30 May 2025 Dear Fighter Pilots, Partners and Friends, We have released a hotfix for the latest update based on your feedback and our additional testing. Also, we have squeezed in a couple fixes for older issues. Please update your build to the latest version. The F4U-1D Corsair by Magnitude LLC is progressing well and is now in testing! Its launch will be based on results of careful testing and creating content for it. We kindly invite you to read the details below of this amazing aircraft and stay tuned for early access! Please watch this DCS / Pimax Interview to discover how Pimax and Eagle Dynamics works together to push the boundaries of flight simulation with cutting-edge VR immersion and stunning realism. If you or someone with a disability that is interested in getting involved with flight simulations, the DCS 4 Disabilities Discord group is your next stop! This group can help adapt your controllers, write scripts to improve accessibility, and test ergonomic layouts. Thank you for your passion and support. Yours sincerely, Eagle Dynamics DCS Hotfix Development Progress Quick fixes based on your feedback This hotfix aims to resolve several issues that came to light following the last DCS update. Also, we have included a couple fixes for issues found earlier but we could squeeze in this hotfix with everything else. We have written a quick fix for high CPU load that occurs on the main menu and was observed and reported by the community after the last update. We have also included Quick Action Generator changes such as a "Random" skill level to Al and a fix for missions not regenerated even when the "regenerate" button is pressed. We solved a couple more long-standing issues and added them to this update; problems with track replays not saving properly and an infantry disembarkment issue when a mission is running on a dedicated server. Finally, issues with the multiplayer scoreboard not updating properly has also been resolved. F4U-1D Corsair Development Progress Since 2017, Magnitude 3 LLC has dedicated immense effort to bring this iconic World War II fighter to DCS. It played a pivotal role in the Pacific Theater of Operations (PTO), and it became a symbol of aerial prowess thanks to its speed, climb rate, and toughness. It even had a smaller role in the European Theater of Operations. Developing this module has proven more challenging than the Magnitude team anticipated. The Corsair's unusual design was revolutionary for its time, and its flight dynamics are complex. The combination of a powerful engine and huge propeller; its distinctive gull wings; large flaps; and its robust landing gear that also acted as an airbrake created a challenge in airflow dynamics and handling characteristics. We Solved It “While perfection is an elusive goal, we do not claim our Flight Model (FM) to be flawless; we acknowledge that there is always room for further refinement and improvements. However, the current FM has been thoroughly validated and closely mirrors the real aircraft's behavior, surpassing the realism of any previous Corsair FM developed for flight simulators.” - Magnitude 3 LLC It Only Gets Better “Currently, we have a few remaining items on our development list for the module. For example, the implementation of the "Bat Bomb" (ASM-N-2 Bat), for which the initial implementation is complete. Further work will ensure its seamless integration into the DCS environment.” - Magnitude 3 LLC Key Features in Early Access: High-quality external 3D model Fully clickable cockpit with 6 Degrees of Freedom (6DoF) and the latest visual effects Flight Dynamics based on official reports, CFD research, and pilot feedback Engine and propeller control systems Fuel system and optional external tanks Electrical system Hydraulic and pneumatic systems Radio-navigation systems Structure-based damage model Carrier-capable aircraft Manual in English (PDF format) Early Access Weapons: 6 x 0.50-inch (12.7 mm) M2 Browning machine guns 8 x 5-inch (12.7 cm) High-Velocity Aircraft Rockets (HVAR) External fuel tanks and bombs up to 4,000 lb (1,800 kg) To enhance the Corsair experience, Magnitude 3 LLC will include an Essex-class aircraft carrier. This ship class was a pivotal PTO component of U.S. naval power, and it was one of the most numerous capital ship classes of the 20th century. Of the 24 Essex-class carriers built, none were lost to enemy action, although several sustained significant battle damage. These carriers were veritable fortresses at sea that could carry approximately 90 aircraft on their armored hull and decks. It was also equipped with numerous weapons. In our version of the Essex, you will get: 4 x 127mm single cannons 4 x 127mm twin cannons 17 x 40mm Bofors guns 20 x 20mm twin Oerlikon guns 50 x 20mm single Oerlikon guns Magnitude 3 will also introduce eight Imperial Japanese ground units that includes trucks, anti-aircraft artillery, and tanks. These will be a fantastic addition to the upcoming, free, Mariana Islands World War II map. The AI Corsair, Essex-class aircraft carrier, and Imperial Japanese ground units will be available for all DCS players to ensure singleplayer and multiplayer compatibility. “As we near this significant milestone, we wish to convey our deepest appreciation for your remarkable support and enduring patience throughout these dedicated years. This project, without question, represents the longest and most demanding endeavor we have pursued within the DCS environment.” – Magnitude 3 LLC DCS x PIMAX Interview Pimax and Eagle Dynamics senior producer Matt “Wags” Wagner discusses how virtual reality is reshaping flight simulation, what goes into bringing DCS aircraft to life in VR, and their thoughts on the history, current state, and future of VR in DCS. Watch the full interview. DCS 4 Disabilities Community Highlight Among the many squadrons that fill the DCS virtual skies, few are as remarkable as DCS 4 Disabilities. This volunteer-run group began with a single wish: To make the cockpit feel welcoming to aviators whose bodies ask a little more patience from them. Their Discord has become a place where veterans with chronic pain, pilots who can fly only short stints, and newcomers who need adapted controls, trade tips, swap mission files, and share laughs. Today, we want to share one of their brightest stories. Lars, callsign Yoda, is a Swiss law student with severely restricted upper-body movement. For months he relied on a friend to act as his co-pilot and wear a head-tracker while he managed radios, weapons, and checklists. But the dream of looking around his cockpit never faded. When VR proved impractical, the group’s search led to Tobii eye-tracking. With it, Yoda’s gaze now translates into fluid head motion, freeing him to scan for bandits and lean into the turn as any other virtual fighter pilot. DCS 4 Disabilities is gathering footage of Yoda’s setup for a forthcoming YouTube series to inspire and spread awareness about accessibility in DCS. What began as a handful of determined fliers is fast becoming a beacon for accessible simulation. Thank you again for your passion and support, Yours sincerely,6 points

