USSInchon Posted August 21, 2016 Posted August 21, 2016 Nice :D How much will it cost? XD $50 for the DCS: AIM-54 Phoenix and it will be released in Two Weeks.
Raven68 Posted August 21, 2016 Posted August 21, 2016 ED has a say on pretty much everything from the 3rd parties. Agreed. It does sound like LNS is going to another level of flight model development to bring this missile into DCSW. This is the first I ever read about any of the teams, including ED, using CFD to aid in the development process. This is some serious business and I wonder if the environment in DCSW is being enhanced or currently able to support some of the factors mentioned by Cobra in this update. Regardless, I can appreciate the attention to detail that LNS has for this potential game changer. Thanks for the update Cobra and I hope to see this soon, but it sounds like a ton of work to be done still. Do your best team. It's appreciated. Intel i5-9600K @ 3.7GHz; Gigabyte Z370XP SLI Mobo; G.SKILL Ripjaws V Series 64GB (4 x 16GB) 288-Pin DDR4 GIGABYTE GeForce RTX 4080 16GB 256-Bit GDDR6; Thermaltake Water 3.0 Certified Liquid Cooling System Windows 11 Professional HP Reverb G2 /TrackIR 5 in case VR dies; Thrustmaster HOTAS Warthog w/ Thrustmaster T-Flight Rudder Pedals
Fracture Posted August 21, 2016 Posted August 21, 2016 Sounds good, patiently awaiting that buy now button.
Revelation Posted August 21, 2016 Posted August 21, 2016 Is that statement confirmed by devs or something? would like a source on what ED has say on or not. Thank you in advance It was a statement made by Wags. I cannot remember if it was in an old video or a post. You are more than welcome to search for it. SneakyBastd Posted August 21, 2016 Posted August 21, 2016 God I love the attention to detail in the 54 flight profiles! Let's hope LNS don't get overruled on this! If aim54 motors burn out after 5 seconds and can't reach something 10nm away.... 7700K@5Ghz, 32GB 3600 CL16, 3080.
Shadowless Posted August 21, 2016 Posted August 21, 2016 Great job! What is the software to make the mesh? I only have some experience on ICEM. [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]

QJW Posted August 21, 2016 Posted August 21, 2016 This is awesome news. Glad to hear you guys are moving along quite well. Can't wait till you guys release this beauty :D
Cobra847 Posted August 21, 2016 Author Posted August 21, 2016 could you post some cfd testing pic of the airplane in development, dear corba? We don't use CFD for the aircraft. We have plenty of real windtunnel test data for this. Nicholas Dackard Founder & Lead Artist Heatblur Simulations https://www.facebook.com/heatblur/

Tello Posted August 21, 2016 Posted August 21, 2016 Great read! I wish you the best process onward. But flying the Mig-21 I fail to see how any module ever created after can top the Fishbed :P please prove me wrong ;) (I can't even imagine) [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]

LeCuvier Posted August 21, 2016 Posted August 21, 2016 Very interesting reading, and an example of the amount of knowledge and effort required for these sims. Thanks! Pocket Sized Posted August 21, 2016 Posted August 21, 2016 Lol true @Cobra847 will these leave a contrail? Most certainly. For long range shots the enemy will be too far away to see it though. DCS modules are built up to a spec, not down to a schedule. In order to utilize a system to your advantage, you must know how it works.
