One thing that I recommend new pilots to the A10C "II" - if they are not transitioning from the A10C "I" - use the A10C "I" tutorials (in game). Most of the tutorials do not have changes for what the "II" will require, very minor ones to be fair. This way, you can go through the in depth "interactive" TGP, TAD and other system tutorials - where steps are highlighted and taken step by step. Once you master that, the "II" has very little change / adaptation. Cheers, Ziptie

Transitioning from the A10C "I" to the A10C "II" is really quite easy. There are a handful of changes to the HOTAS commands, but half of those are not yet implemented. There are 3 new weapons to learn, all of the very straight forward. If you are capable of operating the A10C "I" to a high level, the "II" is an incredibly easy transition. Cheers, Ziptie

It's under the professional (classified) version of the software, not the DCS stable / open beta civilian software. Cheers, Ziptie

AGM-64D Firing & MAV Display in MFCD
Ziptie replied to Captain Orso's topic in DCS: A-10C II Tank Killer
You would simply CHAS with Maverick SOI so you don't have to fumble with anything. It is true, that worrying about aircraft 'balance' it the last of the concern when rolling in on an attack run. That being said, with a realistic loadout of only a single maverick on station 3 and a single maverick on station 9 - there really isn't anything to 'worry' about. Two quick rifles and you're off hot - but even at that, on a column, you've either sent your maverick(s) off at the true threat to you (surface to air threat) at a range of 5+ nm. Then roll in on the column with some fun employment of GAU-8 and rockets. Despite what many say, you can destroy more than light armor with the APKS - you just have to send more than one rocket at it. Seems that 4 does the trick quite nicely for me, with a rear aspect shot to get 'em in the soft spots. A10C coloring book. Cheers, Ziptie -
I'm up for assisting you in learning your way in and around the A10C and her systems @Beruit . If you'd like the assistance. Have assisted many in learning, from basic to in depth, happy to do it again. I'll PM you an invite to our Discord server - if you choose to come on in or not, totally up to you. There are a handful of other Hog drivers in there that would be able to assist you as well. We often do a training day, where a training mission is used and we go to school. Cheers, Ziptie

To make the 'Ready Pre Contact' call, you don't have to be 'up in the tanker' - just in reasonably close formation with it. You do have to be in more of a trail formation, rather than an echelon formation though. Personally, I have COMM 1 and COMM 2 pull knobs bound to the MIC switch on my Thrustmaster Warthog - point there is, after making initial call to tanker for rejoin - once you get close, all I have to do is actuate COMM 1 knob and press F1 once to call ready pre contact. I use VR so I am blindfolded to my environment and it's not that tough, maybe you could try that and see if it helps you too. Cheers, Ziptie

Same here. I must have been reading about a Harpoon that is different than the one in DCS.....? :book: Cheers, Ziptie

[NEED TRACK REPLAY]Strange Steering Cue on Moving Target
Ziptie replied to ebud81's topic in Bugs and Problems
No worries, glad to try and assist. Hope it is sorted for you with those steps, the next time you fly sir. Cheers, Ziptie -
Copy that, will just adapt and assign some different systems to the MFDs. Thanks Snoopy! Cheers, Ziptie

XSAF - Training and Check rides not necessary
Ziptie replied to PravusJSB's topic in Squadron Recruiting
We are continuing with the mission tomorrow, should be starting around 1000 Pacific time. If anybody has been on the fence, it would be a great time to join - get in and fly with several experienced pilots in the mission - who knows, it might be the last server you end up looking for :pilotfly: Current requirements: Syria map. Knowledge of the airframe you are intending to fly. Available tasking: Rotary wing, fixed wing. CAS, CAP, building of defenses and resources at BLUEFOR controlled airfields. GCI role also available if you prefer (if you are wanting to be GCI, you need to have experience in this area of expertise please - but we can teach you). We currently have a nice mix of tasking for pilots who are already signed up for ops - CAS, CAP, helo - so we've got room for you in whatever role you'd prefer. Come on in, the water is fine - guarantee you've not flown in a server like this before!! Cheers, Ziptie -
[REPORTED] Elevator flutter in transonic regime
Ziptie replied to speedbird5's topic in Bugs and Problems
Possibly related to this thread, which has been labeled as reported? https://forums.eagle.ru/forum/englis...e2#post7121589 Sounds mighty similar. Also, this is a year old thread - that has been rehashed by someone... The above is an actual new post. Cheers, Ziptie -
Is this why I can never seem to get the second frequency to work on the F16? Have never been able to contact anything (tanker, tower, other flights) on comm 2 - only on comm 1. Cheers, Ziptie

