Water is too dark and horrible
falcon_120 replied to Fabiano-VIKING's topic in Weather System Bugs & Problems
Exclusive VR user here, Its not that i don't like the new water as I see some improvements but there are a few things that are off right now, i will do my best to explain what i see: Water reflect the clouds too much, or better said it seems that clouds and the sky is reflecting on the water at times where they don't normally do (like when late in the afternoon where you should only see the sun). On top of that, the reflection is not "more or les static" but instead is changing hues and colors a bit; I mean when you see the sky not changing lighting conditions, like the if the sky reflected on water is taken from a Disney movie. Definetely needs tuning... Something is off regarding clarity or height perception, don't know what it is but since 2.7, I had 2 crashes on water i haven't had for ages in 2.5.6 because i couldn't discern how close i was to the water until it was to late... Maybe it has to do with how small waves are now, but even low level fliying is quite difficult for me on water. The height perception improves looking 90 degrees left or right but not if i'm looking straight ahead at the HUD. I really don't know what it is.... -
There is work to be done on quality, but much improved! The jittering was a deal breaker

VR-latest patch- No jittering anymore
falcon_120 replied to TOMCATZ's topic in Weather System Bugs & Problems
For me the jitter is totally gone. The sharpness and contrast can be improved a bit further but so far massive job, we just need some iteration over this great enhacement. Thx ED!!! -
Any improvement on today's patch? Its not in the change logs but you never know...

While true, still many bugs are open from the new realesed items. I guess everything will be iron out in the next 1 or 2 patches and after the viper will start to be more and more polished with each update.

no Now we have the ATFLIR, will the Litening pod be removed?
falcon_120 replied to Mr_sukebe's topic in DCS: F/A-18C
I hope all the work done and carried out to bring the litening to its current state is not thrown out the window, its a great pod used by hornets (USMC and spanish hornets) so really handy to simulate certain scenarios where uber realism is not required. -
In VR with the reverb G2 is pretty insane, sometimes is really disturbing guys, seing the whole cloud layer jumping up and down. Only happen with some cloud presets...

It's planned but no time-line yet Enviado desde mi ELE-L29 mediante Tapatalk

It can detect a tanker or an awacs at that distance, not a small fighter. Though 50 nm should be easy on a hot target, 40nm seems low. Enviado desde mi ELE-L29 mediante Tapatalk

I can say I have witnessed all the points except CTD. (Reverb G2) Enviado desde mi ELE-L29 mediante Tapatalk

I can't think of a reason of why the current implementation in VR is a VR limitation itself. To the contrary we heard reports from some testers who did test it in VR, and the feedback was very positive. I find hard that could be the case with the jumping clouds we have now, which induce montion sickness and an overall awful experience. I really have confidence in ED that we'll get a fix for the jumping clouds in the incoming days via a new patch (hopefully also the overall look in VR).

I like the litening more, additionally is the pod used by my country's hornets, so nope, dont think i will stop using it.

Thanks Danny_p, just tried that but its the same experience. Apart from the severe jumping for low clouds, specially noticeable when looking at the horizon, the clouds just look very pixelated (with jaddering and like saw teeth in the borders), specially when looking at the horizon. It really needs some more work in VR as all the videos i'm seeing on youtube that are much much better and does not suffer this effect. Btw i have almost everything on low including ground texture, as some say this might play a role, I guess i will play with this settings a bit more, but with a reverb G2 and a 1080ti i can bear pushing the settings up too much for a playable MP experience.
-
It might only me, but I see the clouds like pixelated, like if they were rendered ar 640x480 or something XD. Could it be a MSAA tyhing (mine is at 2x), also my PD is 0.5 and I bump up the steamVR supersampling cause in DCS2.5 made the same visual experience but better frames. But maybe this is hurting the cloud look.

Glad to hear is a known issue; I came here to open a similar thread, and fearing this was something very specific to my settings/PC/Vr headset. Hoepfully they will find a solution soon, is quite disturbing as of now and inmersion breaker.

I can wait to discover for sure, but just out of curiosity, how big will this patch be? (High level figure)

Is the F-16C the worst dogfighter of its era in DCS right now?
falcon_120 replied to Youda's topic in Chit-Chat
To make up for it, ED gave him an F15 radar and the possibility to run on the deck at M1.4 easily, so you are king in BVR and can run from any problem. On a more serious note, we should wait a bit more after the F18 is out of EA and more resources can be shifted to the Viper. -
Should ED offer printed manuals (for a price)?
falcon_120 replied to The_Chugster's topic in DCS Core Wish List
Yes... when the product is mature enough after 5/6 years and no major changes are expected. -
Sorry if already asked. Is it compatible with IC check. I'm mostly a MP guy these days so before i give it a go I'm curious if anyone has already checked it. Thanks!

Well, if you mean is in a better position than in a HOTAS concept, then no, it's not awkward. Enviado desde mi ELE-L29 mediante Tapatalk

Even if you get NVG, you'd be restricted to rockets and guns as no IR pod exist in the hind to guide the antitank weapons right? (i'm actually asking )
