ED Team NineLine Posted January 18, 2015 ED Team Share Posted January 18, 2015 Not needed...but a fantastic addition. Would be an amazing mission scenario. seriously...protect the hoover dam from being destroyed..lol... ;) But... question...with the new terrain...can trains be manually added and managed? would be nice to do some missions with trains as targets/protect etc.. I dont think anything has been stated about trains and civ traffic yet. kontiuka
I doubt it, the focus of the map is NTTR, I dont think modeling the destruction of the Hoover Dam is a task needed to that.Anxious to see the water modelling (lakes / rivers). I like the sea and coastline water we have now (although a little calm) but would like to see improvement in the lakes and rivers. Rivers right now just look like glass and defy gravity. Lakes look like small versions of the sea making them sometimes look unnatural.

Roadrunner
mig29 model hi, dont know how to name this topic... anyway, wags posted the video below, and i was wondering, if it is the same model we have or a new one, i can just not identify it, maybe someone else can. to be seen next to the mig-15 at the start of the vid. rcjonessnp175
Well to be honest I hope that all aircraft get an update on their model. Seeing as edge is a much more advanced graphical engine. I have a feeling the pits and aircrafts themselves will show their age compared to the new pretty environments. I7 4770k @ 4.6, sli 980 evga oc edition, ssdx2, Sony 55 inch edid hack nvidia 3dvision. At the very start you have a Mig-29 and a Mig-21 in the background. Once Wags is in the pit for start up there is a Mig-15 to the left. Which specific one were you referencing? I think at a point, the water was being modified by some of awesome modders here who managed to get some nice waves. but since, the water shaders were changed again. I think we really need some proper water in 2.0 with new maps. So that ships actually bob up and down and realistically move through water. Will be paramount for DCS: F/A-18C IMO. Carrier ops is not always in smooth glass like waters. Not to mention, I agree..the water used to look amazing back in the LO:MAC days, but not anymore. Need some next generation upgrades to it too. ;) WHISPR | Intel I7 5930K | Nvidia GTX980 4GB GDDR5 | 16GB DDR4 | Intel 730 series 512GB SSD | Thrustmaster WARTHOG | CH Pro Pedals | TrackIR4 pro | |A-10C|BS2 |CA|P-51 MUSTANG|UH-1H HUEY|MI-8 MTV2 |FC3|F5E|M2000C|AJS-37|FW190|BF 109K|Mig21|A-10:SSC,EWC|L-39|NEVADA|
Weta43
So that ships actually bob up and down and realistically move through water ^^ Ships already bob up and down & roll/pitch when travelling in heavy winds - only the sea itself doesn't look very wild ... xxJohnxx
I still remember the waves being much more realistic in windy situations a long while back in some version of the standalone. Wondering if that is just my imagination or the water was really better then. Currently the water is quit unimpressive in this regard. The improved water effects were removed due to performance reasons, if I remember correctly. Chances are we will see them again in DCS 2.0. rrohde
Question on EDGE: Will EDGE still feature textured water beneath 100% of each new map, with the land texture layered on top (as it is now), or will EDGE feature land and water textures separately, with water only where it belongs? Rotorhead
check the Froogle video..... UH-1H on NTTR and DCS: World 2 OK, guys, go ahead now and call me a noob if you wish, but I've never heard of this Froogle guy before... However, he's got his hands on an exclusive DCSW 2 video, before any press did, even with a little interwiev with Wags himself. I find it rather cool, and I believe that ED showing their recent work publicly is a really good sign. Actually, I excepted that video to realy pump up the hype over here, and so far, nothing happened... ..but id certainly did for me, hehe! :) Anyways, few things I noticed: > The terrain, the buildings, everything looks superb, even the runway textures with cracks and all. Can't wait to take any of my choppers for a low-level ride. > The HDR effects look so much realistic now. It's really dangerous and demanding to fly into the sun, as you can barely see anything. Also, the lens flare effect (that used to bug me so much in the previous video :P) seems to be gone from cockpit. I like. > Those power wires seem still too easy to spot for my taste, especially against sky background. But still light years better than those infamous ones we have now. > Matt flies like crazy. :D Overall, I'm really happy about what I see. Only thing I'm not sure about is the alpha release they talk about. Sure, there always are beta releases, but they are usually almost identical to the following stable release (unless some critical bug surfaces of course). But now, they say they are going to release feature-incomplete alpha? I was always thinking that EDGE is taking so much time exactly because ED don't want to release incomplete product. I'm really hoping they're not going to push an incomplete product just because they feel that the release is long overdue and they don't want more negative publicity for another delay. Which is by the way true, but releasing something incomplete doesn't make it justice either. But what do I know, it might be just semantics. ED keep working on DCS and adding modules and features to it all the time, so it can be hardly called feature-complete at any point.
ED Team NineLine Posted January 21, 2015 ED Team Share Posted January 21, 2015 but I've never heard of this Froogle guy before... He is big in the civilian flight sim world, good to see them coming over for some combat fun, and its more exposure to that market. But what do I know, it might be just semantics. ED keep working on DCS and adding modules and features to it all the time, so it can be hardly called feature-complete at any point. They have a list of features that they plan to release with, it would be Alpha/Beta till those features are complete. That doesn't mean they cant add features later on.
