Sorry, I'm all in for supporting the developers, but the subscription marketing model is awful .. the moment your income situation changes (retiring, losing our job for a while, a serious disease) you lose access to your software, media entertainment, cloud storage, etc, etc ... I much rather purchase rather than subscribing.15 points

Hi, we still have plans, however some assets are taking longer than others, so its something for the future, once we have more news we will let you all know. thank you12 points

VAICOM RELEASE 3.0.5.3 I'm excited to say the latest release update is now available on GitHub or via your auto updaters. A lot of work has gone into this patch and I think you guys will like it. This update adds a new hooking method for DCS and a major lua optimization, which brings a faster communication rate between Vaicom and DCS. Along with better logging of message construction and passing when set to debug and new file handling routines. It also makes many fixes, brings better Kneeboard data management and stops the phantom Scripts file that was being generated in the root directory during file writing. - Fixes the rearming command to ensure the Mission Resources dialog pops up. - Fixes NVG, HMD, Inertial starter commands and other special commands. - Fixes “request taxi for takeoff” bug - Fixes Supercarrier verification bug - Fixes lua code reset behavior and expands to cleanup legacy export.lua hook if present. - New Kneeboard frequency priority for recipients UHF>VHF>FM. - New faster two-way communications rate between DCS and Vaicom. - New safe handling of export.lua and better logging. - New lua code optimization for many appended files. - New Vaicom UI window handling now will not remain on top of other windows. **ALL USERS NEED TO DO A RESET OF THEIR LUA CODE USING THE RESET TAB OF THE VAICOM UI.** This is important, If you do not perform this reset the legacy entry will remain and Vaicom will not connect to DCS KNOWN ISSUES - None8 points

Dear all, we have cleaned this thread. For now, this thread will remain locked as it has become more work than it needs to be. Currently, we have generally the same 10 or so people debating different things releated or unrelated to this topic. It ends up in angry people, warnings and misunderstandings. When there is something new, it will be added to the 1st post in this thread. If it's something that needs discussion, we will consider opening this thread. Any new threads opened on this topic will be removed. If you have questions about items in the 1st post here, you can send us a DM. Thanks. The ED Team.6 points

Yes, because I want to see a couple items cleaned up before creating a video that may soon be inaccurate.5 points

MB-339 has it's integrated GPS system. This also has the maps airfields, radio beacons and so on in it's database for selection. So no need for the NS430 in my opinion. It also can be used with a text file based data card. With the newly added option of the DTC in DCS ME (currently for F-16 and -18) this would be a nice addition to the MB-339.5 points

To manage expectations: Vehicles will 100% be transportable/airdroppable on release. Whether or not that means that you will see them drive up the ramp is a different question, and one I'm not prepared to answer. I'd like to do it, and I have a plan to do so, but its not the highest priority item on the outstanding work list.5 points

I totally agree. Creating WWII missions with accurate and realistic AI units is a lot more fun than without. These 3D models don't create themselves and I'm more than happy to pay a little contribution!5 points

Here is looking at it from the other side, have the planes, maps, WWII assets. Creator makes Mosquito campaign saying no WII assets required, instant turn off, I don't buy the campaign, don't want to shoot at modern Russian armor. No one works for free, assets pack is high quality, and not too expensive , which can give you hundreds of hrs of enjoyment. This hobby might seem expensive but the cost divided by the amount of hrs we use it, its one of the best bang for the buck hobbies.5 points

Thanks so much, it means a lot to me. This is my first attempt at a real campaign and I am sorry the experience started with a bug. The more I am happy you enjoy it now4 points

