cichlidfan Posted January 26, 2015 Posted January 26, 2015 Not without knowing what level of EFM we are talking about. ASUS ROG Maximus VIII Hero, i7-6700K, Noctua NH-D14 Cooler, Crucial 32GB DDR4 2133, Samsung 950 Pro NVMe 256GB, Samsung EVO 250GB & 500GB SSD, 2TB Caviar Black, Zotac GTX 1080 AMP! Extreme 8GB, Corsair HX1000i, Phillips BDM4065UC 40" 4k monitor, VX2258 TouchScreen, TIR 5 w/ProClip, TM Warthog, VKB Gladiator Pro, Saitek X56, et. al., MFG Crosswind Pedals #1199, VolairSim Pit, Rift CV1
Aginor Posted January 26, 2015 Posted January 26, 2015 I wouldn't even care about the FM as long as the clickable cockpit and system modeling is ok. The F-104 is one of the planes I would buy even with a SFM (I would hope for a quality AFM though). Actually I am pretty surprised nobody has released an F-104 yet. Maybe the old license issues.... :( DCSW weapons cheat sheet speed cheat sheet

Agg Posted January 26, 2015 Posted January 26, 2015 What kind of a question is that? Of course I would, assuming of course that it is at the same level as the other DCS modules.

Vedexent Posted January 26, 2015 Posted January 26, 2015 The Starfighter has always been on my "want to fly" list. It would pretty much need to be PFM, if it's going to be supersonic, however. It's my understanding that the aerodynamic models didn't handle supersonic flight until the F-15 and S-27 PFMs.
WinterH Posted January 26, 2015 Posted January 26, 2015 It would be an interesting aircraft to have certainly. I dread the idea of landing it though :p Wishlist: F-4E Block 53 +, MiG-27K, Su-17M3 or M4, AH-1F or W circa 80s or early 90s, J35 Draken, Kfir C7, Mirage III/V DCS-Dismounts Script

I dread the idea of landing it though :p Aye and also those of us awaiting the EE Lightning, that is also going to be fun to get back on the ground Sons of Dogs, Come Eat Flesh Clan Cameron
Cibit Posted January 27, 2015 Posted January 27, 2015 What is EFM? External Flight Model (EFM). Used by our partner developers, the EFM uses only a part of PFM - rigid body physics and contact model. What forces and moments are applied to this rigid body from aerodynamics and any other sources except the contact forces is up to EFM developer. From this post here http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=122801 This vote is for the Starfighter. I don't think I would have one over other favorite planes like the Thud but if it was produced I would buy it i5 8600k@5.2Ghz, Asus Prime A Z370, 32Gb DDR4 3000, GTX1080 SC, Oculus Rift CV1, Modded TM Warthog Modded X52 Collective, Jetseat, W10 Pro 64 [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] Adding JTAC Guide //My Vid's//229th AHB
WildBillKelsoe Posted January 27, 2015 Posted January 27, 2015 not another outdated, outclassed bird... we have F-86 and that is as good. Lets try and get the F/A-18C / E into DCS, then we can worry about old birds/choppers... AWAITING ED NEW DAMAGE MODEL IMPLEMENTATION FOR WW2 BIRDS Fat T is above, thin T is below. Long T is faster, Short T is slower. Open triangle is AWACS, closed triangle is your own sensors. Double dash is friendly, Single dash is enemy. Circle is friendly. Strobe is jammer. Strobe to dash is under 35 km. HDD is 7 times range key. Radar to 160 km, IRST to 10 km. Stay low, but never slow.
wavn Posted January 27, 2015 Posted January 27, 2015 Certainly YES and my neighbour too, because he once flew the real one :) Best regards, Willem

SDsc0rch Posted January 27, 2015 Posted January 27, 2015 there are soooo many kickass jets out there.. question is, who will take the time to build them all?? just think.. if they can make it so 3rd party devs can just "plug and chug" values in to fields and out pops an EFM, that would be great (like what they do in "survey sims"/WarThunder) but i have a feeling that's "not the way this works - that's not how any of this works" i7-4790K | Asus Sabertooth Z97 MkI | 16Gb DDR3 | EVGA GTX 980 | TM Warthog | MFG Crosswind | Panasonic TC-58AX800U [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
Zakatak Posted January 27, 2015 Posted January 27, 2015 I'd probably buy one of the later S variants used by Italy, which have AIM-7/AIM-9L capability.
Mainstay Posted January 27, 2015 Posted January 27, 2015 Nope... Way more other cooler birds out there like the A6, F4, F8, A4 etc that are way more interesting then the F104
Abburo Posted January 27, 2015 Posted January 27, 2015 I have no special interest nor any special attraction to this. However if it will be at Mig21 standard I would think twice! Romanian Community for DCS World HW Specs: AMD 7900X, 64GB RAM, RTX 4090, HOTAS Virpil, MFG, CLS-E, custom
King_Hrothgar Posted January 27, 2015 Posted January 27, 2015 I do enjoy my manned missiles. I'd gladly pick up an F-104 to go along with the MiG-21. That said, it isn't very high on my wishlist. It is definitely on it, but there are a lot of other things I'd prefer if given a choice.
fltsimbuff Posted January 27, 2015 Posted January 27, 2015 I, for one, would love to see an AIM-104 Missile-with-a-man-in-it. To me it represents a time when they were heavily experimenting with the best way to get good supersonic performance. A lot of the designs of that time looked very different from one another and had very unique handling characteristics. This reminds me a lot of a paper airplane competition...
Cali Posted January 28, 2015 Posted January 28, 2015 I wouldn't buy it, don't like it. i7-4820k @ 3.7, Windows 7 64-bit, 16GB 1866mhz EVGA GTX 970 2GB, 256GB SSD, 500GB WD, TM Warthog, TM Cougar MFD's, Saitek Combat Pedals, TrackIR 5, G15 keyboard, 55" 4K LED
The_Pharoah Posted January 28, 2015 Posted January 28, 2015 I'd much prefer the F-105. Saw a heck of a lot more action I understand, drops a heck of a lot of bombs, and actually shot down Migs in North Vietnam (24.5 vs 0 for the F-104)! :) plus the 'G' variant could actually do SEAD missions. Demongornot Posted January 28, 2015 Posted January 28, 2015 If i would have enough money to invest on DCS module right now i'll probably want to fly this beauty ! Honestly if i had have enough money i would probably buy every aircraft and even if it will took time, learn to fly them all, but like everyone point out, this manned missile will be nice/fun to have ! streakeagle Posted January 28, 2015 Posted January 28, 2015 If the flight model was done well, it would be my favorite next to the MiG-21bis until an F-4 or F-5E were released. [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
