  1. Hey, certainly not. I'm constantly tinkering with the settings. But I don't use F-4 specific settings anyway. I have a profile for fixed wing and one for helicopters, that's all. I not using the F-4 much lately, so from the top of my head I can't tell you my special option settings.
  2. Between 45 and 230. Depending on Settings and Scene..... Seriously, the question, phrased that way, can't get a sraight answer. You can easily reach 120 fps for the most part, which is all you'll ever need in a flight sim. In those occasions, where you don't reach 120 fps, no amount of GPU would probably help, because the limiting factor is something else. Like CPU or game engine.
  3. Cool, thank you!
  4. Having Keybinds to adjust Gamma would actually be a frickin' great relieve. The gamma issue is one of those annoyances I came to accept as just given (since simulating the iris would probably be too much to ask - and honestly I never thought about that). But having proper Keybind options (digital and analog axis please), is the second best thing. @BIGNEWY @NineLine Could you guys please forward this? I imaginge adding keybind options for something that already is adjustable on the fly (by virtue of opening the ESC-menue) is a doable thing (priorities are another topic of course, I'm aware). TY
  5. That would be only the base clock. The CPU will automatically boost up to around 5ish GHz based on its temp headroom and load. If you disabled the boost completely (which I doubt because you would kind of know what you’re doing), that would be a weird move. There is no need for you to overclock unless you have fun doing so for the sake of it. Overclocking (and double so water cooling) is an (expensive) hobby on its own. Not worth it if your only goal is increased performance for DCS. You would barely notice a difference in fps.
  6. Roger! I thought it might be the same underlaying issue. I'll shut up now!
  7. A little side note on that (sorry if it was brought up already). Especially with Mirrors on, the delay between head movement (TrackIR) and the movement in the mirrors, is very off-putting. I would rather have the animation skip a beat than have the delayes reaction in the mirror. THAT is immersion breaking. I never has this particular issue in any other mirrors in DCS. Is it correlated? Probably I assume.
  8. Well, I do not agree with OP that the Hornet is any harder to learn than any other Aircraft in DCS or that there is a lack of resources to do so...... However, one have to admit that generally most of the (good) resources to get into DCS come from 3rd parties, like Chuck's Guides, several Youtube Channels and individual content creators. Same goes for actual game content, like missions (sp and mp), Kneeboards, etc. ED provides little more than the basic tools (actual modules and ME) and somewhat decent manuals (maybe a bit inconsistent - I'll give that to OP). Fully embracing the "Sandbox"-concept. Personally I would love to see ED step up their game a bit content-wise. But the short-coming for me is less about Aircrafts and learning about them, but the empty scenery. I would love to have some templates to fill the Maps with "Life". But that's merely a personal wishlist item.
  9. Time to get into a new hobby (CAD and 3D-printing) and do it on your own. The basic principle isn't very hard and can be "borrowed" from existing conversions like the MFG Crosswinds.
  10. That's my alltime favorite "DCS"-Video and deserves an Oscar (imho) - but I don't think it is suited to show off DCS due to its heavy post processing and editing.
  11. Heatblur Release Trailers (Phantom) Apache Trailers (Thunderstruck) Mighty Wings Trailer ....
  12. @chichowalker A followup question to the drag index, is it just a rule of thumb like wing stores occupied is 20, (only) fuselage stores occupied is 10? Or is there a more detailed way to calculate it (apart of course of knowing the values for each store/payload)?
  13. Would be awesome to fly full sized Aircraft in the DCS environment! E.g. as tankers. I don’t know though if that would be commercially viable. I hope the C-130 will do well when it releases.
  15. Hm, as I said, hard to tell without witnessing it. Seem to me that you struggle a bit with the geometry of the fight (or the feel for it). Can’t really tell how to improve that except practice and watch videos (e.g. from Growling Sidewinder)…… Maybe for practice, try to find the maximum sustained turn rate (meaning pulling as hard as possible without loosing (much) speed. Just on your own, without an adversary.
  16. Yes, but even with the Spitfire, when you turn too tight, too soon, you will bleed energy like crazy and can still loose the fight. You can outturn everything, yes, but still need a proper technique doing it.
  17. Here’s another picture that may help. Imagine a big circle on the ground, you and your adversary are 90 degree apart. What you wanna do is move along the circumference faster then him. But what you don’t want to do is, cut the circle and point directly at him (unless you are 100% sure you can make a snapshot). That will bleed your energy fast, make you slow and ultimately loose the fight.
  18. Hard to tell without a video, but I assume that you are not patient enough and try too hard to pull them into your crosshair. (and bleed a lot of energy in the process) Try to trail turn with them (meaning keeping them on your 12 above the canopy bow, aka flying a bigger circle with them) and wait until you are behind them. (You want to shoot them from behind and not from atop). Be patient. The other point, well yes once an enemy is behind you, you’re basically fucked. That’s the whole point of it. You might try to jink (you should!) and try to make them overshoot, but that’s close to impossible with a warbird. (if you have a way more powerful aircraft, you could try to outclimb the enemy but that makes you easy to shoot at……so) The Strategy for winning is, see them first, be higher and faster. Have the moment of surprise on your sight.
  19. Oh, very interesting! I assume that works similarly on other maps? Probably slight performance boost from it too, no?
  21. I tend to disagree. Germany is one of the greenest countries with a forest area of 30% overall. Counter intuitive urban settlements (cities) have a larger percentage of forest (because the vast overall majority of land is fields for agriculture). E.g. of all Cities >100k Wuppertal takes the 25th (out of 79) place with a green part (mostly forrest) of 77% (source wikipedia). I would guestimate that on average at least 50% of all settlement areas are covered in green (forests).
  22. I don’t know actually, that was just an assumption. But I think this is how it works, yes.