Hi, I use the argument 32 - bord numbers, second digit to present the MiG23 MDL. Works good so far ... interesting as long as there is no switch in DCS ... Damage models next ... Hope it will be good. Cheers TOM4 points

null Hello everyone, I am starting to create a package of liveries for Polish MI-8 and MI-24 helicopters from the 1990s. I have initially created 4 paint schemes for the MI-8 helicopter and 2 paint schemes for the MI-24 helicopter. As mentioned in another thread in this forum it would be a pity to miss ESFJ, i.e. Sjöbo/Björka which is a Swedish military reserve airfield (roadbase) complete with a main airstrip and reserve roadstrips and dispersed hangars and parking slots for aircraft. Sturup (ESMS) which has been confirmed as part of phase two will be a very nice addition but it's not a military airfield and seldom used as such while Björka would add a realistic base for Swedish military aircraft on this map and it's actually within the given phase 2 border already. The Super arrived today minus DMAS, they will arrive later. Ordered 12 Feb so one day short of 6 months to deliver. Early testing shows amazing clarity. I borrowed the DMAS from my original Crystal and that worked just fine. Still exploring software tweaks, but 90 hz produces best frame time over 72 hz.3 points

Frankly, the whole reputation of the Starfighter in Germany was decidedly blown out of proportion by a contemporary media campaign and the concurrent bribery scandal. Once it had that reputation there was nothing to be done to change it again. A lot of it had to do less with the F-104G or its mission profiles and more with the Luftwaffe itself.3 points

This is hilarious, I always cal lit German spoken underwater. For reference, the F-84 and F-86 had an even worse accident rate in Germany, but nobody goes around calling the Sabre a widowmaker...3 points

The recent update broke something on DCS engine side. This is a known (and already reported) issue, the team is investigating. Cheers3 points

Hello Tom ! When assigning the pair of numbers as one decal, the Args for the first two numbers are 31 and 32, for a second number it would be 442. In the ME the sequence of the board numbers starts with the lowest Arg, so Arg 31 for the last two numbers is 3. The first number at 100 would then be 1 = Arg 442; 0 = Arg 31 and 0 = Arg 32. Unfortunately, I notice that you are not using the roughmet textures I created for the fuselage on the left and right. Worse still, you are not using any roughmet at all because the name for it is wrong. You have entered a SPECULAR assignment and therefore only the gray tones from your assigned texture are read. You'll notice this immediately if you copy the two textures "gdr-jg9-no591-right_roughmet.dds" and "gdr-jg9-no591-right_roughmet.dds" from my texture folder into yours. Since these don't exist in your case, you can do it without hesitation. The reason for this is that roughmet textures are automatically loaded with the base textures, and only if they exist can a false entry be loaded for them in the description of a livery. You can see what I mean by the inclination of the fender on the main landing gear in the picture.3 points

I think you're right. I found Quadviews Fixed Foveated Rendering quite helpful back when I was running the HP Reverb. However it gives a lot more control and adjustments than the new Pimax feature. For the PCL - we would need the ability to offset the horizontal and vertical area. (Moreso the vertical area) like the QFVR app. I do like that Pimax is moving forward in trying to incorporate more natively into their system, saving us having additional separate process inbetween DCS and the headset, but at the same time it needs to be of benefit. I'm guessing this is solely focused on improving the super. I'm still on a version in the .20's (Can't remember exactly which). I've been waiting to upgrade for both features, and a stable version - but so far, reading in the following, it seems people are still rolling back. I guess if there's no new features that are going to help, and mine is working as is - I won't risk breaking it. I was contemplating taking the risk in trying to update if there was going to be any significant reward, but for now it sounds like there's no reward for the PCL.3 points

another thing that I’ve seen a lot on this Forum, are new users that think they know best how to run a software development company… maybe you are the exception and a true genius at running business, but so far I’m not impressed.3 points

