  1. 1. When you keep showing up late at work every day for about 4 minutes because you had to wait for your car to finish alignment 2. When you mount your warthog stick on your gear shifter every day before you go to work. 3. When you post in the avionics section of the forum inquiring whether it is a known issue that the HUD in your car only functions when you close your eyes even though you did install beta 4. 4. When you go out into town in the weekend for a beer, just before you enter the bar you call out One, fencing in, and then once in the bar ask the bartender for permission to precontact. 5. When you after finishing said beer, walk up to a girl and say Authenticate Romeo Alpha, then when she give you the WTF look you call in security because there is unauthorized personel on your frequency. 6. When on the same night it start to get late and you are being annoyed by some desperate ugly chick you call out: One is defensive, then kneel down on the floor, light up a box of matches and start throwing them around in pairs. Then you stand up again and if she is still there, you call out: One, Ejecting, and then you run away with a pastic bag with two strings attached on either side above your head.

  2. thanks kon, had both our servers up today left my one open on a 'target practice' mission pershaps those who are not so good and '''''''spoil'''''' other peoples mission my get some practice in so that maybe one day they may be elite enough to join a group. S77th will be hosting a mission at 8pm US EST Saturday night (Midday Sunday Australian Eastern Daylight time, 11am in QLD if your flight gear wasnt washed away) , those who want to come along and have a fly, any skill level .. most welcome too. Ive been flying flight sims online offline etc for the last 23 years Ive made many missions, played against many squads, pissed off a few people, and traveled to other countries to meet some others ive flown with. I just think this is Silly. DCS A-10 is what you make of it. if a mission is made to be played as a co-op with the complexity as such that it requires it to be played by only those who are in that squad on teamspeak or ventrillo.. then thats how it should be played. If a mission is made so that you can jump in, not read breifing follow your waypoints and shoot stuff. then thats how it should be played. if your mission is SOOO good that others copy it then you should pat yourself on the back that you have inspired/provided this enjoyment to others. if you get undesired persons in your server, boot em. they keep it up ban em if they are cheating ban em. quoting EULA, seriously thats just silly.. the point of this being, there are many ways to fly this game. fly it your way.

  4. EDIT: As this topic has just been bumped, I will stress that this was done with Beta 4. I beleive that the surface friction model was tweaked for the final release so the results below may now be redundant. There have been many posts reguarding braking and stopping distances. Though many suggestions have been made all seem to be based on anecdotal evidence and texts. I have now tested over 50 landings and present the following empirical results. (Only the conclusion needs to be read, the rest is just detail). Conclusion: 1) Anti-skid GREATLY increases stopping distance under all conditions tested. 2) Best stopping distance is A/S off, 3/4 wheelbrakes, Full airbrakes. 3) Anti-skid greatly aids handling especially at speeds < 50 kts, but 3/4 wheelbrakes with no A/S is just as good. 4) Stopping times were LONGER with less weight. (Same as an underweight car). 5) Pumping the brakes made stopping distances much longer. 6) suggested landing configuration A/S on for safety, 3/4 wheelbrakes, full airbrakes. Turn off A/S if runway overrun is looming (long landing). THE FOLLOWING IS JUST DETAIL DON'T BOTHER READING UNLESS INTERESTED. Method: A track was created with overspeed landing at idle. Tests were conducted by taking control of the track at 130-140kts and applying brakes (slider assigned) at 120kts. Results were ALWAYS reproduceable within 1 second (OK sometimes 2), due to this, many measurements were performed only once. nb. My SaitekX52 timer was 20% slow (though it keeps good time) so it was not used. Results: (Beta 4) Notes: -Stopping time was measured not distance (too hard), but by eye it seemed a fairly accurate substitute for distance. -Using 3/4 brakes was almost always better than full brakes and even more important when A/S was on. -3/4 brakes (slider estimate by my eye) appears to be about 60% according to Ctrl-Enter Graphic. -Hydrolics were never seriously affected and remained near full pressure. -No tires were popped except under deliberate oversteer. -% Effect of turning A/S off was greater with higher grossweight and airbrakes extended. -With A/S off, airbrakes only had a minor effect! (by percentage) -Airbrakes may spoil lift and increase down pressure on ground thereby reducing skidding. -Wet weather may alter results and crosswinds may make A/S more important for control (not tested). It appears that the A/S is tuned for stability and safety rather than stopping power. Skidding was more effective than maintaining traction under these conditions.