Hi everyone, It's been discussed (though has not yet been a topic of) several other threads but I thought this could really do with its own. Currently quite a number of runways, taxiways, aprons and a fair few roads have this prominent sand-like texture surrounding them like a border. For example, here's promotional material of Spangdahlem, taken from this post. There's a number of other errors clearly visible in these images also (for instance, all of the hardened aircraft shelters are the wrong type and the open parking spots are marked as helipads when they aren't, several other structures look like they were taken from Syria and aren't that accurate either). The layout however is broadly correct. By comparison, here's a satellite photo, taken summer 2018 (the lighter area is actually from March 2017): And here are a few close-up shots: It can clearly be seen that areas of mud/dirt/sand are few and far between and in the overwhelming majority of areas, the grass goes right up to taxiways, runways, aprons etc. This is further backed up by photos taken on the airbase (these from mid May 2023, sourced from here) These from the end of May 2020: This from May 2024 It should be very clear that the sand-coloured boundary surrounding the paved surfaces is incorrect - at the very least it should be made much more sparse, as IRL, nearly every image shows more-or-less uniform grass right up to them. With these you could also make the argument that the grass texture should be darker. You could make very similar analysis at the majority of airbases, not just Spangdahlem. Yes, you sometimes see brown/dry grass, but it'll be much more uniform and not patchy (it's not like the sun only illuminates certain areas of grass). Sometimes, there is mud/dirt/sand but unless significant construction work is going it's few and far between, not all over the place as it is currently. Personally, fixing this would fairly dramatically improve the realism of these airbases.4 points

Going through this old thread, it was a bug that ended up getting reported after a lot of back and forth. I changed my cockpit display res to 512 deleted the fxo and metashaders2 after changing the cockpit display from 256 to 512. Just changing the cockpit res is not good enough, you MUST delete the two folders after making the change for the problem to get resolved. Got the crosses just fine now. Maybe the bug that was reported earlier showed back up?3 points

for me its a deal breaker, the F-5E was cheap at only us$ 10 but I still regret the purchase and have barely flown it. I have also passed on the Mig-29 and will refuse to spend money on aircraft that can’t have user skins nor can their cockpits be loaded on the ModelViewer3 points

-------UPDATE 250531 Removed F-15C Fuel tank as the connector never did match up with the pylon on the F-22A model. Removed 4xAIM-200A Rack as it's redundant with having the 2x racks as you can load those on the inner and mid stations. Replaced AIM-200A model with a new version with corrected attachment point -Spino Aligned AIM-200A for all bays. Adjusted AIM-200A textures. Adjusted AIM-200A exhaust position. Adjusted AIM-272A exhaust position. Created W25 tactical nuclear warhead (The W25 was a small nuclear warhead that was developed by the Los Alamos Scientific Laboratory for air-defense use. It was a fission device with a nominal yield of 1.7 kt) Replaced the warhead on the nuclear Mako and Meteor with this warhead. The previous was a 5kt warhead which wasn't realistic so this is now based on an actual warhead and is 34% of the previous yield. The blast radius is about 5nm. I would not suggest shooting it at anything your flying towards that's less than 10nm away. This makes employing them somewhat more "practical" with less chance of nuking yourself.2 points

