  1. Vulkan is "a low-overhead, cross-platform 3D graphics and computing API" (API = a set of functions and procedures allowing the creation of applications that access the features or data of an operating system, application, or other service), not an engine rewrite.
  2. You might want to make sure that no other app is running in Windows whose window sits on top of DCS. The out of focus warning is just to alert you to that fact. I had, for example, Steam VR sitting on top of DCS and I dragged it to the side, and all is well.
  3. Totally agree!
  4. I got mine from VR Optician as well. Quality made in Germany: https://vroptician.com/prescription-lens-inserts/hp-reverb/
  5. Laeuft bei mir auch sehr gut (System in der Sig).
  6. So, with all this said, why not just *wait* until ED is done with those still missing features instead of creating threads like these over, and over, and over again?
  7. I have no issue with performance in VR (specs in my sig) with the recent DCS updates in single missions thus far. I am not flying online, so I am not sure if that's where the issue lies with most folks reporting fps loss. As far as those overlays are concerned, Main and Static, they were introduced in the update, and I assume they will disappear again with the next update. :)
  8. That's how I understand it as well - but the info provided by ED's Kate is valuable here even moreso, as the forum here is the official DCS community - and not some third party website that happens to have a flightsim related subforum.
  9. @Eldur: 66.5 IPD (or World Scale) in DCS? You must be sitting in a miniature cockpit in-game then. Seems as if 66.5 is your actual interpupillary distance (IPD) I assume? Please do not confuse the mislabeled IPD in DCS with your interpupillary distance. :) In DCS (where IPD should be considered "world scale" or better yet - "cockpit scale"), try to match your hands to those of the 3D pilot, or match the size of the throttle or stick to that of your HOTAS by adjusting those values. Much better in the end.
  10. This - very much so. With NTTR, I had really hoped that we would be able to emulate "Red Flag" type scenarios - including the use of training weapons so we can score hits while still flying and continue practicing.
  11. Ah, so SimShaker is what driving this, not the DCS module itself. I never realized that SimShaker included such voice file. I am indeed running SimShaker for my Jetseat 908. :) Thanks for the link to the silent wav file. :)
  12. That's not the point - the point is to have them yell in English where appropriate.
  13. I still would like to see this voiced in English for the Huey (and maybe close-captioned for the Mi-8 ). :)
  14. Also, don't forget that there was a (failed) kickstarter attempt to get the DCS F-35 off the ground. Nobody remembers that? :)
  15. Silent? They already edited the thread title; what else is needed?
  16. The "strange letters" are the correct airport identifiers. OMDW = Al Maktoum International Airport OMAM = Al Dhafra Air Base etc... And, only the Russian voice overs correctly seem to mention the PG airport names; here's hope that with the ATC overhaul down the line this will improve...
  17. Yes, that's something like a new service message I assume which goes away until after everything is loaded correctly and DCS is ready to go in VR.
  18. That's the limitation of the real life TV camera - there's no FLIR in our version of the Ka-50. As a side note, it would have been a great opportunity for ED to make Blackshark 3 model the Ka-50N "Night Shark" or Ka-50Sh (even though "Neither of the Ka-50 night-attack versions has entered full production").
  19. Yes, as stated in ED's newsletter: "Improved Environment Lighting We have worked hard to increase the range and visibility of lights to enhance the night flying experience. We know that it is far from perfect and will continue to improve the look and feel at night."
  20. Then you have the same problem as before, with a noisy community decrying the lack of information brought forward by ED.
  21. @amazingme: In the book series "The German Aces Speak" it was mentioned by one of the pilots (forgot who said it) that a lot of German pilots liked to trim their planes so that they always had to use forward pressure to fly level, which would mean that during dogfights, it was easier for them to enter into turning fights.
  22. Is that your first VR set? Just curious...
  23. Thanks to the updated geometry the Shkval display appears larger, with larger fonts/symbols as well, which is esp useful in VR. Thanks ED! Falling in love again with the Ka-50 (and I cannot wait for Blackshark 3).
