  1. Yeah , i used VROptician on both my CV1 and RiftS , and would recommend no other .
  2. So I was forced , kicking and screaming , into getting a G2 as DevilZuck is about to brick my RiftS . Would have preferred to wait for one of the micro-OLED-pancake-lensed options coming next year , but there ya go . Thanks Zuck Having said that , I find the G2 to be much less of a hassle to setup and tweak than I was led to believe on this forum . I changed one setting in WMR (more about which later) and turned on motion smoothing in Steam VR-and that's it ! All other settings changes were in the DCS menu to maximise eye candy , and ended up being quite high (Ultra clouds and view distance , default shadows , high water and textures , maxed sliders etc) with apparently some headroom left for further experimentation (effects and maybe pd>1.0) . In testing (very) low over Batumi , I'm running butter-smooth rolling and pulling the Hornet and panning my view looking out the sides with a stock-clocked cpu and incidentally , quite low cpu and gpu temps and frametimes in the 11-13 ms range . Me so happy ! I think what made all this possible are two things . (1)The Rift i ran on the same system required 1.4 pd and 2x MSAA to mitigate aliasing , while the Reverb looks better than the Rift ever did using 1.0 and NO MSAA or SS . (2) I set the 'verb to run at 60 hz in the WMR settings menu . I guess I am one of those fortunates who doesn't see the occasionally-reported flicker , and running at "native" hz makes for a maximally smooth experience , while the lower hz results in a lot more eye-candy ! Did i mention the controllers ? Horrible clunky cheap-feeling things compared to the Oculus ones I'm accustomed to , but i only use one for Steam VR settings so no biggie . And a bit of weirdness . For some reason , i can't go past 50% in Steam VR even at DCS' lowest settings without compromising performance-even 60% causes massive stutters . But I can run 2x MSSA smoothly with only slightly compromised eye-candy settings and full performance . I sure am looking forward to getting my VR Optician lenses , as right now I'm leaving the lens protectors on to avoid scratching with my glasses . Many thanks to Speed and Thud for all their work in helping us understand the G2 .
  3. Yeah , this is one to watch out for , even if you don't wear glasses .
  4. Yes , you can use a mouse (or better , a trackball) . Aliasing-my personal VR bugbear ! It is reduced with greater resolution , but I was surprised to see that even in a thru-the-lens video of the Varjo Aero , i could still see some DCS has a world-scale setting mysteriously described as "ipd" in the VR settings . Default works for me .
  5. Yes Latest beta Running VR , and DCS is currently unplayable with same settings i previously used . Ran fine before .
  6. It seems several headset companies are moving to micro-oled very high resolution displays for their next release (Sony and likely Valve , to name two) , and a couple are already available (Varjo , Arpara) . I'm considering waiting , even if i have to be VR-less in the interim due to my headset being bricked come Jan 1st .
  7. Yep , i too went from a staggering camel to a broken straw-back with the latest patch .
  8. 2.7 is unplayable for me between the aliasing , cloud flickering much worse than before and significant loss of performance . Been in VR for 3 yrs now , and getting very discouraged with DCS . Think I'll download that other Russian sim and use it until multicore and Vulkan arrives for DCS .
  9. Think i'm gonna have to take a break form these forums for a while . The toxicity , obliviousness , breathless cluelessness , posturing and outright stupidity are starting to wear on me .
  10. I respectfully suggest that you revisit your own arguments , applying the same criteria , as well as the trendline of to whom you are responding .
  11. Irrespective of your positions or arguments , your obvious jihad against SharpXB is seriously damaging your credibility .
  12. I would start here . Prolly the best , most researched and most comprehensive guide for setting up the Reverb , regardless of hardware .
  13. Would be particularly nice in the Mariannas , so when low on fuel i could squint and ask myself "is that an island , or a cloud shadow" ? "Sweating it" is immersive
  14. Was thinking the same thing when i read that post . "Dead foot , dead engine" won't work with reversed controls , rather it would be "dead foot , dead pilot" ! And i generally don't steer a bicycle with my feet , so i don't get the premise . Wants to fly aircraft in a sim , wants reversed controls...Oh well , i read something weird here every day , but it's no skin off my nose how he sets up his aircraft .
  15. Amen . Can't tell you how many times i've seen questions that were answered in the previous 1 or 2 posts .
  16. Clearly , with the moving goalposts , this was an ill-thought-out suggestion in the first place . I much prefer the ED professional's carefully mapped development to the "winging it" i'm reading here...
  17. This is my biggest problem with vr in DCS as well . I have never flown pancake since , but the shimmering , sparkling and flickering are often impossible to overlook , even at 4x MSAA and pd 1.4 . Combine those with the very close level of detail settings , and i can (almost) understand why people go back to a monitor . I know nothing of rendering pipelines in vr , or of graphics implementations generally , but i feel that merely throwing hardware at the problem has proven to be largely ineffective , despite the huge (at least for me) expense .
  18. Yep , into the Blitz by then .
  19. Good post , particularly the first part addressing the OP's concern . I personally don't think the Sly870 would gain much , if anything , going from a 2080S to a 3070 or 3070ti , beyond , perhaps , the ti's additional memory in some circumstances .
  20. Previously discussed ad infinitum . And like all such posts , completely oblivious . Then there is this :
  21. Thanks for that ! Your post will allow me to finally solve the "Window out of focus" issue . Don't know why i never thought of using VA...
  22. Because no one has one . As you said , the software is unsupported . Are you aware that DCS World is a free download , with two free maps and two free aircraft ? If your computer is incapable of running DCS , or if you simply prefer to run FC2 , you can try emailing support@eagle.ru I have no idea if they can help or not , but it is worth a try .
