  1. So when moving the PD slider to 0.5 in DCS everything is rendered pixelated, not only DCS but also WMR layer and Steam VR. Is that behavior normal?
  2. Hello everybody, We are close to DCS world 2.7 and the introduction of the new clouds. Apart from looking gorgeous I read somewhere they will be sync in MP and more important, they should block ir/optic weapons line of sight. So I was wondering, which short range SAMs should be affected and unable to engage through clouds? Tunguskas? HQ7? Also what about ir missiles like the R27et? 4. Any chance of an EA in 2021? I'm eager to fly it in VR. Enviado desde mi ELE-L29 mediante Tapatalk
  5. I think you need to type them manually as of now. Although quite easy as they are shown in the TGP, so no need to take a pencil and a notebook.
  6. Never experienced this behavior myself (not saying this is not a rare bug for someone). I was playing for several hours last week with the hornet. So far I can see and have always being able to see everything as intended. Things that might get to do with this based on my experience with the hornet, just in case it is helpful for someone: People not working the elevation properly, a good tip is to assess the top and lower numbers in the TDC when the TDC is at the expected target distance (otherwise you might think your target is inside the radar cone when actually it is not, just because your tdc is at 80nm while the target is at 10 nm for example. Remember that as the TDC is further away the altitude your radar covers increases due to the cone shape. Always have a look at the Radar PRF setting, by default is interleaved MED/High, sometimes, and this is a bug, the PRF changes by itself to Medium. If that happens, you stop seeing closing targets when you should.

  8. Hello, I would like to request ED, while a major rework is carried out to improve Air Defences system AI logic, some little scripting that would make things more realistic and fun, some from the top of my mind, please complement (they should be easy to code): For SAM without anti missile cappability (eg. SA2, SA3...) when a Harm launch is detected, it would be nice to turn off the radar in order to negate a direct hit. The logic could be when a launch is detected close enough to see the smoke plume of the harm, its not necessary they do that 100% of the time. For SAMs with antimissile cappabilities or all SAM when reloading and not able to defend, the behavior should always be to turn off the radar to negate a HARM or ARM kill. I think this one is quite simple. Why should a unit that is not able to launch expose himself to an ARM but leaving the radar on the whole time. Those are the 2 i think would be lovely to simulate "Supression" of ADS without kill.
  9. Well, the short answer would be yes, and I hope that at some point in future they will revisit all ecm implementations. But it's also worth mentioning that ECM implementation in A2A combat is somewhat neligible. Right now it only helps denying very long lofted Fox3, since if i`m not wrong HoJ shots will follow a direct path instead of lofting. Basically inside 25 nm ish you should always turn your ecm off despite which aircraft you are flying, or you will have a decoy asking for a silent missile (i'm looking at you Aim7)
  10. Is this even possible?
  11. Good question, I'm curious to know how it is implemented in DCS.
  12. Because is of paramount importance to pin and detect bugs. Its not a good tool for replays and analysis of what happened though, as people expect it to be. For that its better to use Tacview.
  13. All this updates are very much appreciated. I will buy Razbam modules in the futures given the support they are showing, even if some things still needs tuning after some years.
  14. Its weird. For me SA15 have always shot down Maverick and Harms since always. The only thing they will not shot down is Harms shot very close, just outside of the range where it start shooting at you. I don't why but I guess this is because from that distance the Harm engine is still burning and the missile comes in very very fast giving very short notice.
  15. This is correct. The A2G radar is/should not able to generate coordinates precise enough to hit a small vehicle or object with a JDAM. Probably you could hit a warehouse or big factory though.

  17. Not tried but i can think of a different way. 1-Detect the target and track it throught GMT 2-Bring up FLIR 3-Designate and create a markpoint 4-Now you can silence the radar and use the markpoint to slave the flir to it, it should be easy to find the target from the markpoint.
  18. Basically jammers needs first to analyze the type of signals of possible threats in order to apply the correct jamming technique and customized to the most dangerous signal. In Receive mode the jammer is in standby but working so that in the moment it goes to XMIT, jamming on the approapiate detected threats begin inmediately.
  19. But I think the principle should be the same. As far as I know jamming your own radar its actually a real problem but not in all cases, mainly when what you are jamming operates in the same frequency of your own radar. So for example it might be a thing jamming your own radar when defending from another aircraft with a radar in the same radar Band, but maybe not true when jamming a SAM site that operates 2 bands below, since your radar can filter all the noise comming in a frequency slightly different from the one he is emitting on.
  20. Thanks for sharing, haven't have much time to test it myself. Some question from the top of my head. Does anything to break the lock of an incoming FOX 3? Ot does it seems like it helps at all combining it with Chaff? I'm curious about your comment of working just in the front hemisphere. In the case of the F18C for sure its not the radar that is jamming, that is only a thing in AESA equiped aircrafts, not on our lot 20 hornet.
  21. Not in all cases but mostly yes. First clarify that how any SPJ works is in most cases is clasiffied info. Also there are SPJ that not only start working when you lock them but also before by different techniques trying to conceal where the aircraft really is. But for many less sophisticated and less powerfull SPJ in fighters they will start the jamming process when they are tracked by an enemy radar (A2G or A2A under a specific radar frequencies including missiles). I feel that current implementation is a bit more "realistic than the old one" in that regard, although still very simplistic.
  22. The hornet its the first plane that introduces this somehow "closer to reality" behavior of SPJ in fighter aricrafts. The natural flow would be that incrementally new high details modules will embrace this functionality introduced in the hornet. The rest of Jammers in DCS are just a simplified brute force noise jammer emitting continuously, while in reality normally SPJ in fighters; except for dedicated sead platforms, does not use noise jammers but deceptive jammers using different techniques to break hard locks. Regarding your second question, soft lock are not broken because the receiving aircraft has no way to know it has been "soft locked". A soft lock is normally the generation of a synthetic track by correlating several raw radar hits the FCR thinks belongs to very same aircrafts. But it is just a digital processing on the emitter side, other than that the behavior of the radar is the same as during a normal search cycle.
  23. Well, actually is not that intuitive unless you are an old acquaintance here. The common logic would tell you to check the big first entry named "Official updates", but its not there but inside DCS World 2.5. It would be nice to have it in both (the Patch Status thead I mean), aren't symbolic links or hyperlinks a thing in this forum, so both are actually the same entry but posted in 2 places?
  24. You should try, it's not as easy as you might think given aim54 range. You will soon discover all the shortcomings of the f14 given the time frame difference. And you will understand that is actually difficult to fight with it against good pilots in PvP. Enviado desde mi ELE-L29 mediante Tapatalk
