  1. dear ED, i have reported the cause for the issue in october 2020, that was over 8 months ago. this module needs some maintanence.
  2. This NEEDS to be resolved. i propose ED tries to play on the Hoggit server or any other highly populated server. Sometimes youll be getting 60+ second continous lock warnings already while starting up on ground from planes 100 nm away. And no, its not because the radar beam randomly crosses you.
  3. same behaviour was (is?) with entering LHAQ - that is holding, releasing, and then it switches (instead of holding, switching, then releasing). and that was accepted by ED as a bug some time ago. would be rather weird if hornet's hotas utilized two different long-press mechanics, particularly when one is all-around inferior and annoying. i hope the mistake is on ED's side and not mcdonnell dougles' engineers.
  4. some people say you should be able to designate L&S on SA page, which would also solve your problem not in DCS right now
  5. very exciting plans
  6. this can be fixed by giving them Orbit task. its a task, not enroute task, which means the flightplan will not continue until this task is finished (and orbit is never finished unless you explicitely interrupt it). they will then orbit and if they detect a target, the enroute task takes over. once enroute task condition is no longer valid (no targets visible etc.), they return back to task (orbit). basically just add an orbit task where you want them to be. alternatively, you can create some waypoints and then use Switch waypoint command to an earlier waypoint - this way they will fly a loop over the waypoints. just like with orbit, enroute task (CAP) will take over temporarily if targets are detected. Yes, all AI units in a coalition work as a hivemind. Not only would they see what AWACS sees but they also see what ground radars see.
  7. ive seen this happen and it wasnt on the ground. jumping out of AA and back to AA fixed it. i dont know what caused it and how to replicate it.
  8. i confirm this its actually in all the voiceovers for this profile, not just tracking. and it can be heard in cockpit too if youre on the ground.
  9. wingmen dont work in general for ag tasks. its a widespread problem in dcs. a-10c wingman is really broken too, refusing to attack players spi after "roger". at this point, wingmen are merely cosmetic fluff and decoys for sams. so use them for that.
  10. Disable the HITS option in top row.
  11. >youre all wrong but im not gonna say how thats epic, man.
  12. if i see it again i will
  13. the default ai actions are so called enroute tasks. these are valid only until new one is executed or end of flight plan. if you dont give them flight plan, they switch to rtb mode during which they are passive and barely defend themselves or not at all. maybe the modern planes see you from the beginning on radar/rwr and begin to engage you before this happens. you need to post .trk files or at least the .miz files which you used for this. in my experience f-14 and mig-31 are the two most aggresive ai planes in the game, probably thanks to their missile range.
  14. yes, lack of engine fire is shameful. id really like to have to use the fire extinguishing system sometimes.
  15. ive had this in hornet in syria, spawned in air iirc. rounds landing much higher than the pipper (yes it was in range and with agr). no idea how to replicate it.
  16. you sure its gone? the amd configuration screen says this option has impact only on directx9 programs, which dcs is not. i tried it myself regardless and the black spots are still present for me.
  17. Does this mean ATFLIR auto track should generate its own MSI trackfile? Would it be then selectable on ATTK RDR page? I wondered how to slave radar to ATFLIR target, seems its not possible in DCS currently. This doesnt happen in DCS either.
  18. You forgot to mention that on Hornet you used half-empty double-racks for 2 AMRAAMS and then 2 another AMRAAMs you put on separate pylons. This increases drag for absolutely no reason, you can put 4 AMRAAMS on those two double-racks for roughly the same drag as those half empty double-racks alone. Nobody would fly a loadout like that, it makes no sense. This makes your result a bit flawed. Here is my results. Both planes at 100% internal fuel, with 4x AMRAAM + 2x Sidewinder + full gun load. Same starting altitude (depending on test) and speed (roughly 0.5M). Time and range measured until engine shutdown. Mil power ======= at 5k: Hornet: 31 min 41 sec for 310 nm Viper: 32 min 25 sec for 336 nm at 15k: Hornet: 37 min 50 sec for 369 nm Viper: 38 min 51 sec for 398 nm at 30k: Hornet: 58 min 33 sec for 545 nm Viper: 70 min 40 sec for 684 nm Afterburner ======== at 5k: Hornet: 9 min 59 sec Viper: 4 min 45 sec at 15k: Hornet: 11 min 53 sec Viper: 5 min 46 sec at 30k: Hornet: 15 min 45 sec Viper: 8 min 41 sec Conclusion: In mil power, both planes have roughly the same endurance and range except at 30k and higher where Viper has +25% advantage over Hornet. In afterburner however, Viper has only half the endurance of Hornet. Which perhaps explains why I so often run out of fuel in Viper in dogfights but rarely in Hornet. Edit: Good point. That would make it more difficult to test, hm...
  19. hi, not sure if really a bug report but maybe its worth mentioning while looking at the famous UFO videos https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cdJLaqNEFMM i have noticed that they have laser codes displayed while clearly in AA mastermode, with the associated UFC option as well. some of them display range after acquiring point/auto track, maybe laser can be used for ranging in AA too? in dcs the whole laser data block is hidden when in aa mastermode.
  20. Full internal fuel hornet will beat full internal fuel viper in endurance, by far. Like, you cant really fly viper without external fuel tanks, except maybe close range airfield defense
  21. i see this too. it affects all ACM modes and RWS as well, altough less often.
  22. hi i recreated it here lef_bug2.trk the difference between LEFs is some 8 degrees and the plane is rolling on its own. btw, is it correct that the AOA box always shows -99.9 no matter what? whats the purpose of that?