Every modern GPU could run VR only depend on what resolution. Consider this for example Q3 in VD on Godlike is looking in VR like 1080p 27" monitor. I'm talking now about pixel density and impression you got. With 9060XT you will probably running it on High preset in VR. That is lower resolution of rendering so pixels will be more noticeable like for example you are reducing resolution on 1080p monitor to increase in game performances. Also VR is compromise so level of details and resolution combine with Hz. Run at 72Hz with motion reprojection on you will need 36FPS. In VR we are not looking at average but minimum FPS. FPS shouldn't drop below 36 to keep it smooth. 9060XT in VR is doable, it is like 3080, 6800XT, 4070 or 7700XT. But don't expect too much, have in mind low budget equal low expectation.2 points

Hello everyone. This is my first post, but I've been modding aircraft and hacking video games since the early nineties. I noticed the same thing in the damage system, where the cockpit disappears, and also the smallest number of rounds impacting shreds the aircraft. I code for a living and I checked out @bhoop19 GitHub repository two weeks before this was released, and I've been playing with some of the C++. I'm trying changes with the damage events that have gotten different behavior when a tail is cut off, or an aileron or elevon is removed, but causing other issues I'm trying to address. I've separated the tails and rudders that currently are mapped in code to a single vertical tail, and applied independent damage and integrity. I've updated wing integrity to apply on percentages for the different sections instead of one part destroying the whole wing in code, and all it's aerodynamic forces. I think I can get the FCS page working again with good indicators on control surface position. And just for fun, I implemented a thrust vectoring roll assist that can independently point thrust for each engine to do some slightly faster rolls, but some real weird stall maneuvers lol (the real F-22 doesn't do this). I hope to contact @Nightstorm and @bhoop19 in a few weeks if I can get some things working well enough to contribute, if they'll allow it.2 points

DCS is now multi core. From what I’ve seen, it seems to primarily be using 4 cores. The 13 and 14 series both suffer from potential degradation issues. I’ve not looked into the details as I didn’t buy one. The AMD 7800x3d and then 9800x3d have pretty much consistently been shown in benchmarks to be a little faster than the Intels, a little cheaper and use less power. The only concern I’ve seen is with the use of memory. Seems that AMD have still to fully resolve their memory management, meaning that it you want reliability, only buy a single pair of RAM. Right now, the largest fast DDR5 module that can be bought is 48GB. 64GB will currently happily run DCS. If however I was building a new rig, I’d be inclined to go for 96GB for at least a little future proofing.2 points

Unfortunately, SEAD missions are currently not possible; the AGM45 Shrike in this Mod is buggy. Attached is a trk file for approaches to the SA-6 and SA-8 with the AGM-45B. The correct seekers (MK-22 for the SA-6 and MK49.0 for the SA-8) are installed, but locking is not possible. Edit: That's been resolved. The A-4E-C manual is incorrect. It specifies the wrong seekers to use for the various radars. If you're looking for the correct ones, check out the HB F-4 manual: https://f4.manuals.heatblur.se/stores/air_to_ground/missiles/shrike.html The A-4E team is aware of this and will update there manual.2 points

Glad to see the mod being put to good use! Even though it's not exactly Vietnam, lol We've now fixed the pylon numbering of the MiG-21MF and reverted the Bird Dog propeller, removing the issue. Depending on available time, 1.1.2 will be out next week. We have quite a few aircraft under development and also plans to improve and expand the ship line further. It's too early to tell what lands in 1.2.0, but I hope for a red fighter, a blue recce bird, and an update to an existing helo Cheers, TeTeT2 points

Another Tanker request. Other than adding more tankers to the museum it would be really helpful if we got call outs especially for the KC-135 boom. Especially at night with the night PDL light bug that seems not be a priority. Real boom operators give the pilots call outs. "Up 2, Up 1, Back 1, Forward 2." etc etc. And for night time operations with the elevation PDL light being almost impossible to see along with the tanker(lack of flood lights like the real KC-135) the tanker is almost impossible to see depending on graphic settings. There is obviously some sort of tracking script/AI that allows the boom to move and track an aircraft, can't imagine it would be to difficult to add a callout function in relation to the current method.2 points