Wow! I guess the guy who has devoted over a year to this project to provide us with an enjoyable MOD didn't do any research on the F-23A. Enclosed is a cropped image from a file that matches source documents of what the F-23A would look like. If you click on the link you'll be able to see plenty of detail concerning the F-23A. https://i.imgur.com/a5ytmhg.jpeg This is the book I immediately referenced in regards to F-23A schematics (pg 102), there are English captions. I wasn't, but at some time I became interested in the whole 104 affair and it soon showed that lots of strong opinins on the jet aren't based on proper understanding. That in large part is due to the smear campaigns by the press, wanting to hit back at FJ Strauss who had a news-magazine raided earlier. And because journos like to copy each other instead of actually going for a story. The story should not have been based on the "$h1tty jet", but on the fact that the whole organisation was incapable of technically and logistically supporting it, while other, smaller nations did a much better job. That was in part due to the 10-year post war hiatus of operting any kind of aeroplanes, but that's also a convenient excuse for organisational blunder. Parallels to current events are purely coincidental... For people that are actually interested in the 104G/ CF, get a copy of this book. It does a good job of explaining the strenghts and weaknesses of the 104 in it's recce and strike mission in the RCAF (mostly OPS'ing over Germany) and the general state of mind of 1960s and '70s Starfighter pilots. It helps understanding why so many jets crashed, flying an inherently dangerous mission - all weather low level strike and reconnaissance. I can't recommend this book highly enough - if you can only own one book on the 104, it should be this one. It's been out of print for a long time, but it should surface in the bay every once in a while: null3 points

Unfortunately, after many hours of trying to fix some things in code, I decided that we will go back to normal Su-25A simplified weapon control panel. Mixing avSimpleWeaponSystem with FC3 causes some interfierence and bugs that I am unable to fix with code. So, for the sake of simplicity and better user experience, weapon controll panel will work- like in Su-25A Dont worry - still clickable I also added A/G / A/A selector, reworked ripple and interval selectors for su25a avionics and added jettison and main arming panel (master arm, LA override, cannon load) There might still be some bugs, but the main functionalites are working, and I'd like to finish the mod even with some impurities to fix for later.3 points

I always wonder how people who spent thousands of Euros or Dollars on the appropriate hardware for the game argue about the price of a single module or in this case of a cheap assets pack … sorry, can‘t understand.3 points

UPDATE v2.72 Finally added working aerial refueling, works both for player (could not do it to test it all the way due to a lack of skill) and AI aircraft, added slats animation, which activates when above 8000m and below 0,8M - from documentation I found. Some SFM tweaks on subsonic regimes. Also huge thanks to Brzoza - @StalkerXDPL for many great new liveries and hopefully many more to come in the future.3 points

I suppose this is a feature of the real plane and something we could do with scripting missions or multiplayer servers... BUT maybe there is a miracle, and we are talking about a system you guys are working on to produce those missions in DCS so we can fly them offline(bought the plane already): Dynamic Missions: Fly diverse mission profiles such as tactical deployments, covert special operations, or humanitarian aid flights; all of which highlight the operational versatility of the Super Hercules.2 points

Solved it!! I set up in Pimax play at 90hz but launch striaght from DCS... On my DCS settings... slid the FPS units down to 70fps...... everything on most maps no longer has stutters nor blurs Maps Like Germany, Marianas still have them as Im not sure they are optimised yet for VR... Now I can fiinally say WOW2 points

Hello @Calvin.Pimax, thank you for contacting me. I was unable to respond to your private message until today, as I did not have time over the weekend. I have sent you the current ticket number via private message. In my last message to the young lady from the support team, I wrote that I can only accept another replacement if it is actually a headset with a guaranteed new optical unit. This message may be delaying everything! I don't know. I am 99% sure that the last replacement wasn't a new optical unit. The fact that 5 of the 6 previously reported problems are exactly the same again, and that the third point (chromatic aberration, triple vision in 3 different colors) is less pronounced because the brightness of the displays has been reduced, is a pretty big clue for me. However, I did not report the seventh issue because I felt that the other six issues were more than enough. The 7th issue was that the right display occasionally becomes slightly darker or lighter when switching from light to dark and vice versa. In the end, six out of seven problems remained completely unchanged, and one was mitigated. To get "another" one with all those exact issues, that's like winning the jackpot twice in a row with the exact same numbers. I don't think I'm that lucky. And please don't get me wrong, if the repair is done well, I have no problem with it. Unfortunately, the last repair (I think it was one) was more than inadequate, and then there's always this endless process of troubleshooting, documenting, reporting problems, waiting for responses, repackaging, and then waiting again to see if it will be better this time. Like everyone else here, I have to work hard for my money, and I know that mistakes are made or things don't always work like they should. No problem, I can and must live with that. However, I expect a repair to work, especially when the delivery includes a note signed by two people stating that the headset has allegedly passed all tests. I can say with absolute certainty that either what is written on the note is not true, or the tests are not good enough. I notice that I'm getting upset again, so let's stop. If I had the choice, I would prefer to receive a new optical unit and keep the old headset and optical unit. After the arrival of the new optical unit, I would test the new optical unit and send the old one back. That way, I would be sure that I would not end up with "another" unit that had been completely failed to repair. And if PIMAX has problems to deliver the normal 50 PPD optical units, I would even go with a wide FOV 50 PPD unit if this would fasten up the delivery and shorten my waiting. Unfortunately, it currently looks like I won't have a fully functional headset in my hands until the end of September, almost 11 months after I placed my order. That's tough. Nevertheless, thank you for your attention and with best regards2 points

