculous. It should be obvious that if Wags doesn't bring it up, then there isn't anything new to talk about. He shouldn't have to spell out "nothing new on that front", grown boys and girls should be able to figure that one out themselves.

The third parties also seem to take a lot of flak when nothing is shown, seems to be even worse than what ED takes sometimes. So some of that may be just to get people off their back.

Still no info on the Nevada map. I've spent enough money on DCS modules. I won't be buying anymore DCS or 3rd party modules until I see the Nevada map released.

By the looks of it you may have to pay for that, unless of course you were an A-10C pre-order purchaser.

I'm cringing at releasing 1.2.5 "sometime in July..."

It's great news of course- but on a selfish level we're doing a SimHQ fly in on the 2nd-4th of August and I'm willing to wager that just like our last event (1.2.3 was introduced RIGHT before our last fly in), we may be left scrambling to address unexpected hiccups and challenges.

At least it's for the sake of progress!

Or you could just do what me and all my friends always did.

Evaluate the patch for stability, performance, any new lag issues, any new netcode issues, and of course mission issues. If its not working hold off on updating.

Best thing I ever learned about DCS was that you don't need to launch the game through the updater. :P

I am an A-10C pre-order purchaser. Just not sure if I'll see it in my lifetime. :)

Great to see the Su-33 got some lovin' :)

Keep it up guys, I hope you have time to make that small adjustments to the 27-th cockpit and update it to the 33.

That approach wouldn't really work well with a large public fly in.

Honestly, this is starting to get bit silly... creating threads every week in anticipation of official update thread

I tend to agree. On the flipside, though, it's waaaaayyy better to have people excited and engaged as opposed to being completely uninterested.
