I'm happy waiting for the product to arrive with added features, and the vast majority of the bugs removed.

The first thing that will happen on release is the flight sim press will be all over it like a rash. What they say then will be the impression given to a community already jaded by events like IL2 CLODs difficult birth. Wouldn't you feel better if your baby was lauded by the whole community rather than ripped apart for bugs that could be resolved simply by delaying the release until it is right?

From what I can see, ED are making sure they respond to our requests, and naturally, a lot of that needs to be added at the ground floor. It isn't as simple as just adding a bit here, and a bit there, and it is naive to imagine otherwise.

Juts bear in mind a few facts...

It's free.

It's a major overhaul of the current graphics system.

It's nearly here, and it'll be far more polished for that extra few weeks of development.

Is that so bad?

+1

Interesting title. I wonder wether aliens are gonna take over Area 51 or perhaps we get some Indianan Jones Crystal Skull type of scenario. Or maybe both.

And it's quite fun too! :D:joystick:

Please no more oil on to the fire! We all know you have access to the Alpha and I for one am already green with envy, it does not help with the wait... :D

Could someone from ED or forum Admins clarify, is the reason for the delay missing features, or game blocking bugs? From the newsletter it appears that it's both, but that is completely different from the last newsletter and related information on 2.0. where it was stated that the Alpha would have a lot of missing features.

Yes I know "Everything is Subject to Change", so if that's the answer then I guess I will have to accept it...

Looking for a co-pilot now :music_whistling:

I hate waiting but no-one I know would describe me as patient. Good luck to testers and developers and may you find speedy resolutions to the problems you encounter:)

Hello,

It's very good to work to complete DSC 2 and especially keep them informed gents.

I will not spend 2 to DCS if I have to pay the NTTR map and I think that's a big mistake to force gents NTTR to buy when they already have and that other modules are available, I feel let me count because I did not buy A10c beta and others are surrement in the same case.

Anyway good luck

I doubt it BUT I bet someone will make a mission where you have to scare off or pick/arrest trespassers into Area 51 restricted space in patrol Huey :)

Seriously - if you're going to complain unhelpfully, you could at least read the post well enough to make your complaints relevant to the OP.

DCS CURRENTLY has multiple executables (ME/MP/SIM), the intention is to "move to use of a single executable"

Notice that MPGUI would fall in that list too...

I assure you, that I'm well aware that DCS1.2 has multiple executables, I had experienced crash into debriefing screen quite some times. I also know what the intention is. Fact that DCS2.0 is still multiple executables, indicates that it is bodged on top of DCS1.2 (or flanker) with same old bugs. Maybe ED should focus on FM development and leave programming and project management to somebody half competent.

Fact that DCS2.0 is still multiple executables

Where did you get this 'fact' from?

Both, there are blocking issues and some features they want to have set before release. Ultimately they need to be happy with what they are putting out before they put it out, doesnt mean it will be perfect, but they want to have it at a certain level before they put it out there, this is a milestone release for ED, they are taking it very serious.

You dont know what you are talking about with 2.0.

Some of the biggest remaining items that we need to address before an open alpha include:

...

Completing the move to use of a single executable.

...

Again, you dont know what you are talking about with 2.0, so dont make statements like you do.

If I am completing the move to my home, I could be just unpacking all the boxes there, it doesnt mean I havent moved into my new home yet.

It would be very, very desirable by the WW2 community if an implementation of both versions for the Spits could be found. This may pertain to other upcoming Spit variants (VEAOs' Mk XIV), and other WW2 birds that have minimal differences between them.

I think there's good reason why the newletter's screenshot of the Spit looks like clipped. I'd make a bet: 9 of 10 Spitfire fans who look at the picture complement it (mentally) with a round wingtip ─ after all, that that's how the "classic" silhouette of a Spitfire is engraved in our minds. Therefore the devs are well advised not to drop their plans for presenting us both variants. Personally, I'd happily trade in some roll rate (and €s, too) for the "classic" silhouette!

I see you also like the Huey.

How about transporting VIPs between casinos, perhaps even fire fighting missions and police/search operations after a jailbreak from Clark County jail?

Ya I hate to say it but the timing was just off on this one lol. Dx12 would of brought the performance needed for us vr guys with no compromises. Heck I'd vote for them to integrate dx12 and wait another year since realistically that's how long it's gonna take for a fully flushed out 2.0.

Since DX 12 seems to be much more low-level than DX 11, I don't think the switch would be quick and painless. So, maybe for DCS 3.0 :)

I didn't read it like that. Apparently they want to integrate a lot of stuff before releasing the Alpha. The biggest surprise is that they want to integrate multicockpit functionality into 2.0 before releasing it?!

I remember reading in one of the newsletters, Wags wasn't sure if that will make it to 2.0. A wonderful surprise, indeed.

ED have been taking my money since 1995. :P

We might be happier if DCS2 is released not full-featured but sooner. As long as it is reasonably stable. But then ED apparently wants it to be perfect upon release. Understandable, but not ideal, especially considering that we've waited so long, and that so many eta's have been missed.

Completing the move to use of a single executable. This will allow us to do long-desired features such as a satellite view in the Mission Editor, 3D objects in the Encyclopedia and Mission Editor, faster mission loading times, and a more stable product.

Whoa! I always thought that bit in bold means finish making and NOT start making.

ED have been taking my money since 1995. :P

Hey SithSpawn, the guys in my squad were talking last night and wondering about the ability to release the Hornet without 2.0. I don't know if you can answer or not, just curious.
