  4. You're not investing in their business you're pre-ordering a product? They didn't ask you either - you as a consumer opted into it. There's multiple screenshots from HB reiterating the deadline to be no later than 31/05 after explaining in good detail why they had to push it back. I'm sure we'll all be very pleased with the product as and when it comes. On a personal note, and not excusing anything, but I have yet to know of a 3rd party flight sim product of any platform that wasn't delayed in some capacity unless they withheld the release date and dropped it on people's laps out of nowhere. In my teen years I would stupidly scrape around the forums nearly every day to see if there was a glimmer of an update or some piece of information which meant I would daily wait for a product that was 3-4 years out and get annoyed about it for no reason. Including other 3rd party products for FSX/P3D that in the end after 4 years of development never actually released in the end; which sucked because I dumped so much hype into it. I eventually realised that I was more interested in having the toy rather than playing with what I have already. There's tons of stuff in DCS already and I absolutely reject the notion that anyone has completed DCS and extracted all possible fun gameplay from it, in which the only way to breathe new life into it is with another plane. It's best to try and put it to the back of your head and enjoy what DCS offers as is. I would also recommend staying away from all the online drama stuff. There's been a big hyping up from some negative people in the DCS community. I assure you many of these characters spend far more time on forums and Discords complaining about the game rather than actually playing the game itself. If you hang around a lot of these negative communities, you could end up focussing on really negative stuff(at the expense of everything else) and tarnishing your own experience of just enjoying the game. I made that mistake a few years ago, and it was only when I got out of these complaining communities I stopped caring about release, or every comment a dev or community manager made and engaging in festering conspiracies, and shockingly I started playing DCS more and experimenting with the fun stuff(and would you believe it - the game is a lot more fun now). DCS as a game feels a lot more pleasant to me to play now. No point complaining too much about things we can't control, and for what we can control make the best of it.

  10. I do not need click pits for realism. I need it for not having endless button assignments and remember them all. For me SU 25 is a pain in the neck to remember where I assign what the times I fly it. A very capable aircraft which I love. But I always have to take half a hour before a coop flight just to see where I put my assignments. Click pits are simply easier to maintain a ok ish handeling of any ac.

  12. In the north, pines, spruces and other coniferous trees vastly outnumber deciduous trees. Consider for example the forests around Murmansk or Luleå airport If we look at the screenshots shared, it's a very different picture. I think Orbx should address this quite apparent discrepancy.

  14. Some of us here have been around a long time and know how all of this works. We have gone through broken promises, broken AC, products that never got finished, and of course there was the Hawk debacle. Remember the Hawk and that big mess guys? After all of these incidents, I never speculate, nor bother whining about any of this nonsense because you may as well shoot a dead horse who lost his hearing aides. They got your $$$, you agreed to the terms, now live with it. Go play with all of the other toys in your box because crying over this one will get you a whole lot of nothing.

  15. One of the few things that I can speak to intelligently is this particular issue. @Lord Vader I must ask, where are you getting the 13m CEP, as this is not published anywhere? If you are you are referencing error stacking, this could be an INS issue, but GPS system architecture is particularly designed to eliminate this problem. I will not go further into the subject as this forum is not an appropriate venue. Suffice it to say that if you label what is being put forward here as conjecture, because there is no reference provided you must then provide reference documenting accuracy of your statement. If such reference cannot be provided, then we must all agree to adhere and abide by those things which can be directly verified. F-16.net can be quite a good reference, put together by individuals with high degree of familiarity with the aircraft and its systems. Dismissing it out of hand might be somewhat presumptuous. My second question here is, do you (and I mean plural you here) have access to "official" documents, because frankly you should not. So, your statements also must be viewed as conjecture. Modeling based on conjecture is also unrealistic. One thing that I think we can all agree on, is open source published and generally accepted notion that current class of JDAM's operate with 5m CEP, so make it easy on yourselves and us and just model that. With 5m CEP 50% of shots should land within 5m of the target. Fortunately, or unfortunately, that is all we have to go on here. Now, If I am to give you the benefit of the doubt, which I don't want to, but will for the sake of this exercise, and we assume that you are correct in you conjectures and CEP with GPS is 13m, once again half of the shots should land within the 13m radius circle centered on the aimpoint. Under the currently accepted theory of CEP calculation this means that that some number of shots will be closer than 13m to the aim point and some further away. What we are seeing in the sim right now, at least in my experience, I dropped about forty (40) shots, is every single one was more than 13m from the target point. To the best of my ability, due to sim limitations, I tried to figure out what the dispersion was, and it seems that no matter what one does or what the environmental factors might be the CEP for these weapons is 13+m. What is even stranger, is that the weapons seem to be avoiding the target point. What I mean here is that if the inaccuracy presented here is due to random target point shift due to system error, then within a certain subset of shots the introduced errors should cancel out, this never happens as the weapons always miss the aimpoint. I do not want to be overly harsh here, but it seems to me that there is something rotten in the state of Denmark and all the conjecture in the world will not fix it, especially if we are closed to any form of outside facts.

