  1. I dont understand the reason about private mods apart from payed ones. We are here to enjoy the simulation as a comunity.

  2. How can I change the new helmets with the NVG mount against the old style helmets which came with the release oft the module? The new ones do not fit the HIND crews flying in the 1980s for example in Afghanistan.

  4. Before considering classified Su-27M, which would be made up, completely unrealistic and with fictional avionics, weapons, systems, sensors, performance, with zero SME input and fine tuning etc. - let's wait if 1980s Soviet Su-27S will be possible and announced after the 1980s Soviet MiG-29 9.12. Reasonably realistic 1980s Soviet Su-27S, working like the real aircraft, would be a lot better then made up, unrealistic, fictional, extremely simplified Su-27M. When Su-27S would flight along other 1980s Soviet MiG-29, Su-25, MiG-23MLA, Su-17M, MiG-21bis, Mi-24P, Mi-8 etc., and against 1980s NATO F-14A/B, Tornado IDS, A-6E Intruder, A-7E Corsair, Bo-105, Mirage 2000, L-39, IAI Kfir, Mirage F.1, Viggen, Gazelle L, Huey, C-101, F-4E etc.

  5. today I've started to build some budget ffb flight pedals from cheap bicycle parts and some scrap metal. I'll try using 20kg loadcells for the brakes I copied the TPR pedal curve. I'm not yet sure if to make them pendular or stick with the VKB style (i really like the T-rudder motion) I'll try them t-rudder style first and go pendulum if it doesn't work out. null

  13. Hi! Of course you're welcome to ask. First of all let me explain the no specific dates or timetables until things are clear policy: we think it's common in DCS to miss deadlines, which understandably leads to frustration on the customer side. This is not uncommon for software development, even more so for small teams working on complex systems like is the case in DCS. Unpredictable things like team member illnesses, difficulty with implementation of a specific system in DCS, difficult to solve bugs or performance issues can significantly delay a release when working in small, highly specialised teams. Regarding code development, we're currently working on 3 main aspects: F1 radar physics overhaul, F1M menu logic and base input and clickability code overhaul (which is almost complete now). This last part won't be visible to the user but will help a smoother and buggless implementation of the F1M and F-104 input logics. On the 'art' side of things, the F1M cockpit is receiving an overhaul and work. Hope this helps complete the information already provided by @Loukuins

  17. Hi felixx75, the GBU-54 (Laser JDAM) can be programmed in the cockpit, no need to set the laser code on the ground. GBU-12 is a dumb bomb without any databus, ground crew has to set the laser code on the ground.

  20. Yes and No. Since you don't have any laser seeking Maverick, it's useless to have a lasing JTAC (you can still use the TGP to spot the laser though and use it that way). However, depending on how it is set up, the JTAC can also mark with smoke or IR marker, so you can still use it.

  24. Yes, but if you're interested in getting involved in RL aviation, no matter just for fun or professionally, DCS is a very good entry point since you'll learn real stuff and not parallel universes physics and FM like others flight sims out there are. You won't learn it all, you can't from a gaming software, but it's very good stuff to learn from the basics. As I told you, I had many years of "just simulation" experience when I got my license and I flew all the way from starting the aircraft (first time a C172S I had no idea of despite it's a very common ship even on sims) to landing since my very first flight (with an instructor at your side, which is who actually flies the aircraft, but you'll learn and notice that only later on) and I didn't even learned in DCS, I learned with other older and quite lower sims. But, even with my quite ample simulation experience to that point, I didn't take anything for granted, I went to flight school like I knew nothing and wanting to be taught "from zero", it was just I was not at that zero point so I knew what instructors asked me to do so really quite easier to me, but I wanted to listen to every aspect I was told, known for me or not because I wanted to be told all the nuances and subtleties a real life operation has compared to simulation. In short, be humble and listen to everything you're told, known or not, expected or not, and especially when it confronts what you already know, has read or listened before because there you're facing real life and actually your life and maybe others' lives at stake. So, if you want to learn from absolute scratch only with a PC gaming software absolutely everything to be a real pilot, no, currently and for the time being you won't just using pc software (or even professional simulators or software, which are used to train, not to learn from scratch). Does it help though and it really eases the learning curve and you get better and faster real experience if you use a simulator like DCS is on top of your flight school? Yes, it totally does, if that's your concern and the question why you started this thread. Absolutely this .

  26. Hello @bephanten We took some time testing the DCS: A-10C and the DCS:A-10CII being hit by several different rounds, from different aircraft, including the mentioned DCS: Mig-15 Bis cannon, and we couldn't identify any particular receiving damage difference between to two models. Bullet impact can be quite tricky to replicate on the airframes, given that we cannot hit exactly the same place consistently. However, we tested several angles and aimed at different locations (centre mass, wings, engines) and found both models very similar in damage resistance against different rounds. In one engagement, one seemed to be marginally more resistant than the other, but on the next session it would be other way around. In the end, it was our conclusion that you claim that the DCS: A-10CII is more damage resistant than the DCS: A-10C wasn't proven. Of course, we want to ear more from you if you can substantiate your claims with some more evidence from your side.

