Haha, I actually purchased a Zumwalt model quite a while back and dug it up yesterday when I saw the news. I was hoping for a rather quick implementation, but the model wasn't really good enough. So it won't happen quite yet. Then there's also the issue with implementing these kinds of missiles in DCS.5 points

Tips for Better Supercarrier Missions Since the release of the new plane director functions for DCS: Supercarrier, we’ve noticed that some customers have encountered issues with being unable to get taxi instructions, interrupted taxi instructions, and failed taxi instructions after recovering. While this is still early and a work-in-progress with more tuning to do, we’ve noticed a common set issue that has led to many, not all, of these issues. By understanding how the plane directors work, you can avoid such issues. First and foremost, if you are creating Supercarrier missions, we strongly recommend reading the new chapter in the Supercarrier Guide starting on page 43. This is particularly important to visualize taxi routes for players and AI aircraft in relation to the placement of static objects. https://forum.dcs.world/topic/228670-dcs-supercarrier-mini-updates/#findComment-5554122 Second, as noted in the Supercarrier Guide, the directors taxi aircraft along predetermined routes. If these are blocked, it will result in the deck crew being unable to marshal an aircraft and thereby hold up launch or recovery operations. As such, it is critical that you do not place static objects along these paths. Third, and related, the directors marshal aircraft based on the predetermined routes and available catapults. Blocking a catapult with static objects would also break the marshal operations. Do not place statics along catapults, like 1 and 2. Fourth, note that you will often need to send the Salute command twice. First to alert the deck crew of intention and then a second time to initiate the taxi. Please keep an eye on the notification messages in the center of the screen. Fifth, the deck crew works best in cyclic operations. Meaning, first launching all aircraft, and only after that is done, recovering the launched aircraft. It is best to avoid mixing them. Sixth, for the deck crew to operate correctly, you must check in with carrier ATC and get permission to recover. This allows the ATC to sequence launch and recovery operations and be able to get you on the deck. If you fail to check in with ATC and follow ATC instructions, you are currently notified of your failure by red flares. Will be adjusting how players are notified of uncleared landings. Seventh, once you land and you quickly raise the hook, flaps, and then fold wings, you may need to taxi forward at bit before you direction out of the box. Again, this is the first release of a very complex process that will be tuned with continued feedback. During this period, we hope that you will keep these points in mind for a better Supercarrier experience. Best wishes, Wags5 points

Master Server Infrastructure Maintenance We will have infrastructure maintenance on Tuesday, December 10th, 2024 from 04:00 to 05:00 UTC. All users will not be able to connect to the DCS Master server and all account sessions will be reset. We appreciate your patience and understanding during this short downtime. Thank you Eagle Dynamics5 points

The new version of DCS (the one introducing the new type of fog) also improves the lighting a bit, while VR users usually fly with the Lens Effect option disabled, which additionally cuts out many lighting elements that add a nice immersion in DCS. Personally, I prefer to have the Lens Effect enabled but without the lens effect (which are displayed twice in VR). Here is a mod (JSGME ready) that cuts out the double lenses while preserving the other elements. Below are examples of how it looks in the default DCS (image captured from VR, you can clearly see the difference in lighting, not only of the sun but also of the sky, clouds, horizon effects and surroundings). Lens effects - off (default DCS VR) Lens effects - enabled Flare + Dirt (default DCS VR) The mod removes the double image of the lenses (only) while leaving the other effects. The mod was tested on the latest version of DCS (December 2024, v.2.9.10.3948) and in principle should not require updating with subsequent new versions (unless it is required). Personally, I would also like to have a slightly smaller sun effect (size of the bloom around the sun), but that's another topic. Credits go to @Clorydric who had an idea on how to fix this. So no more 2x lens in VR (no any lens): Btw. Of course, when updating DCS, the mod should be deactivated for the duration of the update and reactivated in JSGME. Let's not get ahead of ourselves... For a set-back there has to be progress first. I think it would be good to remember that no-one outside ED has seen any progress for a decade or so. All we had were some pretty pictures that allegedly show something-something-mumble campaign, and some breathless commentary form internal sources on how well the developers were progressing... 3-4 years ago. Then again, I heard some positive rumors: ED allegedly managed to hire G. R. R. Martin to write the narrative for the first dynamic campaign, and he'll get to it right after he finishes his current engagement writing that "Thrones" thing.4 points

I seem to have acquired an adware virus which repeatedly displays pop-up adverts. Whilst I wait for a PC support visit to cleanse my PC, can anyone let me know any way I can make sure these pop-up boxes don’t appear in the centre of my VR view? I can live with them in 2D until the problem’s dealt with, but you can’t fly an ILS approach in VR with a second-hand car advert centred on your instrument panel!3 points

