  4. Also man kann ja gerne Kritik äußern, aber muss man das gleich so respektlos tun? Vor allem gegenüber Community-Mitgliedern, die mit Herzblut dabei sind und viel für diese Community tun.

  5. Spearfish Aeroworks Supermarine Scimitar MOD A Royal Navy strike aircraft through much of the 1960s, the Scimitar was both loved and hated by pretty much anyone who came into contact with it. Supermarine's last hurrah is equipped with 4x30mm ADEN cannons, as seen on the more famous Hawker Hunter and EE Lightning, and four underwing pylons with provisions for AIM-9B Sidewinders, AGM-12 Bullpups (not planned for this mod as of time of writing), 4,000lbs of bombs, RP rockets, drop tanks, and a buddy refuelling pod. A ranging radar lights the way for this monster of a subsonic low-level strike aircraft in dogfights, and the Blue Silk nav/attack system guides you home to the welcoming deck of a RN carrier. 6. Short answer, they are known and are being worked on. Long answer: it's not so much the trim ball as much as the flight model itself that needs adjustment, which is still ongoing. Specifically, the yaw offset to the left in forward flight and the adverse yaw when rolling the aircraft require adjustment. Those are what are contributing to the behavior you are seeing that is creating the uncoordinated flight when rolling into and out of a turn without collective and pedal movements, and are known. Also keep in mind the electronic trim ball indication in the AH-64D is derived from inertial data, which makes it behave more reliably and promptly, but it won't behave the exact same way as the skid/slip indicator in an analog gauge, so I caution against making those direct comparisons. The other side of it is Turn Coordination. When the force trim isn't pressed and ground speed is >40 knots, SAS Turn Coordination logic will attempt to keep the trim ball at its current reference (which is updated when the force trim is released). However, its current correction rate is much too slow which is why you see it slowly fade in the input after the fact, unless the roll is accomplished very slowly. The Turn Coordination input rate is also a known factor that needs adjustment, coupled with the factors of the exaggerated yaw offset and adverse yaw effect.

  10. Crikey. ED get grief when they provide aircraft fixes ahead of core engine fixes. ED also get grief when they provide core engine fixes ahead of aircraft fixes. Lose-lose it seems. Of course some of you could actually be grateful you get ANY fixes at all....

  11. Well that was easy. Somewhere between me making this and today, launch altitude for the ASMs the SU-24s are using were altered. 2.7.3 SU 24 Fencer Pilots in Mission 7 and 9 has been whacked over the head with a newspaper and told to fly at an appropriate level to release their ASMs, thereby fixing both missions. Patch applied and online: https://www.digitalcombatsimulator.com/en/files/3315773/

  12. Kenneth A. Walsh was one of the top USMC aces in WWII and was credited with shooting down 21 aircraft during the Solomons Air Campaign... ... He also got shot down by Zeros, thrice. As did Pappy Boyington once, before becoming a POW. The point I'm trying to get across is that even an expirienced pilot could meet its match on the A6M Zero. As I guess you already know, WWII air to air combat wasn't about neat tail chasing furballs and most pilots never saw their attacker before being shotdown. Current data shows that the F4F Wildcat and the A6M Zero were well matched and had a mostly even exchange ratio throught 1942, even more modern aircraft like the P-38 and F4U only took a slight lead on the A6M during the reminder of the Solomons campaign. These kind of sweeping generalizations kind off remove some merit to your own (?) servicemen, making it seem like they had the upper hand the momment they "figured it out", when in truth the air war in the Pacific was quite a contest throught 1942 and 1943 and the eventual collapse of the IJN and IJAAF came down more to Japan's inability to keep up with the attrition in both aircraft, pilots and ground crews than in technical and tactical improvements by the Allies (which, I won't deny, did play a role throught the war). Also adressing a previous reply, while the A6M Zero was certainly not "the best ever made WW2 bird", it was still one of the finest plane designs of the Late 1930's and, given the lingering limitations of Japanese Air Industry, a massive archievement. Again kind of underselling both Japanese ingenuity and the struggle the USN, USAAF, USMC, RAF and RAAF pilots had to go through early in the war.

  13. Yeah, the fixes are always welcome. And it looks another mini-patch is coming... Sometimes it takes a few tries to get right, doesn't it? Also, @Silver_Dragon, could you stop posting "DCS news" YouTube videos to the news&roadmap thread? I was excited for a new update about the A-7, only to find that not only the guy just patters on about things that were announced already in a readable form, the thing is from January. Let's keep the roadmap thread for new stuff, YouTube talking heads regurgitating old bits of info can go elsewhere.