  28. To the moderator, I was unable to create a new message in the thread with the same title ("This topic is now closed to further replies") so I'm starting a new thread for the same topic, thanks for merging them together! After a long absence from the A10C I wanted to jump back in and was disappointed to learn that this issue is still not resolved, many tracks have already been provided in this long thread and it's an outstanding bug that's been around for a long time, many years ! I was now able to recreate the issue about 5 times in a row, using the Afghanistan instant action mission for the A10CII Runway Start. I will include a track, don't know if it will work and recreate the exact same circumstances, haven't tried it yet myself, but I will try to explain in detail what I'm doing, here goes: After takeoff I make a right turn parallel to the runway (downwind) towards Heras, I drop my stores to lighten up a bit, I continue more or less straight ahead until about 10NM out make a right turn due east overflying the city at very low level. At some point here (more or less before crossing the extended centerline for RWY18) I experience a strong pitch down effect (for which I have to trim to compensate). With the controls window open I didn't notice any shift in Trim nor Elevator input, at least none that I could see clearly. Then I gain some altitude and turn back to the right for a straight in to RWY18. Slowing down and configuring for landing, on speed AoA etc. everything seems to go normally, but just when I'm about to flare the aforementioned pitch down effect seems to be canceled since I'm experiencing a similar pitch effect but this time nose up. OK with this info and a hopefully non-corrupt trk file I hope the ED team can continue investigating. Somebody mentioned it could be related to PAC, that's possible, but again, I didn't see any change in the control input window, so my guess would be that the Centre of Gravity is shifting due to some erroneously changing FM parameter (eg. fuel distribution?). Thanks for looking into it ! A10CII Heras Quick Start Pitch down & up 2.trk

  30. Sounds like I need to go back and look at the frequency setup in the ME for that mission. I think it might have to do with the way I was trying to keep the player from hearing wingmen make calls in what was supposed to be an EMCON environment. You can try the other missions without easy comms but if you run into this issue again, try it with easy comms like you did here. When I have time I'll go back through the mission files and take a look.

  31. Okay, so for whatever reason, now the seat is working again. I did nothing. The only thing i can think of is the other day windows updated to Build v24H2. So maybe it took another day or two for windows to update whatever it needed to, resulting with your program working again. Thanks for looking into it though. Was much appreciated. Dave.

  34. The issue was caused by a strange modification of the mission (the UH-60A is "uncontrolled" yet starts in the air). Devs issued a fix which prevents the combination of these two settings at once). It will be applied in the next DCS core update.

  38. Dude, just a word of encouragement... I've been flying DCS since JAN 2020. AAR almost made me quit entirely. Literally spent weeks (if not months) dedicating all of my DCS time to trying to nail refueling. One day it just clicked... and I wasn't sure why I could all of a sudden do it until about a year later when I joined an online group and started trying to fly formation with other guys. d0ppler's advice is spot on. focus on a que on the tanker, keep the hose in your periphery, but don't focus on it. Take it slow, and when you feel the need to make a correction, input half of what you feel like you need to do. Patience is the name of the game. I know a lot of guys who will also grip the stick (giggity) at the base, rather than toward the top where your hand normally rests, its a good way of dampening your inputs just based on the leverage of your hand position. I fly the hornet, so if you're doing the boom your visual que's and technique may differ slightly, but the core is still the same. Patience, and small adjustments, and never quit moving the throttle. If you keep it in one spot for too long, you're going to be behind the jet. Hopefully something in there helps ya, you'll nail it dude, just keep on pushing!! Also turn the wake turbulence off in the ME if its not already, it'll give you a little bit more grace until you get the hang of it, then once you're confident, turn in on.

  39. Great to see that the IFLOLS has become visible again, so thank you very much for that. I still think the landing lights (on the deck) are too dim and should be visible from further away, hopefully this is still being worked on.

  40. Also, disable Hardware Accelerated GPU Scheduling in Windows settings. It increases input latency and stutter, especially on mid to high end systems when using VR. For me it has been a substantial change in terms of stuttering.

  43. Are there plans to change the controls when in vr for gunners? I find the aiming system to be extremely hard in vr. When set to move with head movement the view angle makes it extremely hard to get any semblance of accuracy. When set to aim with with device, it's pretty much the same.. it's like the vr view is impeding aiming.. cant get a good angle to really aim down the barrel. As for the rear ramp and gunner. Is the requirement to not have a gunner in place to load troops/supplies the way it will stay? I can understand having to remove the gunner for large crates to be loaded.. but not troops they should be able to go around the rear gunner imo. Thanks

  46. In my experience ED have a bad habit of moving on to the next new thing and forgetting the last great thing from 2 release back or so (with slow updates), promising to show so much when they can, but never do with the std line, "we will show you more when its ready" so in essence all ways keeping us the customer in the dark about updates coming to the sim. Im burnt out by the early access model ED uses, I have nearly all the modules, but most of my ED modules I have are still in EA waiting for updates that never happen or do very slowly, Heatblur took the EA model to the next level and it damage my EA faith. I nearly pushed buy today, but reminded my self about my EA burnout, ill wait and see if BN or NL answer my questions.

  47. I'd prefer the loft for the 7 to work correctly. This means that: IF the switch for loft is ON AND IF the aircraft is pitched 20 degrees or more above the horizon AND IF time to target greater than some amount (40 sec) Loft the AIM-7MH. This can work fine for both the 18 and 15 and 14 ... for the 15, just assume the loft switch is always on, but don't loft if the other conditions are not met.
