And I dislike people like you who'd rather silence a discussion they don't like than let people speak. Of course, I understand this is a private company and there is no free speech on these forums (courtesy of our dear moderators), but still, let people speak, it ain't that hard... I agree with your point though, ain't no one big enough to believe that they can speak on the behalf of everyone.10 points

I'm finishing up the Italian Thaon di Revel-class offshore patrol vessels. Indonesia also owns a couple of the Paolo Thaon di Revel ship class.7 points

Thanks for the photos guys. Keep them coming. I didn't realize until now that the Spruance Class Destroyer is more of a Tomahawk Missile launch platform and it doesn't carry many anti-Air Missiles. I see why they decommissioned it. It would have been great if they added some SM-2 missiles to the VLS Cells. I haven't added the weapons to the USS Kidd yet. I will import/merge the weapons from the Ticonderoga Class.5 points

Fair enough, I didn't quite get you were talking about the video itself and to make it clear, I don't dislike you either at all. Though I dislike the willingness to close this thread. It's fair if you think this video doesn't represent you, people certainly are debating this very fact in this thread.5 points
-
let me clarify, what I dislike is the video title: "DCS Players have had enough …" I’m a DCS player and this guy does not represent me … very different if the title were "I have had enough" or "some players have had enough"5 points

But is that what's really happening though? From what I've read through this forum, people are mostly speaking on behalf of themselves, their immediate community, or out of observation of what they have seen here, or in other forums/comment sections - stuff they have personally experienced or observed. While passionate, I think most of the discussions I've seen are fairly fine. (Although I admit I don't know how many have been cleaned up). The only one that I could consider that is really doing that is the original video... which this thread is discussing. As such, I would have thought having a thread like this is actually beneficial to exposing the accuracy of the video's statements - whether they are indeed representative of a number of ED's customers, or a big farphy. Indeed! But I also get some people don't like this stuff - which again, where an 'ignore thread' button could help. It'd be a far better option IMO than censorship and not allowing these types of discussions.5 points

cant be soon enough, I strongly dislike threads of people who purport to be "representatives" of the whole community .. they should speak just for themselves.5 points

I really wish that ED would check if it is feasible to include this Mod with the base game, like they did with Massun's work. As it is now, I can use it only on missions that I don't intend to share, as flying the mission with the Mod disabled defaults to one of the simplest default weather options.5 points

Correct, we see a lot more then most people, and while post history can tell a lot about someone it isn't always the full picture we see as admins. This thread has nearly run it's course and will be closing soon.5 points

What truly matters is your desire to fly in an immersive and realistic environment, embracing the spirit of teamwork and role-playing over the pursuit of victory at all costs. There is very easy option to not do any rotation/teleporting at all unless turned on in the options or requested by player. Let me park and do my shutdown to end my mission - no harm in that, esp. in SP. This is realistic SOP.4 points

Please do point out where I denied that ED is, indeed, fixing things and improving DCS overall. Anywhere. No, really, go ahead. Please. Because, clearly, ED is improving DCS and that cannot be denied. This thread is just testament that they could be doing better and ideas how.4 points

It does look like you need an ORBX login, but you don't actually. Just click through to get to the mission you want and there is a "YOU CAN DOWNLOAD THE MISSION PACK BY CLICKING HERE!" spot and "clicking here" will let you download it without an account.4 points

A problem with that wish is that if ED were to incorporate it on the base game, then people that run into problems when loading a Mod would clog-up the support center ... it is better to have Mods clearly separated, so that users understand that they can use Mods "as is" and dont expect tech support for those.4 points

I watched Wag's video about the new deck handlers yesterday. That looks seriously cool, can't wait to try it. There was just one point that felt a bit jarring, i.e. the 180 degree teleport at the end of the video. Bearing in mind how awesome the rest way, it felt a bit out of place. My is that at some point it'll be possible to add the capability for deck crew to use one of the deck tractors to turn the aircraft around. I'm hoping that it might be a set of development down the line. Clearly it's hardy a priority item, but would be ace.3 points

