  1. To clarify something. Lots of the time I was misinterpreted so read carefully what I'm writing and take it just as some calculations based on facts not as I'm pushing to some of this VR device. Just take my guessing as part of the information to take it into consideration before you make a decision what to buy. Nothing else. everything I was predicting with Pimax5K+ was shown in the end as for right information same as my concern about price. I personally will not purchase Pimax5K+ and period. Simply it is not worth that money for what you got and this product is just transition to second generation VR and don't have future. Pimax8KX, maybe if they manage to make it at all. I'm not buying it or recommended but in the end, it is your choice, not my. Let's finish here with Pimax. RIP About Rift S as I say and we should get first specs on GDC19 so as they say will be a cheaper version of Rift with a slightly better picture but without IPD adjustment what growing rumors about one single display with the split picture. Cosmos is interesting and that 2160x2160 is questionable. No one so far ddidn't see this displays in practical use. You have in mind they depend highly on good optics because of this display have much smaller diagonal size then for example in WMR's 1440x1440. So if WMR optics have magnification 3x to spread this 1440 to 110° this 2160x2160, due to its size, will need minimum 6x magnification what increase the possible distortion of the picture. That means the lens should be much better quality and that is also increasing price. It is not impossible but is it economically justified for mass production as a consumer product? If Cosmos will be with that display for an affordable price will be awsome. Just to get you to picture what that means I will compare it with WMR and Pimax5k+ PPD. WMR PPD is around 14 so same for O+ or Vive PRO. Pimax5K+ PPD is around 18 Cosmos PPD will be around 21 Pimax8KX PPD will be around 28 Perfect targeted PPD for VR is 30 and up. This is just to get a picture where we are right now and what we could expect in the near future. More about Cosmos we should know in Q3 this year so we will see.
  2. I can't believe how people more believe to brand and marketing than to the technical specifications. With Rift S everything is clear as daylight. It will have its advantages and disadvantages over the CV1. Will have a single display with split picture resolution 1280x1440 per eye and around 600 PPI what is better than CV1 but not compared to the WMR or Vive PRO. This experience will be similar to Samsung Gear VR with Galaxy S6, visually. Negative from CV1 is the fact that will have IPD software adjustment. Pimax5K+ have so far best visual experience without comparing FOV, just picture clarity. This coming because of two major reasons. First is full RGB 4:4:4 display cheap LCD. Best clarity but bad color recognition and pail colors without real black and contrast. Such display is great for clarity on close distance especially text reading but in distance, the object could easily melt with background and not to be spotted. OLED fixing this detail but losing clarity. Other advantages of Pimax5K+ coming from smaller lens magnification who is connected to the PPD. Pimax just has best PPD so far and that is another half of the "secret" why Pimax has the best clear picture. No doubthPimax5K+ is the best VR on market right now but a question is is it worth it that high price? Pimax5K+ build in parts and its quality in production cost and tech specification could compare equal as Lenovo Explorer but for just 1 Pimax5K+ you can buy 3 Lenovo Explorers. Another problem with Pimax5K and 8K is they are not finished products and there is still a lot of time to fix a lot of issues shown in practical use. Wide FOV VR is not ready yet for hardware we got right now. It is struggling to run even on hi-end hardware. So before Pimax8KX and better hardware for it, this will wait for me. Rift S will be a replacement for CV1 Rift. I guess. The fact that is hard to order new Rift, only true Facebook store, telling us that CV1 is probably is not producing anymore and Quest and Rift S should replace it. Quest is 400$ and S should be cheeper. Production cost ower Rift CV1 will be lower so we could expect it around 300$ as normal price in about 6 months. Improved inside out tracking and competitive picture quality to the WMR will be good for entering in VR world and as a transition until Pimax8KX or some other Wide FOV HMD mature to be ready for massive usage.
  3. So the new Navi (something betwean 1080 and 1080ti) for just 270$ right GPU for you.
  4. What about Fixed Foveated rendering? This should save a few FPS as well.
  5. Picture speaks more than thousand words.
  6. For DCS and without controllers just one Vive base station will work for the 6DoF head movement. So try to buy one on eBay or buy a single one, I think it is 100$ on HTC store.
  7. Could be true but it is natural when you look in some direction even in real life you stayed focused on some details. This effect maybe not affecting much in usage and this input lag will compensate naturally just like do with persons with bad vision. If you don't wear glasses you focus a little bit more and longer so this natural reflex will eliminate that input lag.
  8. All backers will receive their Pimax 5/8K till Christmas. That is what Pimax promise. To be honest I don't doubt in Pimax because they didn't precise which year Christmas will be. They say also have to finish deliveries to backers and besides partners before start shipping preorders. Fact is more than 50% backers still didn't get their tracking numbers at all. So ...
  9. As I said not necessary to buy AMD but will effect on Nvidia prices same as RTX2060. Maybe used 1080ti is the best option for that money in near future.
  10. I guess some third party mod or DIY mod parts will be soon out on the market. Something similar to this mod for Vive audio strap. You will need to be glued some velcro on a side to attach sides and made some 3D printed clip to attach stripe on top. Get some ideas from this video. Also, there will be possible just to relife weight from the forehead by attaching simple velcro from the side of HMD to strap in the middle near to headphones. The strap will connect this two points and distribute weight more evenly around the head. Such simple and cheap modification with just glued velcro on existing parts without opening HMD should not lose warranty.
  11. With every Graphic Card, I have this adapter was included. So I don't see where is the problem at all? Check your GPU box for it.
  12. Wait a little bit more. Now on CES in January AMD will present Navi 10. This should be in Performance range 1080ti or higher for just 250 - 300$. I'm not telling you to buy AMD over Nvidia but this will definitely have an impact on prices even Nvidia cards. I'm not disappointed with AMD performances because they always work in a range they say and are significantly cheaper. Wait to see benchmarks and final price and then decide AMD or Nvidia used or new. Also be careful with possible CPU bottleneck. Think about it as well. In the end this 100$ you can invest in new CPU as well what in combination could lead to the best boost for you individually.
  13. I can't believe no one made any video with hands yet.
  14. Happy New Year! First of all think about it twice before you spend 900$. Why 900$? Because one glove cost 250$ plus 190$ for Vive sensor for positional tracking and double that for both hands. Positional tracking works only with Vive lighthouse compatible VR. Check for VRFree Gloves from Sensoryx They are full price for 400$ pair and have implemented positional tracking.
  15. Everything that is nice and beautiful but we want some true lense video about those details you mention about.
  16. We have to wait to see what is Vulcan bringing on this field.
  17. No one knows how long. Minimum 4 months. Point is they promise Backers will be delivered before Christmas but today 3000 of 5000 backers didn't get their HMD. Only after coming those who preeorder it but in reality this could be minimum 4 months before you get your order.
  18. Yes true, but I'm talking about diferentproduct you can buy for 320$ pair of gloves with positional tracking. With new DCS VR controllers implementation should work same as touch only it is gloves.
  19. Totally agree. Now you understand me why I was always taking Swevivers reviews with a grain of salt. All respect to his work but he can't do it with that level of details very important to dedicated DCS user. Great review Rage now only some video is missing.
  20. Probably it is still in developing and need to be publicly tested first before fine tuning, Anyway, this is a huge step forward, thanks ED. This is a great Christmass gift from ED. Thank you ED and Merry Christmass to you too.
  21. This could be all changed with the upcoming Vulcan upgrade. Finally, benefit from multicore CPU and multi GPU.