In fact, what you’re seeing is not an ED weapon modeling issue. As I understand the AGM-45 wasn’t originally built to track radar sidelobes (the later HARM does). So this behavior, while inconvenient, is accurate. In the field, this situation is why the guy in back earned their pay; they could do EW magic and know which signal was a quality one to use for weapons employment and advise the “bus driver” up front when to shoot and when not to. Since Jester never went to EW WSO school & we just have the ALR-46, solving this problem means mission planning where the site is in advance, noting where the radar’s pointing and attacking the site from that direction. Just like the real world nutcases Weasels.2 points

I’ve been checking the Tacview wiki and found that the root cause of performance issues in DCS seems to be how active objects are enumerated and passed via Lua. Tacview exporter is now fully multithreaded C++, using less than 1% CPU on the main thread, with all the heavy stuff (telemetry fusion, data cleanup, compression, network telemetry) handled in the background. The real bottleneck? The LoGetWorldObjects() function (it’s the only option available), can’t be split across frames, and gets super inefficient with lots of objects. The way to fix it would be a new API from DCS that’s more selective, progressive, and efficient for enumerating objects. This could minimize load and spread it over multiple frames, boosting performance for everyone using Tacview (and potentially other exporters) Any chance you could look into implementing something like this? It’d be a huge win for the community! Thanks!2 points

This isn't a solution. If you want to support, buy the module you don't have and that's it. A subscription model won't work here, and thankfully, ED is far from it. It would also have to cover all upcoming models for a fraction of the price, which wouldn't be entirely viable with the system we have now: basically, a third-party devs for two or three years for free, and then potentially a large profit upon release.2 points

Nice summary. This particular point had great significance far beyond the decision-making processes and political sensitivities of the time: This meant a far-reaching implication practically only made possible by the decision to go with the F-104: it enabled the West German aviation industry to return to world standards, since the F-104G could be built under license. FJS was planning to build a German defense industry so as to no longer be dependent on foreign deliveries in the long term. Until then, a lot of armaments had to be procured from abroad. For the Mirage III, which had been the favoured option for FJS for some time, the French (more precisely de Gaulle) had a clear opinion on licenses or nuclear weapons options. From a longer-term perspective, as cynical as it may sound in view of the many pilots who died in accidents, it almost didn't matter how good or bad the Starfighter was. In the long run, it was a win for the german aerospace industry far beyond the operational period of the "Witwenmacher". It paved the way for Airbus, Tornado and Eurofighter.2 points

Hopefully ED considers making your mod an official feature so it can be integrated into the core game. Your weather effects are some of the best I’ve seen they really add to immersion and realism.2 points

I just fail to see how a $15 asset pack would split or fragment anything. We all have to pay for our toys. And if "the community" don't want to be split, fragmented, rent asunder, folded, bent, or discombobulated, they'll simply have to cough up the 15 dollar-e-doos like the rest of us. Also, and I'll end it here, I've had this discussion before. The end result was I posted that I had two free WWII assets packs to give away. And another guy had one to offer after my two were taken. Three free WWII asset packs total were offered. The exact amount of people who asked for the free WWII assets packs after a few days was... none at all. That was the cherry on the cake of my views of "the split community". That said, I wish you a good day and happy flying.2 points