  14. A8 is old agreed, but totally worth the price, you get a digital accurate representation of this plane like no other game or sim has ever done it. We all want the version with more power, but still what we have is correctly modeled.. I think if we get an update , it would be very popular.

  24. Hello All- David here (Whippet41). I live on the east coast of Florida. I'm somewhat new to DCS. I've been working on the P-47D and the 56th Fighter Group Campaigns. My Dad flew with the 56th Fighter Group out of Boxted, England from August '44 till the end of WWII. I was assigned to the 56th Fighter Group 61st Sq when it was at MacDill AFB, hence the patch. At that time the Sq was converting from F-4's to the F-16. Typically, fly in mornings to mid-afternoons. I also explore MSFS 2020 and the PMDG 737. Currently, working with the A-10C platform learning the basic systems. Next steps will be to learn more about mission planning and exploring the multi-player arena. Out...

  25. If you're doing a longer flight or something a bit more realistic that requires performance, AAR skill becomes important - it's not only being able to do it, but being able to do it smoothly and quickly. If you've got 4 planes that need to sip gas, you might be looking at 2-4 minutes on the boom each, maybe 5 depending on the aircraft and how much fuel it needs to take (IIRC boom transfer in DCS is ~2500lbs/min). You can easily do the math on that and see how it affects timings for various phases of a flight. In that respect, some form of assist for the less skilled players is practical. On the other hand ... you don't see a lot of missions flown in this manner.

  26. But on which planet? 100% of true. For now, it was a pre-order for the promise only, when they give the date of release of EA, there will be a pre-order for the release and then ... I'll take it.

  30. There's indeed something weird going on with the Viper, in that it has a deadzone that probably shouldn't be there for the optimum experience with a typical desktop stick. ED seems to be trying to simulate the force sensing stick on the real thing, but the way they do it works poorly on anything but an actual force sensing stick. Good on you if you have the RealSimulator base, not so good in all other cases. Curves are there on the real aircraft, as well. Those actually work OK. As for bleeding speed, well, you really need to watch your G in the Viper. You've got small wings and only one engine, not like the Tomcat at all. Viper lives by keeping its speed up.

  31. Yes, Wags are more like quick start guides, cool if you just want to know HOW to do anything. Notso videos teach you HOW to do and WHY. I can understand that for people who just want to know how they might be boring and slow paced, but for us "rivet counters" and "procedure nerds" it is a goldmine.

  32. Notice what kinds of assists we're talking about here. Clutch, racing lines, traction control, ABS... An analogy of those in AAR would be something along the lines of overlays that tell you which way to go, or curve adjustments to make the response smoother. That's very different from AAR autopilot. One thing you won't ever find in any semi-serious or competitive driving sim is an assist that will drive through a difficult section of the track for you, while you go AFK, which would be the driving sim equivalent of AAR autopilot. You may have driving sim assists that improve the responsiveness of the car, make it less slippery, more smooth, shift better, but there aren't any assists that steer for you, let alone fully take over. I'm also yet to see a car racing assist that makes the road wider for you. Some assists may be more acceptable than others, and I think the problem is to a large degree about the kind of assists that you're asking for, for which an equivalent just straight up doesn't exist in racing sims.

  38. My kid learned how to ride without ever using training wheels (fact). I think therefore that training wheels are useless, make kids less able to learn, and they should henceforth be banned, and all parents who use them declared lazy-ass to teach their kids properly. Kids are awful too. THAT is how "no assists" arguments sounds like.

  43. Thanks to the creator of the mod. It's shocking that the problem of spotting has been ignored for years, even though it keeps popping up as a problem here on the forum, on Reddit, YouTube, etc. It can't be that you must play the game at a low resolution and then upscale it. Give us the ability to enjoy high res on WW2 and Coldwar scenarios… for what we have Normandy2 now in high details, when we are bound to low Res. because of spotting?!? In WW2 and Coldwar, the ability to see the pixels is the basic requirement to be able to play at all. This problem should be very high on ED's list of priorities...! It is not "good as it is"! This is my first post here in the forum, but I've been flying DCS for years and live with all the bugs... I just let ED do her thing and I'm very patient. ED should act urgently here.

  44. Well, as far as I figured, built-in VOIP is basically directly using your aircraft radio to talk to people, so pretty good, and simpler to set up than SRS. A good integrated solution will always beat an external app.
    2 points
  45. While we appreciate the feedback, and agree SRS is a great app. Having a in house out of the box voice tool is something we want to provide, it will help with new users who do not want to mess with outside apps. A voice tool for DCS has been asked for for many years and we are happy to provide it. thank you
