Hi fighters Today is the cherry on top of our reviews! BERLIN is a divided city on the border of two worlds! The epicenter of the confrontation between NATO and the Warsaw Pact, where every district, airport and monument becomes part of your missions. Berlin: two capitals in one city Alexanderplatz is the heart of East Berlin with the TV tower The Berlin TV Tower is the tallest in Germany (368 m) and the most recognizable symbol of the capital of the GDR and FRG The Reichstag is a legendary building, in the 1980s - a museum on the border with the West. The Brandenburg Gate is a no man's land between the GDR and FRG. Europa-Center is an iconic skyscraper of West Berlin. "-Get in a taxi and say: Europa-Center. Get back and say: Airport. Not difficult." The Berlin Wall is a symbol of the Cold War. The memorial to Soviet soldiers is a reminder of the past war in the center of a new confrontation. Berlin airports – three key points: Tempelhof Airport – the legendary airfield of the "Berlin Air Bridge", then civilian. "British Airways" and "Pan American World Airways" operated flights to Tempelhof Airport until August 31, 1975. "British Airways" and "Pan American World Airways" operated flights to Tempelhof Airport until August 31, 1975. After that, the flights were transferred to Tegel Perhaps you can implement the "Berlin Blockade 2.0" scenario – try to repeat the "Air Bridge of 1948", but this time on a C-130. Tegel (West Berlin) ICAO: EDDT – From 1975 to 1985, Tegel was West Berlin's only passenger airport: Tempelhof was closed to civil aviation. The airport, located in the French sector of Berlin, handled scheduled flights by Air France as well as charter flights by American and British airlines. Schönefeld Airport was the major civil airport of East Germany (GDR) and the only airport of the former East Berlin. The airport was home to Interflug, the state airline of the German Democratic Republic, which in the vast majority of cases used Soviet-made aircraft. Interflug's routes provided mainly Eastern European countries, but also operated flights to Cuba, China, North Korea, Vietnam, and some African countries. The airport received aircraft from Eastern Bloc airlines: Aeroflot, Tarom, Malev. The terminal's distinctive feature was the airport's visitor terrace - These are forgotten inventions of more advanced civilizations. In its place, the new Berlin Brandenburg Airport was built - today the only commercial airport serving Berlin.9 points

Mike, one more time, we are not sharing any details on the discussions being had, we won't be answering any such questions, we are working on a solution, that is all there is to it right now. SharpeXB, just understand that if you are here to poke the group like you tend to do in other threads, let me stop you right here, thanks.6 points

I haven't seen any news passing here about that. Please note @MAESTR0: Releasing this map will make you famous Releasing this map with those civil aircraft and vehicles as placeable static objects, will make you immortal Ok, now I'm off to arrange a fire insurance, because my pc will catch fire running this map in VR.6 points

There are many scenarios with three or more factions that currently we can't really do. Syria, for example, had the Assad government, the rebels, the Kurds, the Turks, the Americans, and the Russians, and while some of these worked together to varying degrees, reducing them to two coalitions removes a lot of nuance from the situation. I'd love to see three (or more) combat factions, and the ability to set each one as allied / neutral / hostile to each other faction. I.e., Green is Neutral with Blue, and Hostile with Red. Ideally, also the ability to change those alliance settings with a trigger mid-mission. Imagine being able to make missions where the American air defense doesn't attack you on sight, but does create a no-go-zone. Where you fly an Israeli strike against an Iranian ship heading for the Suez canal, and Egyptian air defenses are shooting at both you and the Iranian escorts. The possibilities are endless.5 points

I don't understand why people who don't enjoy this thread spend so much time in it, read every post, participate in it with their posts... and then ask that it be closed so others can't participate in it and enjoy it as they see fit. The solution is fantastically simple and ever so easily achieved - ignore this thread. Problem solved. I've lost count of how many have asked that this thread be closed and then continue to participate in it for weeks and months.5 points

This really is an important idea. Personally i would advocate for completely dynamic factions. At the very least you would want to be able to set the name, inter-faction relations and preferably color. Maybe things like flag images can be added too. Not only would this be great for "real" missions. It would also enable multiplayer gamemodes like free-for-all dogfights, or just add much more dynamics to faction vs faction gamemodes. There is the issue of backward-compatibility however. We of course want to be able to continue to run missions made in the past. My suggestion would be to create a conversion tool (that runs automatically upon loading an older mission) which restructures the mission file as required. I don't think this should be too complicated to work around. I do wonder how the current faction system ties into the upcoming dynamic campaign though.4 points

