As topic stated, I love DCS: World. With that in mind, I want to give you my thanks. But most of all, I love you all. Each programmer, artist, project manager, public liaison, and every job title in between, thank you. The beauty of DCS: World has always captured my heart. Through all the patches, all the updates, all the complaints, all the resolutions, all the anticipation with all the possibilities (oh there are endless at that), and all the Nick Grey, Matt Wagner "Wag", Nineline, BigNewy, all the yearly updates with Nick Grey's voice over, and many may more, I cannot thank you enough. I came from a different flight sim hobby background, but from an era where 486 DX33 w/ 16 MEG RAM was the best I could have. I want to express a wholeheartedly thank you for what you, the programmer, the renderer, the troubleshooter, the project manager, the community relations liaison, and the quality assurance specialist who made DCS: World into what it is today. Fact is, love, may comes from all angles and all walks of life; from mine, I am grateful for Eagle Dynamics and the heights they have achieve thus far. Thanks, guys and gals, and Nick's DCS team, you ALL rock. Best, Your fan. Big Oops re RAM amount: After the comments I collected below, I think it was 4 megs originally in 1991 followed by another 4 meg many years later in 1995-1996 (it was my summer break during high school, I recall). Yeah, 16 meg... that's a no way. Sorry, it's 28 yrs ago, and my memory for that PC RAM amount got fussy. Thanks for the correction!14 points

I wish the Mission Editor allowed us to create a new Folder when saving a mission, either by means of a button or with a context menu. Currently I have to return to Windows to create a new folder, as the Save Mission dialog has no way to do this:7 points

Thank you for the kind words we appreciate it. From all of us at Eagle Dynamics thank you for flying with us.5 points

Тогда понятно. А-то больше было похоже на простыни, объясняющие, что грачу хватит и локоновской реализации, потому что он ирл днище. А вот А-7...5 points

Not sure I understand this comment. Last week I spent most of the week on WWII bugs, no I didn't get them all as of yet, but I am working on them. Ancient threads being updated, while a nice idea would be a lot of work to do so. Generally reported is the last state we leave a thread in, from time to time we feel the need to reply something is fixed or other info but we cant always. General WWII progress is tough right now. The WWII team is very small and this year has been about some rather large core updates. Of all the teams this has hurt the WWII team the most. I will raise concerns with management but this is the basic reasoning why this year hasn't been a great year for WWII. I think most of you know I am a huge WWII guy so I feel your pain for sure on all these things. I know its not a great answer but right this very moment it is all I have.4 points

It's interesting that you see nothing wrong with above statement. The world, as it seems, must revolve around your point of view, and everyone else should acquiesce to your demands - no matter how tiny of a sliver of opinion space you occupy. Why not reverse it? I demand that you play the way I do. You are flying a German plane? You must study all literature in German. Same for the Russian birds: Cyrillic docs only. When flying Normandy, speak in German to your team over the radio - or in French. When in Caucasus, speak Russian when flying Red. An no English cockpits for the Migs, Sharks, Hinds, Mirages etc. "Same real-world disadvantages". It would be preposterous, completely unnecessary, and arbitrarily so. And that is how I read your demands. Like this? It is a real problem and it helps if people were less blasé about other people's issues. This was fixed with a tiny change to the glass renderer. And now we have the faction of perpetually self-victimizing "hardcore" PvP players who have a problem with losing yell that familiar 'exploit, cheater!' mantra. No we don't. If we did, you would not be able to fly again. Ever. DCS is a game. The hallmarks of a game are that it discards real-world tedium and makes the experience enjoyable without it's drawbacks while leaving some options. If you tend towards masochism, by all means, have at it. But please don't think that you are rightfully entitled to force everyone else down your particular choice, nor that they would enjoy it.4 points

Where'd you get the idea that the F-14 can't guide multiple Sparrows to the same target? To the best of my knowledge, nothing prevents this. It just can't guide multiple Sparrows to different targets simultaneously.4 points

