The SPS-141 version used by the MiG-21 (which AFAIK is different from the SPS-141 we have now for the Su-25) has ASO-21 chaff/flare dispensers.

We have both the SPS-141-100 pod (centerline pod) and ASO-2 (bolt on, rear fuselage) dispensers.

Good news! I have a related question, since there are a lot of different munitions and loadouts that many of us aren't familiar with, will there be some short information about them in the manual or in the DCS encyclopaedia maybe?

Wait, the MiG-21 has ZERO countermeasures built in?!

Common (and expected) for an aircraft of that period unless a retro fit was done as part of a modernization program (and the MiG-21 has fairly limited internal space to work with).

Not a fan of the MiG-23 but I'll probably buy it to support Leatherneck. I'm hoping for the MLD version which should be somewhat competitive against the Flaming Cliffs 3 fighters. I believe they can mount R-77's, but that was for testing and enough data might not be available.

ML/MF versions were more widely used so i think those variants would be a better choice

If there is one thing I'm not looking forward to in the MiG-21 and 23, and it pretty much is the only thing I'm not looking forward to, it's those cockpit designs. The set up just looks like a messy flustercuck, lots of plumbing is visible, the turquoise is hideous, the visibilty is meh, just icky all around. Western cockpits are just so much nicer to look at. Though I do prefer using the metric system which is a bonus for these birds.

I want to fly MiG-21 so much that I made my own MiG-21 in Kerbal Space Program with jet assisted take off and semi-guided rockets

I forget which update this was stated in, but yes:

The next release will be 1.3.0.

1.2.9 is being skipped because the addition of EDGE warrants increasing the version number from 1.2 to 1.3.

Appears so, but at least with a bolt-on we'll still have them without being required to carry a centerline pod.

While I'd love to have one that could carry R-77s, I agree that most likely we'd receive an ML/MF, probably a 100 times easier to find the data compared to MLD.

I can get used to the lay out, but I will admit I've never really liked the color I've seen on these either. Ricardo's cockpit for the Blackshark has been the only cockpit of that color I've actually liked. I get that the Russians had their reasons for it, but just never really cared for it.

Though I do prefer using the metric system which is a bonus for these birds.

SPO-10 Sirena, fairly limited device, as expected. It's well described in the manual. :)

Do you have the information on which MiG-21bis operators used the ASO-2I dispensers and from when?

I thought that the Soviet Union used it on the 21s only for the Afghanistan deployment..

Dunno about the standalone ASO-2Is, but I know of at least one incident where a Polish MiG-21R fired chaff from ASO-2I installed in a recon pod after being intercepted over the Baltic by a NATO or Swedish fighter.

Any hints on MiG-21? People here becoming anxious you know... :)

If the release is near, then at least I would know if it is socially acceptable to sit here pressing F5 on my keyboard waiting for the MiG-21 icon to appear on the top of the page.

But If the plane is probably being tested/incorporated by ED guys as we speak, then neither Cobra nor other LS members can do much about it now, or give estimated release dates for that matter. I'd say these are questions to Wags rather then Cobra.

Asking about flight manual release, for example, seems to make more sense - reading it carefully before even touching the flight stick is always a good idea :D, plus, the plan was to release it before the plane itself. So, how's the manual going?
