I watched 3 mins and it looks like your average reality TV show on mtv. I can't take this serious. Maybe I'm jaded because of service but it looks like a joke and super lame.

First impression but it's not like every other reality TV show on MTV. Far from that. First and foremost it wasn't scripted – edited yes but not scripted.

Great series, i have the DVDs.
Me same. :)

Agreed, tried to enjoy it but it just feels silly and cringey.

Great series, not reality tv, these are actual fighter pilots going thru F-18 school. "Guns", is the first Canadian female fighter pilot to intercept a bear bomber. Good stuff!

Shamus Allen did his RMC basic flight training at the same flight school in Kingston, ON a bit before I was there.

He went on to fly the CF-18 for a few years and then went on to the Snowbirds.

I watched it a few months ago and enjoyed a lot. Unfortunately didn't find it in DVD and the Youtube videos are not that good quality.

It has lots of nice HUD footage, there is a lot more to the eye than the narrator says. I vividly remember a sequence where one of the trainees shoots a simulated AMRAAM and then tries to follow up with an AIM-9, uncaging it up to three times but the seeker never tracks the target.

It was probably first mentioned on the forum here around the time it first aired and I agree, it's a great show!

Also bonus points for narrator Kavan Smith, whom the Sci-Fi fans among us might know as Deputy Andy (Eureka) or Major Lorne (SG Atlantis).

Back on topic, seeing those guys struggle with air refueling, BFM, hell, seeing them struggle every step of the way, makes me feel a little less stupid when the same happens to me in DCS. :D

Edit: Come to think of it, just the other day I had a CADC failure in the A-10C and wasn't entirely sure what to make of it (I've only been flying the Hog for 7 years, why should I know how to handle problems... :music_whistling: ;)) - and that actually reminded me of, was it Shamus?, who reset a malfunctioning system on a solo flight numerous times, which the IP wasn't too happy with afterwards. :smartass:

It was Nailin who didn't have "sim" boxed...he was soon after dropped from training.

Loved that series. Great footage and a nice look into the reality of becoming a fighter pilot.

I really enjoyed Jetstream. The only thing that it had in common with Reality TV, is reality and the fact that it was on TV. More of a documentary, dealing with both the technical and human aspects of fighter pilot training. How ' bout that handle: "Blow" Jobin?! LMAO!

I'm sure Shamus remembers why having the popcorn ready is so important.

There was similar US-made series about the F-15 but they only aired 3 shows and pulled the plug, at least here in Canada.

I did exactly the same and watched all episodes a few week ago for preparation (and also to get more hyped) for the EA of the hornet :D

Absolutely fantastic documentation, was very interesting and informative

I think it was called APN or APS...something like that. Only aired three episodes and I remember the third had a cliff hanger when one guy couldn't get the F-15 to stop on the runway.

I was able to find the DVD's for the show and have them at home. IM me if you want me to send them to you.

That's a great series.

Forgot where I found this but maybe somebody knows. (Wish I had this in my garage)

If you guys are wondering, the guys speak Quebec French, with a Saguenay accent. ;)

Back in the day, I wished so hard that I'd get this opportunity but it didn't happen. One day a friend told me that even minor hockey teams were sometimes invited there: my head exploded at such unfairness! :) In a few days, it's VR payback time! :pilotfly:

The pilot appears to be a civilian pilot unfamiliar with BFM, obviously. I believe this is in Bagotville, home of the 425 Alouettes and 433 Porc-épics.

American Fighter Pilot was the F15 doc circa 2002 and it got canned after 2 episodes. I have the dvds. Not a great show, too Hollywood.

I really enjoyed the show the first time I watched it several years ago.

Would love to have it in better quality than YouTube uploads, or torrents which nobody seeds anymore, I think - files were ripped with really bad settings, lots of interlacing problems...

I searched for a DVD, but it looks it's not that easy to get it now. Paperny Entertainment was acquired by Entertainment One, and there is no more Paperny DVD store... There is one used DVD on Paypal from Australia (for about 100$) and some Pakistani online store kind of sells it for 8$ (but wants 90$ for postage). It's easier to find 100 years old books than a 10 years old DVD...

Anybody got any idea how we might get a better version of Jetstream? I don't think contacting Paperny Films or Entertainment One would be helpful, but if enough of us do it...?