  5. My short promo of the awesome Pink Tigger Gripen model:). P.S. Better watch through youtube at 720p, because i'm shooting at 120 frames per second(Oh and I'm almost forget to mention bout fancy god rays effect:)), i dont know why, but if you watch through forum you only get 30 frames at max.:(. Ok lads, here the little update or Directors cut if you wish:). I just added a little dialogue in the Swedish language, between the head of flight and the pilot:).

  6. To clarify: the Nevada map will NOT be in the release version of A-10C but we do plan to release it later as a pay-for add-on map. This map will be free to those did the A-10C pre-purchase though. For those that wait for the final, release version, the Nevada map will be a separate purchase.

  20. Just to add a few words about SAM avoidance: Knowing the SAM technology might help you avoid being hit even in the most hairy situations. The SAM missile has a thruster that burns out a few seconds after the launch. Next the missile goes ballistic, and this is when you start your dance. Any maneuver you will do means that the missile will have to correct, then bleed energy until finally it slows down to a speed where the missile flight controls lose effectiveness. You can dive, beam, climb, do S-split, turn around basically anything that will make the missile do work... Out of Desert Storm A-10 pilots memories, even in the most hopeless situation when the missile is in the terminal guidance stage (few seconds before impact) one last high-G pull will give you enough distance to avoid totall destruction.

  22. I had to share this... While attacking a group of armor, my right engine was damaged so I made an emergency landing on the road. Safely down, I noticed the targeting pod was STILL tracking my assailant. Quite naturally, I followed the road back to his location - the last stretch across a grassland meadow. As I neared the tank, it's machine gun opened up, and I tried to respond with my own. Rounds from the GAU impacted uselessly only feet from my nose. Clearly this needed to be a point blank affair. Advancing to close the distance- short bursts of Avenger cannon testing the range, 30 yards, 20... I was almost there! Both engines died. Before my hog was shredding completely, I gave one last long pull on the trigger... The sustained fire caused the entire ship to rock back on it's haunches - rear wheels digging into the earth, the nose pivoting skyward; and with it a devastating stream of fire. "...low altitude capabilities..." I'd say so. :music_whistling:

  25. I have hosted open servers for all ED sims and never had much problems with players. Some teamkilling but those players will not be able to join the server again when a DCS A-10C release arrives and we can have ServMan to look after it. I have stated that when a release is here I will host an 24/7/365 open server with my own quick and easy missions. No long intros or plans, just a shootout for a couple of hours. (HJ)

  28. Sorry to hear that they were serving an unfinished project. I think the translation became muddled when you said you locked it down because of plagiarism fears. Also, at the risk of sounding petty, when you said, "There are some fantastic mission designers out there. We have seen them in action for the DCS BS when it first came out (Dragon for example) and they have designed missions for the community - awesome. There will always be a place for these talented people. But, there are some of us who keep close to our chests, the concept and success of specific missions and 'don't' want them served generally to the public by other people." It seemed that you acknowledged there are those who release great missions for the public, but you and yours keep them secret and within your circle of friends or wing. My bad for somehow not reading this correctly, unless you are having a change of heart and downplaying your original stance. Either way, looking forward to one day seeing excellent products released from the 74th that show your expertise and skill, and further the development of the community and attracts the best and brightest to your gentlemen's club. Enjoy your bath. I've said my piece and all the guys on here are intelligent enough to come to their own conclusions on what went down.

  29. Evidently you misunderstood the arrangement: you made a pre-order for a product and were granted access to working betas. Nothing else was guaranteed. It is perfectly acceptable. The only "joke" was your silly post...a sad joke at that. Look around and tell me what other options there are for hardcore combat study flight sims...no hurry, I'll wait.

