Hey guys, I cant replicate, can you guys give me a track? I am especially interested in seeing the error after a normal traffic pattern.

Thanks!

I will try to provide one today, maybe with a video, what do you want me to do in it ?

The F-5, are you seeing it in other things as well?

Well in the F-5 it's a problem but I didn't notice it in any other aircraft that I own. I would like to know if the same bug happens in the F-86F, being the closest aircraft to the F-5.

Here is the video, it's a "Quick" flight from Kerman to Bandar Abbas, with a few hard maneuvers. Loaded with 100% Internal fuel, 3x150Gal Tanks and 2xAIM-9P5.

I do adjust the ADI a few times, after takeoff is the where is saw a ridiculous amount of error (around 9°), it seems to accumulate error particularly at low speeds.

EDIT : Forgot to save the track like an idiot. This isn't really a very good report, I'll try to make something shorter and that showcases the problem instead of having 30 minutes of raw footage.

Here it's is (and it also shows that the previously fixed gear warning bug is back)

The pitch error seems to start already when rolling out on final at approx 700ft and becomes more noticable at 500ft. Couldn't get the total error to exceed 5° on the first try, but I think it shows the problem(s).

I don’t suppose there has been any work on this bug in the interim? It’s pretty much my one gripe with the F-5 module. Flying Day VFR is no issue, but any actual IMC with such an unreliable attitude indicator gets dicey at best.

Suggestion: FSX and P3D both offer menu options to disable gyro drift. Perhaps this can be implemented in DCS somehow?

This has plagued the F-5 since forever, and the mustang too.

Why the thread is set as [NEED TRACK FILE] I don't know, since it was provided a few posts back.

On a recent multiplayer flight I observed a fast bank angle drift rate on my Attitude Indicator.  After a short cross country flight with very little maneuvering, it had drifted almost 5 deg toward a left bank indication.  It seems too fast to be realistic, but I have no data to back up this feeling.  Has anyone else seen this?

Track is attached.  I was able to watch it at 5x realtime and see the effect.  It is especially bad after I make the left turn inland toward the destination airport, and gets progressively worse as I descend for landing.

Yes, I have noticed that the F5 attitude indicator easily gets out of sync with the true horizon, after doing any significant banking or climb/dive maneuvers.  I flew the T38 in USAF pilot training, it did not have that problem.  So, I think it is a simulation bug that needs fixing.

I had the same issue ... And with a bigger deviation too.

It seems to be a known thing, but I don't know if it's an issue or not ...

But you can use the "Fast Erect" button near the artifical horizont to reset it  ... note that you'll need to use the standby attitude indicator to level and then use the fast erect button.

Interesting thing about this I found is (I dont know if it plays trick on my mind or is real), If you startup but leave radar OFF, then the ADI will drift. If you startup and switch radar to STBY and then ON after take off, ADI and horizon on radar scope will drift. But strange thing for me is it does not happen if you start up and leave radar in STBY for the duration of the flight, ADI will not drift, it will stay aligned no matter how many crazy maneuvers you do.

Have you been able to fix it during the flight?

Yes.

I'll try that. Sounds like a collection of bugs.

I seem to recall having the standby indicator drift as well sometimes.

Has ED acknowledged it?

Not as far as I'm aware, no.

The last message from ED was "can't replicate". If it indeed doesn't happen with radar in STBY, that could explain why @NineLine did not see it.

It may be related to the issue I reported here, example track attached in that thread

I suppose the flow is it make take some time for the devs to get on an issue and by that time a track may be out of date. I've seen tracks getting broken by just a single patch. There are several open topics pertaining to the issue. With some pointers from one of the testers I tried to re-create the bug and was unable to. I tried the same mission (instant action original Takeoff mission) and maneuvers I did the last time I saw that bug manifest - in Dec-Jan 2023/2024. As I said I couldn't replicate it. I followed the Antonov all the Tibilisi with no ADI drift.

From the reading of some other threads I've got on my list to try:

1. Radar off right from the start.

2. High AoA horizontal maneuvers.

3. Vertical and scewed combat turns after takeoff.

So, guys, let's squash it and get it on ED's queue finally! The time has come.

Please try replicating the bug on your end with all mods disabled for the time of track recording.

I managed to make it occur after 20 mins of flight. I wouldn't say I reproduced the bug because I'm not sure what are the exact steps to make it manifest. The attached track file has the following flight profile (Radar Off, I don't think it's relevant though):

1. for 10 mins: TO from Batumi, single turn West, straight and level. Result: Not a degree of drift.

2. X mins of banked flight straight and level. Result: No drift.

3. up to 15:20 in-game: Immelman followed by straight and level flight. Result: 5 deg drift.

A video recording I took in parallel with recording the track. Not entire flight is included in the video.
