Is that a new MiG-29 model at the beginning of the video that Wags posted?

 

pylons and lower parts of the intakes are too angular, so unfortunately that looks the old cmd model :cry: but hard to be sure about that: model is too far/non-detailed on the HD1080 video too

I´m there with you :cry:

If you are right, I guess this answers a bigger question: If EDGE is going to replace all obsolete/old models with newer, shinier ones.

 

Best not get hung up with speculating too much at this point.

All map objects, such as buildings and other assets should be new with that map I believe.

 

Ok, map objects, buildings and such. I was unclear, not specifying more - vehicles and planes such as the C-17, S-3 etc. pp is what I meant.

From what we´ve seen there´s a ton of new map objects and buildings. Very nice...

Vehicles, and such that are not included in the map wouldn't be updated with a new map. I am sure eventually though, most everything will be updated, but that is my opinion.

I think he asked about all 3D models, including aircraft. That's why you should put a big bold 'EDGE has nothing to do with updating game assets (models, textures, sounds etc.). This will happen independently and progressively in the future as it is done currently.'

I keep visiting the thread and this issue pops up far too often for such a simple matter.

My biggest hope is that DCS 2.0 makes planes easier to spot. Works fine when the HUD puts a box around the target but for WWII fighters, its too difficult to spot the enemy.

F-16s in NTTR preview images dont.look like the F-16 statics we have now..

the current engine is already able to visualize all the old models with shine

this depends on the the materials and its settings (and in-sim shaders afaik)

(and depends of HungaroJET)

you know these images were made a year ago but he said - when i able to catch him on facebook chat rarely - already updated old models (f-4, mig-25, f-14, tu-95 etc.) and the old f-16 looks like brand new with the new glass/chrome/aluminium edge-materials and with normal and specular maps (~ similar to shines of BMS f-16)

i will ask him to post some screenshot, however i have no idea when he is going to release his huge mod/update/addon-pack (maybe for/after edge release)

It feels like a very long time ago. I know it´s not a very useful comment ;)

I didn´t mean any actual shine on the models surface, more like in more detailed, realistic or polished. Poor choice of words perhaps...

On the detail of Nevada, I wonder if plans have changed. Homurz came out of no where as a surprise and not only will it be one of the first EDGE maps, it was designed with F/A-18C in mind. Then ED revealed that Nevada which was originally going to be a smaller size, would in fact be huge.

 

Homurz may actually be the "pretty map" of the two, however it being younger means it's harder to show off.

I doubt it, the focus of the map is NTTR, I dont think modeling the destruction of the Hoover Dam is a task needed to that.

 

Not needed...but a fantastic addition. Would be an amazing mission scenario. seriously...protect the hoover dam from being destroyed..lol...

But... question...with the new terrain...can trains be manually added and managed? would be nice to do some missions with trains as targets/protect etc..