Do you have VR zoom bound to anything? What about VR spy zoom? These are both a "must" in my opinion and I use them all the time. I do this, to try and keep from leaning forward - and now that I've started using my racing harness (have a combined race sim / flight sim setup) - my upper and lower body movement is much more limited, while still being able to rotate my head with normal movement. I use VR zoom often for getting a clearer view of the MFD/DDI/AMPCD displays (across the A10C, F18C, F16C) and sometimes use the VR spy zoom when scanning a target area (ground or air). I have 20/13 corrected vision, so yes - we are all at a disadvantage over what we would be when seated in the real aircraft and attempting to interpret the displays. Such is the life when playing a game and being much more limited in scale - compared to real life. Cheers, Ziptie

Refueling at night without NVG - any lights to help?
Ziptie replied to CommandT's topic in DCS: F/A-18C
When you have the external lights switched on, there is a light on the refueling probe that illuminates the basket. Cheers, Ziptie -
Is the former command for coolie switch aft going to be performed by a different command (like coolie switch aft long) or is it going to be removed from functionality completely? Cheers, Ziptie

Issue with AGM-154A not opening on high terrain
Ziptie replied to xXMustangXx's topic in DCS: F/A-18C
There have been several people reporting issues with the A variant of the AGM154, some with mixed results like you are reporting - others with constant - some with none. I feel that you might be on to something with your MSL observation - maybe the 154A's VT height function is using MSL rather than AGL....? When I last used them, they worked as intended - but that was several months ago. Hoping to get some flight time in tomorrow and do some testing for a few different things - this will be added to the list if so. Cheers, Ziptie -

Once you've fired the maverick - you should not continue descent. You should instead, at minimum go level horizon or even initiate a climb to maintain a safe altitude from SAM and AAA threat(s). You should do this while ensuring that you do not enter a masking situation with the TGP. Best practice is to put roll into the aircraft where you can maintain separation from the target area while being able to continue with a valid lase. I try to fire in the 6-8nm range, pull the nose back to level horizon, typically command left roll of the aircraft, and establish the start of a race track until the missile impacts the target. You can use BALT after level horizon to help you decrease your "work load" to get comfortable with it, but typically in a combat AO you really want to have full control of you aircraft. I typically only employ laser mavericks when a buddy lase is present, for those very reasons. Cheers, Ziptie

Fuel selector switch out of position when mapped
Ziptie replied to Raisuli's topic in Controller Questions and Bugs
Makes sense and understandable! I have just bound the fuel indicator selector to a multi position rotary switch on my wheel, thanks for the idea and you are correct - it works on the first selection now. Thank you Cheers, Ziptie -
IR seeker head in the maverick (and IR mode in TGP) seeing a telephone pole or a bush as the same thermal intensity as a tank is definitely a problem sir. Cheers, Ziptie

Fuel selector switch out of position when mapped
Ziptie replied to Raisuli's topic in Controller Questions and Bugs
Currently it requires me to cycle the fuel indicator selector all the way left or right before it properly lines up. Is this not the case for you as well? Cheers, Ziptie -
[CAN NOT REPRODUCE]Manual - Creating a New Waypoint
Ziptie replied to Captain Orso's topic in Bugs and Problems
Are you saying there is a bug/error in the manual, or are you having an issue entering coordinates into the CDU? Cheers, Ziptie -
Yeah, I prefer the F variant as well. Only use the E variant if I've got a buddy lase. Personal opinion of course. I also hope that they sort the FLIR out sooner rather than later (across all aircraft that use TGP). Cheers, Ziptie

Very very strange. As you've stated in seems to only be an issue for the Hornet, and not for other airframes that you own (assuming you own more than just the Hornet) - I'd recommend backing up your key binds for the Hornet and uninstalling the Hornet module - then reinstalling it. Seems like something has been correlated incorrectly during an update or something.... In terms of the 'feels like a button limitation' - could certainly see how it seems that way, but certainly isn't anything like that on my side. From the A10C I/II, to the Hornet, even to the Viper (very low flight hours in the Viper as of now) - there are hundreds of different combinations across the modules and they all function as intended. Especially in the A10C. Cheers, Ziptie