Hi fighters! Today we will look at optimization. The team is working on improvements to the map, but the more detail and uniqueness we add, the more effort it takes to optimize. Hard work has been done on all areas of the map: models have been optimized, textures have been reassembled, vector data rendering on clipmaps has been updated - all this has had a positive effect! We conducted tests on two systems: AMD Ryzen 7 3700x / RTX 2080Ti and i9-10850K / RTX 4080 When flying over a city, FPS increased by an incredible 20%, and while on a system with a 2080ti the average FPS was at 85, now it confidently remains around 110. When flying over a forest, FPS increased from 5% to 20% compared to the previous build. When testing the 2080ti system, the fps was always above 105. One does not simply release an update with optimization. We have added 4 airfields: Amman Civil Airport Herzliya Airport (NOTAM: RWY LENGTH 1500M) King Abdullah II Air Base Prince Hussein Air Base This will increase your flight geography and diversify your missions. Explore new airfields and get ready to take off Prince Hassan Airbase King Abdullah II Airbase4 points

There are no auto flaps except when you exceed the speed limit, they will automatically retract. Besides that, nothing automatic.3 points

That love also broke 3 separate instruments, though. Don't get me wrong, I think everybody appreciates any kind of WW2 update (we're all starved for them, as you mentioned, and would love to see more), but things like this hurt precisely because updates are already so few and far between.3 points

Still no response from them. Johnny415 also tried to contact them through email and WhatsApp multiple times, hoping to solve the issues on the UFCP. But they didn't even bother to reply to him at all. Also, there is another problem I forgot to mention. All of their encoders have NO push functions. Now I think it is safe to assume that Wefly products are defective by design. That is why everybody I have heard who purchased their products experienced the same problem. Their engineers are just not talented enough to design a proper controller. And they know it, they can't send their customers the replacements because all of their goods are the same, so they stopped responding to us because they cannot solve the problem.3 points

Haha, friendzoned by a corporation XD Anyway. I do love DCS dearly as well and feel very grateful for the continued effort put in by all involved. Cheers.3 points

Hi Marroux, nice shot ! I must say that because the ships wake is what can be seen first from very far, I always use your lods.ship_wake updates to have a better effect in DCS, from my point of view. See my previous screenshots. Thanks Marroux !3 points

Again...says you. No disrespect. I think Robin Olds would disagree. I don't find the shark toothed Air Force E any less recognizable, and grew up seeing/hearing about those just as much as the Naval/Marine ones. They are both equally iconic. So you can make any statement you want in relation to your experience/preference etc, who am I to argue with that. When you or anyone else starts making blanket statements about what is the "most recognizable" version is to everyone.... especially given the history....expect commentary. Based on what? Heatblur's record of delivering top-drawer aircraft in reasonable time frames? I think some of you are confusing your preferences or fears with objective reality. Again, no disrespect, I'm being quite sincere. There are other parties where yes, I'd be "concerned" as well...concerned at least that I'd be dead by the time it arrived. Not so with Heatblur. Good to know, especially since they delivered the first one in under 3 years. Again, based on what? At this point nothing here would surprise me. Hold off all you want, I and most others be enjoying this...2 points

I am getting a bit worried our friend has left us. Nowhere to be seen since November 6. he told me if he had not posted in a week , we should raise our glasses and salute him.2 points

No, you need to trim and not wait for the SAS saturation advisory. Waiting until the advisory presents means the aircraft is likely already doing weird things input wise that you’re having to fight against. Be a pilot, do pilot stuff and proactively trim. If you need to make large maneuvers and inputs, hold the trim interrupted, and release it when you’re back to level. This is the way, regardless of your physical hardware.2 points

Thanks for posting this Mole and highlighting something that got culled when the spotting 'mod' was brought the forefront of everyone's minds. The ban hammer came down heavy and locked down a bunch of mods that a lot of us used in the community . I wont go into that to keep focus on one thing at a time. I'd love to see it come back especially for the Mi-8 which you have highlighted which suffers awfully from dodgy shading / reflections. Hopefully it can be fixed for everyone or a option we can tick as its quite inconsistent module to module right now.2 points