There is one yes, but nothing is up there yet. At the moment, I guess you call the EFM a "closed beta". Bugs are being squashed. I did spend all of yesterday updating the enhancement mod to remove all references to previous FCS modes and did some clean up and decluttering of a few of the displays. I turned the FCS page's mode box into a speed brake indicator. Figured it made sense, since those surfaces are the speed brake. Added the new maps into the clock system file for GMT/Local time and a static map for the map pages. I still hope there will be a way to make the map more useful in the future. The enhancement version here, is not exactly the same as the historical version that's already being worked on. The historical version will have its system pages based on the MSFS version of the F22. It's based largely on the enhancement version and just updated as needed. In case anyone cares, I HAVE NO ISSUE WITH THAT. What I'd always hoped is that the community would take the sum of what's out there and made something greater than its parts. Having a few different options isn't a terrible thing, especially when you consider the main difference will be the cockpit displays. So, even in multi-player, I can't imagine it would matter if someone had the historical version and someone had the enhancement version. Each would see the displays/interface they want to use. My personal install right now, is a combination of the GD3.0 base, the enhancement mod, and BHoops BIN/DLL being called from the F22A.lua. It all works together quite well. So, it's coming, we'll keep you all posted.4 points

MFT, how do you know that they didn‘t? And what, in your opinion constitutes a „bonafide, legitimate, serious, real-world offer“? To not put you in the spotlight, you can make a +/-10% estimate. I hate shilling for ED, but the amount of armchair quarterbacking from clowns is becoming egregious. Let’s all just STFU and not become silly muppets in this farce. @BIGNEWY, please close this thread, it reads like a bad Kafkaesque.4 points

So I recently got a new collective after selling off my PFT Puma a few years ago when started DCS, the PUMA did not fit in with my rig anymore. So of course I am now an a helicopter kick in a big way. I get a hold of the OH-6A & the Blackhawk. And just like that these 2 are my faves. Thank you for doing a mind blowing job on this bird. It is a challenge to fly but damn it's fun & looks amazing! A big thank you!!4 points

Ending the contract also means to actually kill the modules. Do you think customers would have been happy with such a decision taken by ED? People would go to the ED headquarters with torches and pitchforks! ED has his share of blame, but again, is RB that put on this blackmail while they cound have handled the dispute in a different way.3 points

Who said anything about concrete or 100% accuracy? We all know that the APG-81 is too classified to get hard data. The point is to get as close as possible through knowledge of first principles and what you can glean through open sources. Idk about you but i would much rather have a 60% approximation than none at all. You're the claimed EW Engineer, how about you tell us? I know you're asking these questions in bad faith so you'll probably scoff and dismiss the answer like this is some kind of black magic forbidden knowledge. But i'll go ahead and list some of the stuff stimson's touched on anyway. - Pulse Compression in its normal forms - Pulse Compression using pseudorandom codes in more secure formats - PRF Jitter/Switching - Pulse to Pulse/CPI to CPI frequency agility - Phase shifting elements to null antenna gain in the direction of a jammer to counter high power jamming signals. - Leading Edge Tracking to counter gate stealers It boils down to being unpredictable. If the jammer can't know what waveform to send back or isnt sophisticated enough to match parts of the waveform then signals get rejected. You use parameters that you know, and fill in the blanks with first principle knowledge, idk what is hard to understand about this concept. Sensitive receivers will detect low power pulses from longer range than noisier ones, more advanced detection algorithm's can decode higher complexity compression and frequency hopping schemes. And for that matter who says it would be exclusively transmitting LPI waveforms? It's not a free lunch has associated costs that can be detrimental to overall detection performance. You're trying to gish gallop me in attempt dismiss and discredit the broader point that you can in fact get more than "closer to 0%" by working on first principles of RF/DSP/Phased Array/EW theory to build a really damn good Electronic Warfare simulation that isn't TS/SCI. The game itself has a long way to go in RF modelling to get where it should be, and i said as much in the OP. But it's not "impossible".3 points