Can ED please start updating the manual with these new features? Looked and new fog isn't in there. For a study level sim ED seems to neglect the manual to a baffling degree.3 points

So far the only thing anyone has ever seen, is some f-10 map screenshots ( which don’t look much different from each other a year or two apart) of various frontlines and some new icons. Which tells us….nothing really. Thats the total of the information anyone has regarding the DC. I don’t like to be a pessimist, but at the current pace, I wouldn’t expect anything concrete for the next couple/ few years. A part of me hopes the new announced “Instant Action Generator” will have some of this dynamic logic intertwined. A video a couple years back that Wags did had a new option that said “Dynamic Mission”, that people found instantly but I haven’t seen it in any video since, and I look for that all the time, or anything that indicates some “dynamic” function… Sadly, I have to take the seat with @cfrag on this and have the realistic expectation that while there may be some progression, it is not making leaps and bounds and the end is NOT in sight. Again I would love to be incorrect in my assumptions, but anything DC related is almost best to not be concerned with at the moment . Until an actual demo video that showcases some real functions comes out, I don’t think anyone will get a single answer on any details. ED, please prove me wrong3 points

It's not a joystick thing, its more the lack of a proper q-feel system (see F1 and F-4) that makes the wings snap. The joystick is just a mitigation, not eliminating the root cause. The way the snaps are modelled is a bit overzeleaous, as has been mentioned by a couple of people a couple of times. I'd love to see the accident-reports of multiple F-5s shedding wings because of some rolling gs. If it was that easy, we'd have historical evidence of it.3 points

This is possibly the longest-standing wish of all mission designers, posted over a decade ago, and yet to be fulfilled. So, sadly, not at this time. No. There are no time-of-day related triggers in expansion I'm sure that you have discovered this already, but you may gain additional respect for the Kiowa's abilities when you order a drone over your objective, and carry some laser-homing missiles... How I wish that we could synch the Kiowa's TV to the drone's feed, it could jump the Kiowa to the forefront of all current DCS helos for me.3 points

guys please dont bother CH with Iron Dome stuff. there's a seperate thread for this with files that work in the current version if you find any bugs, post them in that thread and ping me so i can try to find a fix. at least until the original devs return at some point3 points

@NineLine @BIGNEWY Why was this moved to wishlist? We had functioning cockpit illumination on the supercarrier deck. I distinctly remember it on the first mission of Reflected's Fear the Bones campaign, as well as on the Forrestal, as well as on the Tarawa with the Harrier (and the associated performance hit this lighting caused on my machine). This is a feature that was broken, thus a bug, not a wishlist item.3 points

this has probably already been requested and i know that check six has a MRTT in the works for their australia assetspack but there is a long time before that releases. There is just not that much variation in the KC-135, so it would be cool to see some more variation in the Boom tanker pool since the drouge already have the KC-130, KC-135 MPRS and the Viking2 points

There is ample evidence that the real F-5 is much, much stronger than the way it is modeled in DCS. I posted this a long time ago. If you read the linked document carefully you will discover the official fatigue testing program expected 40 9G excursions per 1000 hours (160 excursion per lifetime of 4000 hours) and tested accordingly. The F-5 went through the equivalent of 4 lifetimes of testing or 640 9G excursions with no issues. One can safely assume that expecting 160 9G excursions means at least one excursion per lifetime far in excess if the aircraft/pilot is even able to successfully get to G levels above 9G in the F-5. I suspect actually generating 13G in a real F-5 isn't physically possible. There is written evidence that the F-5 is built to withstand severe punishment and it was presented to ED 3 years ago. The idea that an airplane proven to be able to exceed the published limitations 640 times with no ill effects loses its wings the first time you exceed the limitations is ridiculous on the face of it, yet it remains ignored and even championed by players who paid actual money for a module that was FUBARed intentionally years after its initial release. We all should have been clamoring for an artificial feel system, and common sense interpretation of the limitations 3 years ago. Instead, we hear the same " real fighter pilots never exceed the limitations" BS over and over even when presented with clear evidence that it was expected the limits would be exceeded very regularly.2 points

