I just hope when SNIPER comes it comes with manual update too. That should be standard practice, when some change happens, the manual follows.

@BIGNEWY have you tried it yet? If you did what is the best thing that is coming with it and we dont have it now?

From a technical point of view (and I suppose this applies to all TGPs, not just Sniper), how does the draw distance graphic setting effect the TGP image at longer ranges?  i.e. is it possible to see beyond your normal render limit with the TGP?  Will the ATPs better optics be negated by my constrained graphics settings?

By the way, because it's been bothering me and probably has some justification – why is the image itself so blurry in the basic modes? Even compared to Lightning, it's like a step backwards; only PiP starts to look better (whether it's the optics or the digital processing). What's going on here?

Best video I could find is this one, uploaded 11 years ago, but can't know when it was actually recorded (must be some time before upload time but no info when) so it might be the same as our pod or some different version. Image quality seems better than what we have but I'm not sure we have the same version. Symbology suggests its mounted on F-16.

For comparison, do you have an IR (WHOT) screenshot of a similar building 44 nm away with the Lightning pod?

Did you watch both videos? That was just an example. Here you have TV mode at 14, plus there's a TV shot at 1.4 miles that's also blurry. It looks like the Focus is off.

Shown CCD resolution for Sniper:

  • HD 1280×720 (most common in older and base versions)
  • Possible: 1920×1080 (Full HD) in newer and export versions of Sniper SE

There is some issue with medium and low settings that units are rendered farther out than terrain objects, which is a core issue rather than a pod-specific one, meaning it affects all pods. Is this what you are referring to?

I would tend to think that the quality of the Lightning Pod was, or is, rather too high 🤔
But since I don't really know anything about it, this is of course a purely subjective impression 😉

Kind of.  The question is whether or not I can take advantage of the longer range optics of the ATP with my 'Visibility Range' setting at 'Medium', or will I need to increase it to get the benefit?

Due to how LODs work, it will all be based on settings, so if you cut it down in options, it will be cut down in game, whether viewing through a TGP or not.
