Great shader, improves incredibly the colors and general sharpen. I wish ED would eventually adopt it, or at least take the possitives out of it.

If it is a substantial improvement I too wish ED would adopt it, cause I am not going to mod my DCS install.

Don, as discussed before, this shader doesn’t mod your install, it simply adds a few files into the bin folder. If you don’t like what you see, then just remove them. No harm done.

This is the best mod I've ever seen for DCS in VR. Spotting ground targets, and identifying planes are now possible in my rift s (I just use opencomposite and hit "run via steamvr" when I hit play). Before, I couldn't id a target until I was well within firing range. Now, I can identify much further out.

Yes this is a fantastic piece of software for vr,

i use this with the pimax artisan , and when applied it basically makes the image so much sharper and cleaner with better contrast and colors

and the clarity is excellent , it is like a free upgrade to gfx basically ,,720p to 1080p for free

and its all adjustable, the colors and tone and sharpness strength, lots of fiddling to get a stunning image  with very little performance hit for me at any rate

i also use this in automobilista2 and dirt rally 2 to great effect,

well done to whoever put this together this is mod of the year for VR for me , and well worth spending some time on if you feel like a free upgrade for your lower res vr headset

regards and stay safe folks

I'm with you on this, not generally a mod fan. With the exception of SkyrimVR I run vanilla all day long.

That being said, got curious enough to look at this today, and there is a measurable improvement. Going to need to play around a bit more, but for now I fly with it enabled and see how I feel after a few hours of stick time.

So I'm trying out the GitHub version, but after going through this thread I'm not sure which version most settled on, the GitHub or Nexus version?

Well down the rabbit hole I went...

Okay had some time to play today and this is what I ended up with...

I'm now running both the Open FSR 1.1 and speed-of-heat's version of Sharper Eye.  My settings are below along with links to Open FSR 1.1, speed-of-heats version of Sharper Eye, and a link to his guide as well.

Very happy with the results so far.  Nice upgrade in both performance and imagery.

** @speed-of-heat if you prefer me to not list your links here please let me know and I will remove them ASAP.

It’s fine, for sharpness in fsr I set that to 0, which seems to be off as opposed to 1.0 which I used previously.

Thanks, I'll give that a look.

Tried turning off the sharpening in FSR as well, and while I gained a few fps, visually I found it better with the FSR sharpening on 1.0

So for now I'll be sticking with both Sharper Eye and FSR using the setting above with MSAA x2.

For anyone one the fence, I would suggest at the very least give Open FSR a go. It's a nice performance gain and visual improvement with sharpening on and MSAA x2.

Holy cow!

I just tried out this VR shader for the first time and it's almost like DCS with an improved graphics engine.

I have seen threads in the forum about VR shaders in the past but never tried them out myself.

I'm close to 1k hours of DCS in VR and now I know what I've been missing.

Thanks for posting this thread!!

Bingo, that did it for me. Previously I liked the performance increase with FSR but couldn’t stand the shimmering. At 0, I can run FSR at .77 and Reshade too, at the settings in your 3090 guide, MSAA at 4x, and maintain a forced 45 everywhere. Even hit 90 at times in the Caucasus. And I am happy with the cockpit clarity and the external visuals. I think I can stop tuning, lol.

Has anyone tried this on the Quest 2 without using Steam? That is, DCS standalone and the oculus runtime? What happens if you drop these files in and run it that way?

Thanks!

FSR mod only works via SteamVR so you have to launch DCS in SteamVR API, add "--force_steam_VR" to your launch options

Is the OpenComposite which we use instead of SteamVR for Reshade good enough for FSR too?

Unafortunately you can´t use OpenComposite and FSR at the same cause the dll you have to change to make it work it´s the same for both.

If some cant make a OpenComposite DLL mod with the FSR code that will be a win

I dream of a world where all of these things will just work together, regardless of platform/manufacturer! If only I were smarter I would take a crack at this, but I work in government, so everything is still in BASIC! 🤔

Hey guys, I just saw this thread and although I've read most of the post but still have a few questions and appreciate if anyone could clarify, thanks.

1. Copy and paste "RashedVR_sharpen_color" folder under the game directory\bin folder, is this the correct step? As below picture shows.

2. If I want to uninstall this mode, do I just need to remove this "ReshadeVR_sharpen_color" folder?

3. After I run the game, does the mod replace any default game files?