So last night i ran a long DCS repair, it only identified my reshade files, so left them as is. Ive adjusted my page file to 32GB on both my C:/ drive and my DCS drive (D:/). I ran all the terminal commands you suggested, nothing came up with errors (the chkdsk was done on reboot, and i didnt watch it, but came back to the login screen, so assume it completed without issue). I also wiped my display drivers with DDU, and got the manual driver from nvidia, and also updated all my motherboard drivers too. Both my ssd's (C&D) have plenty of room free, 700GB & 150GB respectively. I also disabled hotplug from inside the controls menu (thanks for the tip). Ive deleted the 2 folders suggested elsewhere too, was it "metashaders 2" & LX something? As far as the BSODs go, that may of been when i was overclocking, after the fresh install, plus msfs24 was buggy as hell at launch, i had several crashes, but systems been good lately. Sooo after all that, just jumped into arctic thunder, the campaign it froze on last night, and everything seemed to work. Was a bit of a stutter at the start, but that reminded me to disable the hotplug controls, and rest was smooth. So far so good, got halfway into the mission, but realized i needed a notepad for co-ords, so had to quit for now Thank you so much for the help Sleighzy, will report back if i have further issues2 points

Scratch that. It's not that simple. Short track attached. Forum quota won't let me, so here's a OneDrive link. https://1drv.ms/u/c/66cf2646234394fc/EYKIwGAvxG5OkVrIcuZjMWwBOWzgeS6bpxAPjcPjYMtogg?e=udJgaJ The current behavior is: 1. The seat adjustment only works with pilot body hidden. Pilot body blocks even commanding seat adjustment with key commands. I mapped RCt+Rsh+RAlt+K for seat down and tried to use it in the track when the pilot body was shown. It didn't work. 2. Seat position is reset very high instantly when turning the pilot body ON and the seat adjustment won't be available from that point. See point 1.2 points

Open the Controls settings, like how you bind controls for planes, there should be a "Disable hot plug" button down the bottom right. It will stop DCS from scanning for new USB devices every few seconds which can cause stutters etc. If you plug in a new device you can just hit the Rescan devices button beside it.2 points

The bars charts I create are usually about 20 seconds long averages. Can be all kinds of missions. The most recent ones are recorded on our own MP server, where I am in a cockpit of a cold A-10C. I run discord and an OBS recording on the side, which consume also FPS, just to get an idea of what my starting position will be. This for me is a good enough indicator because I just focus on the delta between two settings. This way I can compare two settings every 5 minutes or so. This morning I did about 10 changes in an hour. It takes quite some time closing stuff, rebooting, changing BIOS settings, booting(BIOS posting sometimes can take up to a minute or more with the BIOS changes), starting Windows, VR applications, OBS, DCS (sometimes I have to restart DCS a couple of times to get my eye-tracking to work), run the test, look at the results and adjust settings and deciding the next change to test (I keep a script/log with changes/progress). Once I am happy with the optimizations of all the settings I changed, I will run some stress tests to see the numbers over a longer stretch like 10 minutes or so.2 points

The AN/ALQ-144 is an older style IR Jammer ("disco ball" fitted on the KW's tail boom). It was effective against older types of IR missiles with a particular type of seeker head (AFAIK details are still classified). It was replaced on the KW by the newer CMWS, Countermeasures and L2MUM Antenna. The AN/ALQ-144 is available in DCS to allow mission makers to model older airframes - AFAIK there is no reason to choose it over the default CMWS.2 points

I purchased the F-5E remaster, but was disappointed that these items listed below were not included. The A10C v2 and Ka50v3 upgrades had more features than the F-5E. I hope that all the skins that were on the old F-5E will be ported to the new one. I still can't believe that it took about 7,000 hours of work to make this F-5E remaster. The list of items that should have been included in the remaster. •Digital radio, •Aerial refueling probe, •A new radar in the same style as the F-4E, •Being able to arm the aircraft with four AIM-9, •External power (provided by ground cart) in the same style as the F-4E, •External air (provided by ground cart) in the same style as the F-4E, •Boarding ladder and boarding steps. •They say that the dimensions of the F-5E cockpit are wrong and were not corrected in the remaster, but I can't prove it. The F-5E could receive this in the future and the value of the aircraft could be adjusted to $70 or $80. This would be the best case scenario for it to receive all these resources. And finally, I believe this update should be free. If everything I listed was included, I would have paid more than $10, maybe $15 to $20. I hope the next updates are rethought in their format for the Huey, Mi8, L39, F86 and MiG15. I wish the best for ED and I always support its development by purchasing its modules. Apart from the campaigns, I have practically all the modules. I wish the best to ED and thank you! sHMSLIH.mp42 points

If I recall correctly the map was released 11th July which is now five months ago with no updates since. Again no comms on what is going on when a new patch is coming out as I think most people already feel they have already waited 'a little longer'... Sorry to sound harsh but ED, it would be really useful with a bit more comms on what is going on when it is obvious that people are assuming the latest patch would have an update in it.2 points

V12 is NOT compatible with 2.9.10.3948. I'm working on updating the mod right now and hopefully have it out soon. The new fog is a big improvement, but it's still a little buggy. I've noticed some flickering in the fog and artifacts in the cloud rendering so far.2 points
