klem Posted September 28, 2016 Posted September 28, 2016 It needs only few hours for an experienced user to make it in 3ds MAX with texture, ambient occlusion, specular and normal maps plus with the adjusted materials. Needs another few minutes to implement and export to DCS as swap the 2D track model splines or bones to the accurate 3D LOD models in the terrain constructor if the train route is already implemented. Not so difficult. :) My 2 cents performance hit ? klem 56 RAF 'Firebirds' ASUS ROG Strix Z390-F mobo, i7 8086A @ 5.0 GHz with Corsair H115i watercooling, Gigabyte 2080Ti GAMING OC 11Gb GPU , 32Gb DDR4 RAM, 500Gb and 256Gb SSD SATA III 6Gb/s + 2TB , Pimax 8k Plus VR, TM Warthog Throttle, TM F18 Grip on Virpil WarBRD base, Windows 10 Home 64bit

Bourrinopathe Posted September 29, 2016 Posted September 29, 2016 (edited) Is that some kind of Sniper Elite spin-off? The level of detail is astonishing. :shocking: Congratulations to the team! klem Posted September 29, 2016 Posted September 29, 2016 My pre-answer was 4 posts back oinly :D Yes but some of us are already struggling with fps and don't want to reduces settings further just to see extensive rail tracks. If sections could be added in ME as targets that would be different. klem 56 RAF 'Firebirds' ASUS ROG Strix Z390-F mobo, i7 8086A @ 5.0 GHz with Corsair H115i watercooling, Gigabyte 2080Ti GAMING OC 11Gb GPU , 32Gb DDR4 RAM, 500Gb and 256Gb SSD SATA III 6Gb/s + 2TB , Pimax 8k Plus VR, TM Warthog Throttle, TM F18 Grip on Virpil WarBRD base, Windows 10 Home 64bit

If sections could be added in ME as targets that would be different. If they can do an extensive power line network, I guess a couple of rail lines (only 3d at close LOD) won't make too much of a difference. PC: 6600K @ 4.5 GHz, 12GB RAM, GTX 970, 32" 2K monitor.

Cunctator Posted September 29, 2016 Posted September 29, 2016 I strongly prefer a Normandy map without 3D rail tracks released this year over one with them sometime next year.
Justificus Posted September 29, 2016 Posted September 29, 2016 I strongly prefer a Normandy map without 3D rail tracks released this year over one with them sometime next year. Same here! SkateZilla Posted September 29, 2016 Posted September 29, 2016 I think it's almost a given that the 2d track is just a place holder until the new 3d Art is done for WWII Era Rail Systems. the texture isnt even in color.. lol.. Brigg Posted September 29, 2016 Posted September 29, 2016 Like someone said before this isn't train simulator and 3d rails aint that important to me. I would rather have the map sooner rather than later and have them add them over time.

QuiGon Posted September 30, 2016 Posted September 30, 2016 One of my absolute favs! Damn, it seems there really was a game about everything back in those days  Intel i7-12700K @ 8x5GHz+4x3.8GHz + 32 GB DDR5 RAM + Nvidia Geforce RTX 2080 (8 GB VRAM) + M.2 SSD + Windows 10 64Bit DCS Panavia Tornado (IDS) really needs to be a thing!
Cunctator Posted September 30, 2016 Posted September 30, 2016 Gameplay actually looks pretty good and intense. For me and my friends "a game about everything" was a big argument in favor of PCs when I was young. That were great times when small teams could make AAA titles in less than a years and each piece of new hardware revolutionized the experience. I guess it took less hours to make "The Train" than a single locomotive for DCS.