We have CTRL+ALT+SHIFT+T to teleport back to a new parking spot. Given this, I think it would be best just to disable auto-rotate. Just leave the plane where it is, facing the direction it's facing and allow the player to use the feature already there to teleport to a new spot. This wouldn't even require any new code. It would just require disabling/commenting out the code that does the 180 degree flip. I mean, yeah - it'd be nice to have the extra feature for the player to decide, popup menu, etc - but if that's going to be months or years away - I'd definitely be advocating for just disabling the 180 degree turn for now and have the player CAS-T it.3 points

ok, I understand ... I had asked because Modules with multiple versions are kind of an Aerges trademark, with the C-101 having two versions and the Mirage F1 going to have four ... to me it is a big part of the appeal that your brand has. Wish Aerges all the best with this upcoming release.3 points

Widowmaker was applied by popular media. While the Germans saw it lawn darting, the Spanish didn't lose a single airframe during its service with them. The Japanese only lost 3. It's really a reflection on how important in type training really is.3 points

There's a good old joke in Germany on the subject: ‘What's the quickest way to get a Starfighter? Buy a field and wait’ When I look at the ratio of 292 out of 916, it's still better than the outcome of my flights in DCS.3 points

You're absolutely right, I personally didn't see anything wrong with what was said in this thread either. I didn't read every comment so I assumed there may have been people that were projecting their views and opinions onto everyone, which is something I disagree with. I don't know whether that happened or not I must admit, you are the judge of that.3 points

You'll be happy to learn that this will be addressed in the next update, ED fixed most of the ww2 AI problems.3 points

Thanks for replying and explanation. I swapped from Strike Fighters sim to DCS (much better terrains) because of the simplicity of the 3 new FC jets. Yes, the FF F86 is just a few extra clicks, I purchased it. Also bought your Yalu campaign - very enjoyable. Thanks.3 points

Haven‘t watched your tracks, but the most likely error would be, that you enter the coordinates in the wrong format. Lat/Long coordinates can be degrees minutes seconds or degrees minutes decimal minutes. And then there are even more precise versions of both formats with decimal seconds or more digits of the decimal minutes respectively. Recheck if you are using the correct format. The Hornet can handle all of these formats if you select them accordingly. Another error might be that you forgot to also enter the elevation of the desired target.3 points

For the Mirage F1 there was no pre-order, but Aerges did offer a 20% discount for early Access status (which is still on offer, guess until the F1M appears) @Vibora by any chance, is a two seat F-104 planned? ... also, an Official FAQ thread would avoid the cluttering of questions that is creeping on this Sub-Forum Best regards.3 points

A personal rework of the MV22 skin - in VRC-30 COD Livery with new interior. This isnt an MV22B - So its not an exact match, but close enough to present images that I could find less all the COD bits !! I hated the interior and decided to hack the existing C-130 interior and put that in its place, again not even a close match, but better than what was there. You cant actually see much of it anyway, so this will do. I have tried to get the panel lines a bit better than exuisting liveries, that took some time !! In the livery folder you will find 2 blank skins, one grey and one white/grey - so have a go yourself and see what you can make with it - feel free to do whatever you want with my stuff. If you want to create a parked version with the doors open and the blades foled there is another description.lua in there to do that, you will omly have to remove the first 2 words.! https://www.dropbox.com/scl/fi/dk10obhpuea26exnuh8xy/CrazyEddies-MV22B-COD-VRC-30.zip?rlkey=4e7o235tp5e575nig5ialvk6j&st=plzr7tsc&dl=03 points

Just wondering if anyone has heard of anything suggesting any of our third party campaign creators plan to make a Tomcat campaign on the Frozen Fjords of the Kola map? I don't know anything at all of the geography but having read a (very) little about training being done for those kinds of ops during the cold war, it seems like the premier carrier-borne cold-war fighter is a perfect fit.2 points