  33. Yes on the cpu core voltage to 1.35, I tried that, it was stable at 4.8 for maybe half an hour of burntesting, then BSOD, and the same at other multiplier settings, every time I thought was stable, tried all kinds of voltage settings, at 4.4 I was sure it was stable, but it finally BSOD after a couple of hours in a game, and then I went back for more burn testing at 4.4 and sure enough, BSOD again. I set my memories (corsair xms3 1333) at 1.55, I didnt try at 1.6, I will try that too and see if that helps. I already did a round of memtest, but I will do another one at 1.6. I went kindof half cheap with the cooler, artic cooling 7 rev2, I had very good results with that cooler before so I thought since its 32nm it should do the job, but it gets to 83 degrees on the highest voltage settings (at 4.6-4.8Ghz) when I burn test all 4 cores at the same time. If I go down to 3 cores for the burn test temperature stays at 78-79. With 2 cores at max load temp is low, 65ish. Think the cooler is the problem? If it isnt the cooler, then maybe something is wrong with my methodology, or maybe I have a chip thats not as good as the reviewers had, or I have too high demands on the burn tests. Or maybe 4.2 just feels low because I thought it was stable at 4.8 and I really should stay at 4.2 :)

  34. Did you increase the cpu core voltage to 1.35V and your memory to 1.6V ? Also what cooler have you got sitting on top of it? Memory can sometimes be the bottleneck when you overclock so run memtest first to make sure you memory is happy at the set speed. hardly ! very few get their i7 9XXs to over 4.0ghz and certainly not without some serious cooling involved. Also ghz is no indicator of processor power any more when comparing different processor architectures.

  41. there are nearly no missions or campaigns available for FC2 in general. This is my biggest gripe with the sim. Few stock campaigns and missions, after you play them not much is left for you offline. It would be cool if there was at least some random mission generator, but probably nothing can be expected for FC2 sadly.

  42. Mwoah, at the moment I get as much fun out flying navigation trips in the F-16 in FSX as I get from blowing stuff up in DCS with the A-10C. The current campaign system just doesn't float my boat at all so I don't really see the point in blowing stuff up. Besides, most fighter pilots make 99,99% of the flying hours in peace time, I know a lot of fighter pilots that had entire carreers and that never dropped a bomb in anger. What I am doing in FSX is actually way more realistic ;)

  45. Hey there. I've received numerous requests to make additional videos about DCS A-10 since the multiple JDAM drop video. I enjoy making these. Feel free to suggest what topic you would like covered next. Gonna consolidate these into a master list of vids. As of now, there are 4 "main" ones, with the Targeting Pod guide being the latest: The above video describes how to range targets and create more accurate markpoints with the targeting pod. I made this fairly (as study sims go) newbie-friendly vid to show how to land. Part 1 is a basic VFR approach from the pattern; Part 2 has a crosswind landing and missed approach + additional info on crab angle calculation. I have introduced my personal preferences into the procedures very slightly, so I'm sure it'll deviate from the official Landing training mission. But, this is how I usually do it. I am not going to get particularly hardcore in the landing series of vids, because they're meant to be a starting point to practice and not an encyclopedic repository of pitch-perfect landings. Lately I've been experimenting with the trim system and MRFCS, and so I made a video about that. There was some confusion in the openbeta forum about how these systems work. It's also motivated by my desire not to end up in the state of confusion that I (and many others) were in about Black Shark's trimmer. I went into the A-10A manual that's linked in the "A-10 documentation" thread, read up on the trim/MRFCS topics in that, and then compared it to the functionality in the beta. The result was that it works as described in that document. Which is very cool. Please note that since the MFRCS is still a WIP item, I'm not going to do part 2 until there's either a good way to portray it as WIP, or until it's finished. The original JDAM video; shows the user how to launch multiple JDAMS and explains how the markpoint system can be used to input new navigation waypoints for flight plans. _______________________ I'll annotate any technical errors people find.