Hm... Love? Let me see... It seems impossible to imagine living without DCS. I'm planing a wonderful future together with DCS and ED. We've gone together through good and bad times. I've invested lots of time, heartache, sweat and tears of joy and some of pain into our relationship. You haven't been my first combat flight sim but I could easily live with the imagination that you'd be my last. There are people at ED whose voices alone get me shivers. You are not perfect but you are perfect to me. Guess it's.... Love.2 points

I saw new Mi-24 Screenshots which show the new Pilot Model. Would be cool if we also get that for the Mi-8 since pretty much the same aircraft.2 points

One thing to mention about Have Doughnut is that the buffet stuff is not really applicable to any Mig in DCS, and the control forces bit mostly applies to the Mig 15 and 19 but not the 21.2 points

The key here is single target. The Sparrow is a SARH missile (semi-active radar homing) and needs a constant positive lock, for example an STT (single target track) will work while a mode like TWS (track while scan) that can be used to fire Pheonixes or AMRAAMs won't work with the Sparrow. The target is painted by the radar and the Sparrow looks for the return from the target to home in. Therefore, if you're in the Tomcat and launch a Sparrow on a target and then lock someone else and fire again, of course the first missile is trashed, you stopped painting its target. The only limit to how many Sparrows an aircraft can fire at a single target is how many you are carrying and if you can maintain radar lock. This works in the F-14, the same as it does in the F-15, F-18, and eventually the F-4.2 points

Anyone who wants the sim to be realistic. It’s entirely realistic for canopy reflections to interfere with your view. Sure this effect could be better done in some modules but I don’t see why a realistic sim would have an option to turn this off.2 points

Well a few things. First while the livery is outside, you can absolutely still see it, depending on the plane at least. You should absolutely be able to see your wingmen as well. This already means they can be useful for identification, which is true in real life. That's why roundels exist. This also implies a lot when it comes to historical accuracy. If two enemies have similar liveries that make them difficult to tell apart then you might want that in DCS to recreate the ambiguity faced by real pilots. Then of course there is no denying that while DCS is built around combat, it's not limited to that. People make vidoes, take screenshots, or simply look at things in the game that are visually interesting. I deliberately choose liveries in single player even if no one is going to see them. Someone somewhere probably does choose a livery to show off, but I feel like that's less common in DCS than in other games ruined by microtransactions that you mentioned. In any case, we do agree on the conclusion, some kind of livery management system seems like it would only be a good thing. More options to save space and the possibility for more liveries to be added to DCS. Everyone wins.2 points

I know this post is very old, but I'm replying anyway. A Predator would be just as interesting as anything else. You'd be as capable as coordinating with other players online in a complex battle, especially if CA is involved. And don't forget that DCS isn't limited to one aircraft. Variety is a good thing. Even if this wouldn't be someone's preferred module, it could be still be worth it as an occasional use aircraft. I prefer fixed wing to rotors, but I still have a collection of the latter that I can use whenever I feel like doing CAS lower and slower.2 points

Hey guys, I'm so sorry that I'm so late in seeing this topic! Really appreciate your comments & feedback, and getting to know more about what aircraft interest you guys for DCS. We don't have any solid plans set in stone for future DCS modules right now; we are still committed to finishing the A7 before we start on any other modules in earnest. I can tell you though that we are very much open to coming to bringing some of our modules across to DCS in the future, and we are in-fact coding the A7 in such a way so as to make the porting process easier for ourselves should the time come. By that I mean we are making our flight model code, core systems code and so on modular so that we can potentially reuse it for other modules in the future. The same goes with CFD work - we are putting processes in place to ensure that we can much more efficiently repeat the process in future. Our MSFS P-38 sim is officially licensed by Lockheed Martin, and as such comes with a few strings attached to it. It is definitely inside the realm of possibility though in the future! Thanks for your interest! Cheers Dan FlyingIron Simulations2 points

I used a single projector on a flat 90” screen for a while; it was great, but was also the family movie setup as well so eventually went to VR. I love projectors, someday may return to using them. one thing I’ll mention is they are easy on the eyes, much more so than vr or screens.2 points