If I'd known that, I'd have asked for as seat up there in the nacelle. They did a high speend run, one evening out of St Mawgan (Cornwall). There was a short briefing, and we asked if it could go through the sound barrier. It was pointed out, that with 4 Olympus engines, same as the Vulcan, it would in theory be no problem, but the wing panels might get a bit bent, so that was not going to get demonstrated. A while later, In the middle of this, I had to go to the loo, no problem, unplugged headset...got in the loo, replugged after I was sat down to hear,"Hi speed right turn, HANG ON, GO!".......Not the best position to be in on a high speed turn, I can vouch for that, MAN did I HANG ON! I sort of fell out of the loo after the turn and the Nav spotted me, They all got very concerned that I was ok,,,,I was. They had forgotten about us passengers, and they knew never to be there.....lesson learned. lol.3 points

Just think of the time, effort, and expenditure that could be saved if aircraft builders didn't have to install wings at all, and just installed an angle instead!3 points

@Maestro so hello, i'm so impressesd by the videos, awesome ! BUT there is a little detail which isn't correct. In some videos an elecrolocomotive is driving around, the map represents the late 80's, the locomtive is clearly a BR250 the so called Energiecontainer and belongs to Deutsche Reichsbahn and has the wrong colors for the time period (and it's driving in the wrong -imperialistic- part of gemany)-just for fun-... All (or the most) locomotives of DR had beside of the older green ones this much nicer and darker bordeaux-red instead of traffic-red or orient-red which came later after reunification and the merge between DR and DB mostly after overhauls or retofits. It's hard to find any pictures, but there are still some original paintet loco's around. Here is an example of an model showing the correct color scheme. btw this model costs more then 300 Euros !!! Please correct this, many thanks ! Maybe you can keep the other other paint and make some kind of liveries...2 points

With the Cold war Germany map coming out, and for cold war scenarios in general we are missing a handful of crucial Air defence systems to flesh out the air defence forces. Specifically SA-4, SA-7, 7B, SA-14 and the Nike Hercules systems. Also the british Bloodhound system could be good to have but not as critical.2 points

For Reflected's campaigns, you don't need to touch Jester at all. Not even in Zone 5, which is more freeform and where comms helps sometimes. In those campaigns, he will talk to you. In general, he acts very human-like there. Also, even in stock Reforger II campaign, he will talk you on and even fire missiles by himself. In a campaign, there's plenty of ways to script Jester so he becomes more proactive. Jester comms are mostly useful in MP, and in dynamic campaigns where you'd need a very advanced AI to script those things. In campaigns, just about the only thing I did was control his scanning behavior. Between Jester scripting and TWS-Auto, you can really afford to focus on flying, instead of trying to do two jobs at once.2 points

Keep in mind, that 45s were a very primitive weapon, with a short range (about 10 mikes).2 points

The helicopter is relatively stable until it isn't. When trying to hover OGE it yaws erratically like if the SAS couldn't damper it (not saturated) and gets difficult to control. Now its WAY more difficult to move laterally than before with a lot of yaw corrections needed below 25knots, it wasn't so erratic before.2 points

Turn off the little watch at the bottom of mission editor. It's quite useless. As it's to specific. The 109K4 wasn't produced until latter half of 44. And since ED hasn't made even an AI model of an earlier 109. That's what we're stuck with. That stop watch isn't very useful as there are few to variations of aircraft. This isn't just for ww2 But wont let you select the MiG21Bis until far into the 70 or 80s for many countries. As those countries used earlier models.2 points

Just run a slow repair on DCS, it will check all game files and redownload corrupt/missing files. This is the same as deleting + reinstalling DCS, except doesn't unnecessarily redownload everything. What makes a bigger difference is starting with a new Saved Games folder. Don't copy the old folder to the new PC. Start fresh. For keybinds you can use my script to automatically restore them on new PC:2 points

Consider that if early access releases weren't a thing then some of the modules we have/had might not ever have existed. The EA model allows for money to come in to fund ongoing development. Without it you've got to find all the funds upfront to develop a feature-complete product, which significantly raises the bar of entry (and bear in mind a lot of modules take years to just reach initial EA standard).2 points

No kidding. I've just dropped an ungodly amount on an PCIE 5 M2 just so DCS can wholly fit (along with some other choice titles) on my main disk. DCS already exceeds 1T, so hit me, Ugra, I now have 3T for you. AND my credit card still is lukewarm.2 points

