Precog
Looks really good. I wonder if there has been improvement in the night lighting due to this map being re-worked. Any chance of some info there and/or a comparison shot? Check out my 'real world' video series [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
gospadin
Some of the trees at Kobuleti and Kutaisi are standing very close to the runways. I don't know what these places look like in reality, but I somehow doubt that authorities would accept trees to stand that dangerously close to the runways. You get this even in the USA. Doesn't really matter how close the trees are to pavement, what matters is the remaining runway once you consider the position of a displaced threshold to meet maximum glide slope clearance requirements. Silver_Dragon
Ok, 2.5 is delayed another year for dam (damn?) improvements... you can thank Silver Dragon ;) Not bad if after ED release Caucasus, can continue update and improve them ;)
ED Team NineLine Posted September 10, 2017 Author ED Team Share Posted September 10, 2017 Looks really good. I wonder if there has been improvement in the night lighting due to this map being re-worked. Any chance of some info there and/or a comparison shot? I think night lighting is still being tweaked and seeing what they can do without punching our GPUs out cold, or biting their ears off at least :) Forum Rules • My YouTube • My Discord - NineLine#0440• **How to Report a Bug**

Buzzles
Hopefully not too long now. All these screenshots are great and all, but tbh, 2.5 can't come fast enough for all the other benefits. Fancy trying Star Citizen? Click here!

Konovalov
I can only hope that a unified 2.5 will be out by end of 2017. Revived Caucasus is looking amazing. I think the long wait will be worth it. And it appears pretty evident that ED are putting in a stack of man hours for what is effectively a free update. So credit where credit is due. 2018 should be the best year yet for DCS with 2.5 merge, updated and modernised Caucasus, Strait of Hormuz map, along with new modules Hornet, Harrier and Tomcat. Nevada looks simply gorgeous now. PeaceSells
One thing that always catches my eye is how beautiful the old Caucasus map is. The new one, besides being beautiful, is apparently closer to the real life Caucasus and has apparently more definition too. Although it looks like the pics were taken with lower anti-aliasing for the old one than for the new one. Was position of the sun about the same for both maps? Anyway, flying the free Su-25T on the free Caucasus not too long ago was my first experience in DCS and got me really impressed and hooked into it. It's nice to see that ED is keeping this tradition strong. Slazi
Any chance of syncing Steam and standalone with this release? Raven (Elysian Angel)
I cant say much, but I will say so far its on par with NTTR and Normandy. Which of those 2? The frame-rates I get in NTTR are pretty much the same compared to current Caucasus, whereas the frame-rate in Normandy is less than half of that. beLlych
I think that it is a liitle bit incorrect that they are taken in different time of day. I noticed that current Caucasus screens are made in the noon, while almost all new Caucasus screens are from 4-6 P.M. evening. Just a note... I would suspect once the merge happens we will get to a better sync between the 2, I think once it settles Steam will still lag behind stand alone a few days, but it wont be as bad as it is now I believe. VZ_342
My experience in the USAF was that "stadium lighting" wasn't a priority before the mid-80's. We had light carts with two floodlights, which worked well for about half the aircraft (EF-111). Sometimes we had to use flashlights (the old ones with actual light bulbs in them). This was in CONUS, and we had a bit larger budget at the time than the Soviets; I wouldn't think they had such lights back then. Ah, the stars at night in the middle of the desert! Very beautiful! Maybe put in a line for "pre-1980 = no stadium lighting"?