  20. The JDAM GPS kicks get it's first fix +/-10 sec after release. It then takes some time for the Kalman filter to wash out the launcher location error to get to the 5m CEP. Best open source I could find is F-16.net (see link below). The link is slightly dated, the Kalman filter has been improved to further reduce the 13m CEP to 5m CEP (2016 SAR document below). Sure the F-16 INS/GPS might develop a 30m error (which is a lot, the aircraft I used to work with had a position confidence of 15m) but the JDAM does not take the full error to the ground if employed correctly. To suggest that the F-16 error of 30m translates in a 30m (error)+5m (CEP) is just incorrect (see sources below and explanation above). In IAMS targeting TLE and CEP are considered, not the launcher location error. The JDAM is adverse weather and BOC (bomb on coordinate) capable. Especially with BOC the pilot only fat fingers in the coordinates and releases in optimum parameters. Hence that during CAS the only action required for correlation is the readback of the programmed coordinate in the system. In case of the F-16 you readback what you entered in the DED, not what you wrote down. To fiddle around with TGP to update the coordinates would invalidate that procedure (Aircrew will not modify coordinates once read back is complete). 28. Agree. It’s stretching my understanding of the concept. Bought the double pack so my kid could have one for Christmas, now his birthday is coming up… I’m out of sync. Next time a software company asks me to invest in their business I’ll think twice about the matter. I thought better of Heatblur, than the Razbam show, but I was wrong. Old saying: don’t sell the fur before you’ve shot the bear. They did indeed sell the fur, and the bear ran away.

  29. @Czar66 - have a look at the DML Tool box by @cfrag. Its not a mod and you require no scripting knowledge. Within it is the ability to create clone groups. These can be a bunch of both static and live units. You can then use a random generator to pick the clone template you want activated. So for example you could have 3 or 4 different clone templates located in a position. The random generator will pick which one it spawns in. Once the template is created you just place zones where ever you want that template to potentially be spawned in. You also have the option to randomise the heading and position within the spawn location, so even if the same group got used twice when running the mission on repeat their distribution within the zone may not be the same. I have used this many times. Another great feature is that I may have created a template and marked 20 positions where I might want that group to be placed. If I decided that I want to change the format of the group, I just change the template. I do not have to go to all 20 locations and edit the placement (oh for multiple unit copy and paste in the editor but that is for another thread). Check it out, I know it is a third party and not in standard but it really does add to mission building.

  30. May 2, 1944 my birthday. Beings that I don't have a lot of time left to foolishly spend waiting for anything , I don't. My two cents, time flies and becomes rather important...do all the ideas you have, soon! Spend as much time as you will with those who mean the most to you. Do not hold contempt for anything or anybody because that will ruin any happiness you hold and you become cynical.

  34. Just letting everyone know, I have not forgotten about ya'll. the app is in daily development on my end, most of the issues with the last public build have been fixed, and other things completely re-vamped. The next public release isnt scheduled until June likely, As the app is also developed and maintained to aid testers, there are some functions that are integrated into the app that are not in the release version of DCS. The change log is extensive between the October build and now. On top of finding a suitable host so I can re-enable the auto update function, I am also looking into 2 separate deployment paths, one for testers and one for the public that way there wont be such a long wait.

  35. I personally don't use Discord. It is a horrible way to follow and find information as well as have a discussion. It works nicely for real time communications with a few people, but as a public discussion platform it is terrible. Discord also has a million pop ups, noises, and notification settings that I can never fully disable. The program is bloated and quite bad. Developers who use Discord for information is something I don't understand and never follow.
