jcbak Posted January 29, 2015 Posted January 29, 2015 I recently contacted ED Support inquiring about the new minimum requirements. This is the response I received: Greetings, obviously the same like for DCS. It would be better to have modern Video Card with 3-4 GB of memory And 8-16 GB system RAM. Witchking Posted January 29, 2015 Posted January 29, 2015 I think that will require going back into cockpits and actually editing those materials/shaders/objects. I don't know if ED will bother updating older modules that extensively. Might be something in the newer modules. Although..I agree that lighting is a key key thing for 2.0. I really hope they get the lighting right. Even the small navigation lights at the wingtips of aircraft. Especially for the ugly ones on FC3 aircraft. Mike Busutil Posted January 29, 2015 Posted January 29, 2015 (edited) I would like to see those parking spots at Nellis get a little more dirty in EDGE like the real Nellis. Or any other base that holds parked military aircraft. OnlyforDCS Posted January 29, 2015 Posted January 29, 2015 For MINIMUM requirements? Name an example, please. I think he was refering to the first part of the statement. As I understood the reply from ED, the minimum requirements are not changing from what we have now. Current specs: Windows 10 Home 64bit, i5-9600K @ 3.7 Ghz, 32GB DDR4 RAM, 1TB Samsung EVO 860 M.2 SSD, GAINWARD RTX2060 6GB, Oculus Rift S, MS FFB2 Sidewinder + Warthog Throttle Quadrant, Saitek Pro rudder pedals.

Translation "we want new nice shinny things to run smoothly on a 10 year old PC". ;) I read "same as now" for minimum but we recommend higher. ED Team NineLine Posted January 29, 2015 ED Team Posted January 29, 2015 (edited) When are steam users getting dcs 2.0. Eagle dynamics are taking way too long Is it a full moon tonight? 2.0 is an update to your current DCS World, I would imagine it will follow a similar release schedule as any other update. Of course how Alpha will be handled with STeam, or if it will be is unknown... Edited January 30, 2015 by NineLine Forum Rules • My YouTube • My Discord - NineLine#0440• **How to Report a Bug**
ED Team NineLine Posted January 31, 2015 ED Team Posted January 31, 2015 (edited) Info added to the first post by Wags: The map is approximately 600 x 610 km. The airfield locations have the greatest detail (elevation mesh and textures of 2 meters per pixel), the center area of the map between the airfields (as indicted by the area covered by roads in the attached image) has the second highest detail (4-8 meters per pixel), and the area along the outside portions of the map have the least detail (16 to 64 meters per pixel). As an example of what this means, the focus area around NTTR is where you will find the best quality, but things like parts of LA or the Grand Canyon will be lo-res as they are not the focus of this map, but included due to the size. Excuse this very dense question but what is a pixel in this context? For example, in the highest resolution areas, does it mean you can have a different elevation and texture for every 2 square meters? Kind of like the tiles on a kitchen floor?

Imho you mixed two different things together - 1) elevation mesh will will have the greatest details and 2) texture resolution will be one pixel for each 2 sq.m. kontiuka Posted January 31, 2015 Posted January 31, 2015 Area Density, Each px of a Texture = So Many Meters^2So, in the map building tool, whatever is used, the designer clicks somewhere, makes a dot (pixel), and that dot represents 2 square meters? So, pixel means a literal screen pixel?

So, pixel means a literal screen pixel? Nevada is going to use aerial imagery as textures. The resolution of such images (either from plane or satellite) is always "unit of lenght per pixel". ■ L-39C/ZA Czech cockpit mod ■ My DCS skins ■