Hi Alphas! Today we show the main metropolis of our map, the "Alpha city" - Frankfurt am Main, "Alpha airport" - the largest airport in Germany and "Alpha airbase" - the legendary NATO base Ramstein - the heart of Europe in the fire of the Cold War! Frankfurt am Main is the center of commerce, culture, education, tourism and transport hub of Germany. All the best here. Frankfurt Railway - a key railway hub of continental Europe (an ideal target for strikes on logistics). Europaturm is a television and radio broadcasting tower located in Frankfurt am Main. Height - 337.5 meters. Westend_Gate - one of the first skyscrapers of the FRG (1976) - 159 m Silberturm (Silver Tower), 166.3 m futurist skyscraper City-Haus. (142.1 m) Frankfurt Airport (EDDF) – the largest airport in Europe in the 1980s, is a dual-base airfield: cargo for NATO was transported through EDFF General plan – giant runways and terminals. Terminal with statics – Lufthansa, Pan Am and other legends. and most importantly Ramstein is the main US Air Force base in Europe. This is where they decide where the bombers will sow democracy. From here you will have the most flights. BUT if you look at the world through the sights of a Sukhoi or MiG, then this base will be the place where the final boss sits. Ready to fly? It's time to put this world in order.2 points

Would certainly be great to have all of CH's mods be part of the core DCS. An update would certainly be appreciated2 points

Stats can be misleading without context. USAF strike crews of the time were based in Thailand, which was approximately a 700 mile flight one way. When the round trip from base to target and back is 2,240 kilometers fuel and payload become primary metrics. One of the lesser known reasons USAF Phantom II crews couldn’t match their Navy equivalents in MiG kills was fuel range. Naval fighters were based near the coast, and could surprise North Vietnamese air defense teams with unpredictable arrival vectors. USAF crews had an exponentially longer trip and were identified hours before entering North Vietnam. A consistent refrain you see in the Red Baron reports on MiG engagements that didn’t end in a kill was fuel concerns, which makes sense given the distances. The F-104 was not designed for that kind of long-range aerial campaign. It was built on the lessons of Korea, which was a much smaller battlespace. Further its refueling system - probe/drogue- was incompatible with the boom system established by SAC to refuel their bombers. The final nail in the F-104s air to air career in Vietnam was the North Vietnamese. They had radar and ELINT SA on US aircraft movements and knew to steer well clear of the Starfighters. While this was to the advantage of the EC-121s , Operation Bolo F-4Cs and EB-66s those Starfighters escorted, it meant their odds of fighting a MiG were very low no matter how competent the aircraft and crew. The one engagement on record between an F-104 flight and a single MiG-21 ended with the Fishbed-D pilot punching tanks and running away. A wise decision by the MiG pilot , but hardly the stuff of MiG killer books and movies.2 points

I made my first flight in the Phantom a couple days ago. I had to make a no-flaps landing as I had not followed the 6 p's in my preflight (proper preparation prevents piss poor performance). We landed safely at Nellis. And as I was patting myself on the back, Jester tells me that now he can retire with disability pay. At least I didn't bend the jet.2 points

Interesting!, Maybe for the region generally, but for the Iraq map? It's a long way from here and my history's not so good, but I thought Turkey sat the Iran-Iraq war out, were essentially uninvolved in Gulf War 1 and actively refused to be involved in Gulf War 2? I know they've struck Kurdish groups they designate terrorists in the area, but overall, I thought their involvement in Iraq had been pretty low? I'd have thought adding some more Iranian airbases would have added more to the utility of the map... 5 minutes of googling tells me that the following are all roughly the same distance or closer than Diyarbakir to Iraq and all saw action from day 1 of the Iran- Iraq war: Shiraz, Sanandaj, Ahvaz (where the Iran - Iraq war started), Kermanshah, Bushehr, Dezful No?2 points

The F-4 is fun, too, you just have to use it right. Jester will probably get better if he can tweak gain and such, but the other period radars are too good, in that you can use them to search airspace reasonably well, without many of the issues that affected them IRL. In fact, you generally don't have to mess with gain and only drop lock from notching. Realistically, you should not be getting BVR locks on fighter-sized targets from any of those platforms. The primary method of acquiring targets in fighters of the time was visual and GCI/AWACS calls. Much of the time, they would not even turn on their radars until they had a good tally. This is why SPO-10 was a perfectly sufficient RWR for its era. If you were being painted by something that caused SPO-10 to beep, that usually meant it was preparing to shoot you. The MiG-25 was probably the first fighter with a search radar that was worth a damn, followed by F-14 and F-15. Before that, the radar was primarily for guiding missiles and getting range for the gunsight.2 points
