Guys, I just installed the open beta and I'm now seeing a different campaign for the a10 when launching the normal release. Also both open with the same version u.u

DCS 2.0 compatibility questions

 

Does anyone know yet if dcs 2.0 will be backwards compatible with modules like helios, dcsbios, etc? Im just trying to control my excitment because with a custom pit if i need to rebuild most of that it will take me a while to be able to use 2.0 when it drops.

I read Matt's comment on this video

 

and he stated that the weather effects will be part of 1.5. The first post of this thread states that "1.5 will be exact same thing as 2.0 but without the ability of new maps"

 

I wonder what other features will not be included in 1.5.

Acknowledging that "everything is subject to change," just from memory & personal interest, the items that I noted which may not make the first cut of 1.5 include:

 

Revised ATC

Dedicated server

Multiplayer cockpits/ aircraft

Forrest areas that you can collide with (compared to individual trees which you can collide with).

 

I'm sure Matt has mentioned more, or there were others features he wasn't sure about when he discussed them at the time, but I'll guess we'll see what makes it at release date.

 

And most importantly ...... "Everything is subject to change." ;)

Its not so much that some features wont be included, its more along the lines that the features wont be ready for the first drop of 1.5, I am sure we will see a number of versions of 1.5, its possible missing features will be added as they go... minus the new maps of course which will wait till 2.0.

Unofficially less than two weeks until 1.5 BETA. :thumbup:

 

I am happy in every way with how things are being rolled out. I am glad ED decided on a 1.5 BETA release and looking forward to digging into documented and undocumented features. Just hope that everyone knows what to expect from a Beta.

September is 30 days long so more like, less than, up to 6 weeks......

Unless I have missed a more specific release date?

I've just reinstalled Windows and decided to wait for 1.5 for a clean new DCSW install. If it isn't coming, I need to know so I can get the current version in instead.

 

I'll probs put BS2 v1.1.1.1 on in the meantime.

You can install the Retail version now.

1.5 will be out as open beta install 1.5 for a long time, and it doesn't affect the retail version.

Hm, wonder how they could make a carrier work as DLC in multiplayer.

 

Carrier will be visible only for those who bought DCL, or second option, carrier will have force field and when u get close enough then BOOM. :)

Good day. I have a question about mission planning in both SP and MP game. Because there is a lot of missions without correctly set preloaded waypoints, munitions and/or frequencies e.t.c... Like in mig-15 you can set 3 preloaded frequencies but only in the mission editor. I would like to have this ability - set them before take off or before entering the aircraft like it is possible in the BMS Falcon (preset cartrige for every mission before mission start.) I think this is a very good idea and hope you will support my idea. Thank you a lot for your answer and hope this is not OT. Have a nice day!

I'd like to see it implemented like the weapons loadout menu. It can only be done on the ground/friendly base. Gives the player the ability to adjust frequencies in-game.

My belief is that Wags is referring to greater player control over the carrier. The question Wags answered was dealing with "advanced aircraft carrier operations." Wags may simply have went a different path with that verbiage.

 

It was mentioned a while back about improved carrier operations for the F/A-18C. That will most likely be implemented as a DCS W update.