Yes. You may find out the hard way if/when the kind people at ED change the logic without notice again, so why assume if it works? The second test won’t constitute much performance. Change the offset? It’s not guaranteed though. You could use the airfield’s runway info, build a quad from it, and then test if the guy is inside the quad. Not difficult, but a lot of ugly code for an edge case.2 points
-
Thanks for the suggestion! I think I fixed it and you certainly put me on the right track. So here's what happened: On waypoint #1, the first airborne waypoint after the start, there used to be a 'CAP -a -ref' action which the mission editor put there by default. This, apparently, got ignored in case the airplane starts as 'uncontrolled'. I then replaced this action by a 'Search then engage group', pointing to the B17 group, as you suggested. This worked, except I wanted the task to be a proper CAP, not a designated attack on a specific target. Next I replaced the 'Search then engage group' again by a 'CAP' action. So same as it was, except without the '-a -ref'. And now it worked! It properly engages the B17 even though I didn't tell it to specifically attack that target. What I think is that the '-a -ref' addition means that it's a repitition of the original CAP task it got at mission start, except this got ignored. By telling it to 'CAP' without this addition, it counts as a new command. So in summary, for anyone running into this problem in future: if you want a CAP group to have a delayed start using 'uncontrolled', make sure to remove the 'CAP -a -ref' at the first waypoint and replace it by 'CAP'. Thanks again for looking into it!2 points

As long as MS offers security updates for 23H2, there won’t be a problem. 24H2 is a feature update, no-one is forcing you to install it. You can use the registry or group policy editor to prevent 24H2 from ever installing.2 points

Make sure your Anti-Virus solution hasn't quarantined any DCS files. If uncertain, you can exclude the DCS folders in your AV solution and then perform a repair. That should fix it Sent from my SM-A536B using Tapatalk2 points

Unofficial mods are a chief source of bugs and problems. Putting a direct line to them in the launcher has the potential to just flood ED and Partners with bug reports. I’m sure they need to balance the appeal these add with the extra work they can add. There is confusion too among players what mods even are. For example user created skins or missions technically aren’t “mods”. But unofficial aircraft modules and 3D objects are. Such a link in the launcher just adds to the confusion. I’m not sure what a mod manager is even supposed to do but it shouldn’t be ED’s job to manage these.2 points

No it wouldn’t A veteran such as yourself should know that by now2 points

It's a great and fun plane but it won't be updated for foreseable future if ever and the devs won't be compensated for their work. I'd suggest you to trial it if you are curious. Personally I'm holding off Razbam and ED module purchases until The Situation is resolved.2 points

Unfortunately the last patch mistakenly included WIP code that broke the some keybindings, etc. in the Kiowa. AFAIK the "fix" is already coded/tested but there is no confirmation/date that it will be included in the next ED patch (date to be confirmed).2 points

Did you notice that starting a few seconds into the track, you are inputting opposing rudder and stick? You input left rudder along with strong right stick -- a recipe for unpredictable flight. There's no reason to use the rudder in flight. For most of the track your stick was hard to the right. Let go of both controls and let the aircraft settle. As for the airspeed, note that the 4 mark on the airspeed indicator is 400 km/h, which is only 216 knots. That is not a good speed for maneuvering, and a delta-wing aircraft like the Viggen has high drag when flying at low speed and high angle of attack. You also exceeded 20 deg angle of attack many times during this flight, which is prohibited and will cause big problems (shown on the gauge just left and below the HUD). Anything above 17 deg comes with a high chance of compressor stall, which also happened in your flight (sounds like a hammer accompanied with flashing Master Warning and tones ["HUVUDVARNING"]). Compressor stalls drastically reduce engine power and are deadly at low altitude. My advice to you is to lay off the rudder, keep your airspeed above 550 km/h except when approaching an airfield to land, and take it easy on the stick inputs. Spend some time doing gentle maneuvers with simple, single-axis inputs (pitch only, roll only, etc.), and get a sense of how to fly without pegging the angle of attack so hard. If you experience a compressor stall, reduce the angle of attack below 10 deg by letting go of the pull or gently pushing forward on the stick, throttle back to clear the stall, and then go to max power, wait for thrust to come back, and gently pull up.2 points
