Thx, set the Low Latency to Ultra. Will test it.

But also of course, 4090 does the difference. I am waiting for new my MSI Suprim to come in few days 🙂 Thx for

Did this help?

What I would like in DCS is to turn off some detail of buildings, some special LOD for VR that can be turned on, but this question is not for @OnReTech only but for ED mostly. All in all, why do I need a standing bike in VR on the ground or phone booths in London. This affects performance and is a problem in really big cities like London. There should be a mode for VR that reduces details as on/off for VR users. An example is the Marianas, e.g. still the worst map in terms of VR (Guam).

Just idea for @Flappie ;).

Just like units, terrain objects already have different LODs. The closer you are, the more detailed they are. The Cairo pyramids highest LOD is apparently too much for DCS (it's reported internally). Maybe some other highly detailed buildings need some tweaking by OnReTech.

On ED front, remember the work on Vulkan API is ongoing. I do hope it will help a lot in areas with a lot of identicial buildings such as Cairo when it's out.

Be warned: this video is not from ED, which means the promising results theorized in this video are pure speculation made by a user.

Read my post from an hour ago. Yes, it seems it does help. I have no more stutters as before, there are still some small stutters, depending from which angle I look down on the city and for how long as well. But its at least flyable now.

You mean purchasing Sinai? I think it is surely worth it, every penny. One of the best made maps for DCS. And will only get better, based on all what report here.

Weird, I feel completely different. The map works great, except for Cairo of course, but Cairo itself performs better than London in Normandy 2 (over Cair I have about 60+ fps, over London 45+). Other parts of the map - textures good, FPS at 72 frames, stable (I have 72Hz without Motion Reprojection), smooth like a butter. I can't complain about the performance. I think it's a matter of hardware for some and maybe settings.

My same experiences but I do have this beast of a new machine so I might not be best at testing for general public.

The only map that runs really well in VR for me is NTTR.  Caucasus is decent, but everything else is bad enough that I'd rather fly in 2d.

All of the newer maps seem made for helicopter pilots and 4k screenshot jockies.

Normandy 2 map is very smooth in VR .

I'm on a 3090TI and Pi Max 8kx very smooth, at 1.25% rendering, the only complaint is its blurry, this was just like the 1st release of Normandy 2.

7800X3D, 64meg ram and 4090.  Quest2. I have everything pretty much maxed out and did not change any settings from those I use on all maps. Vis distance is medium.  Subjectively  I'd say this map works as smoothly as Caucuses map.  Even flying the heuy low over Ciaro and looking out 90deg it's smooth.  Managed to land on top of a pyramid <G>, I'm actualy blown away by how smooth it is even iin the insanely huge urban areas.  Well done.

I'm very happy with the performance as well. I run MSAAx4 and maxed vis distances etc. The only thing I really have turned down is shadows to flat. But I too have a 4090. Perhaps its a VRAM issue for some?

This is for 2D not for VR

Impossible maxed all + MSAAx4 play smooth any Map, especially Sinai with tons of objects.

With my performance ovecloced CPU to 5GHz + 4090 to 3000Mhz in big cities fps drop from 91FPS to evan to 60FPS, i play with out reprojection, MSAA - off. Other maps work well with this settings.

I play in VR only. I do have fixed frame rate of 45fps though. I notice too much stutter if the frame rate varies at all.

For me (Quest 2 at max resolution and NVIDIA 3070), this is one of the smoothest map, whether on desert or large cities.

On the other hand, Normandy 2.0 is now the worst of all, I mean really worse than Mariannas, which works decent for me.

I read that for other players, it's completely the opposite. I guess there must be a few settings with big influence on the fps depending on the map.

For me the Sinai map is way better FPS wise than the Normandy 2 map.

Draw distance is far better on the Sinai map.

In most Aircraft / Helicopters i have >45 Fps (normally I have it locked at 45) with the Quest 2.

This map is superb in the harrier, but poor performance in low level choppers.

Looks great though.

HP G2 Reverb (Needs upgrading), Windows 10 VR settings: IPD is 64.5mm, High image quality, G2 reset to 60Hz refresh rate. set to OpenXR, but Open XR tool kit disabled.

DCS: Pixel Density 1.0, Forced IPD at 55 (perceived world size), DLSS setting is quality at 1.0. VR Driver system: I9-9900KS 5Ghz CPU. XI Hero motherboard and RTX 3090 graphics card, 64 gigs Ram, No OC... Everything needs upgrading in this system!.

Had my first go at Cairo, I started at 50FPS with my G2s, over much if the city I got 35-40fps, flying by the pyramids looking at the city I get 32FPS.

Also the pyramids are blurry, not at all like the pictures, no stones, just blurry slope.

It's actually not bad on my rig and hardware. Cpu OC @ 5.1Ghz and a slight undervolt on my gpu running around 1985Mhz - 62-65c - Vram temps are around 75-80c- I have my fps locked at 45fps in VB and using mbucchia's Varjo Foveated Rendering " my man ! ". Way better performance then the WMR & the G2. I think the map being new we're gonna get alittle stutters here and there that's just how it is right now, it is what it is and ain't what it ain't. The Sinai map is beautiful especially around sunset and perf on my end is expectable enough to enjoy. I buy all the maps mostly to support  the developers and also for my own collection.

Also these guys are a new team member no need to bash them. I think they did a fantastic job.

I am getting some really good results and am very happy with this map so far.

High texture settings, local traffic, water set to low. All other settings medium. MSAA x4. Rift s set to 2150 (longest dimension) on openxr toolkit and then 130% supersampling with FSR and about 60-70% sharpening. Oculus auto ASW.

I am getting 80 FPS in the desert with clear sky and a steady 40 (reprojected to 80) over most other areas. Cairo drops to 35-40 and some stuttering when low flying. I even experimented with setting texture to "extreme" and the view of Cairo is great, with surprisingly not as big an impact as I was expecting. I'm going to keep this on for most flying.

I've not tested a really heavy mission yet with lots of assets. Max of about 30 so far.

I’ve spend such a long time perfecting my VR settings to the point where I have the scenery flashing past me when looking to the left or right and it’s smooth as silk not a hint of a stutter when looking at the buildings.
Delighted with it on the Caucasus map, the Persian Gulf Map, the Channel map, and the Normandy 2.0 map.
I had to remove all my mods, repaired dcs open beta, removed reshade after much deliberation because I love the effects of reshade but it was necessary and I got DCS running better than ever. I have my settings such that I don’t see trees growing in front of me, but still don’t drop below 45fps and very very rarely get the red CPU bound that I found causes the stutters. I use MT version of DCS mainly because I found the clouds in MT version in VR look much better. Also because I have found settings that seem to work with it. I’d like to point out that I set steam VR to use its own version of open XR runtime. And I have motion vector set in my steam VR settings. I found very little difference between this and auto, but found motion vector along with motion smoothing enabled worked really well for my setup.

So getting onto my point, I decided to purchase the Sinai map, and I guess perfecting my settings will have to start over again 😒.
Funnily enough I’ve been flying loads in the F15E recently and In Caucasus or the PG it runs beautifully, I try it in Sinai and get all these wobbly stutters around the built up areas. Tried another repair tried erasing fxo and metashaders folders, still the same. Tried the F16 and it was completely different buildings flashing past me smooth, at least I have something to work with there, although I only tried it once and need to give it a more thorough examination.
So at the moment I’m finding the F15E doesn’t seem to get along with the Sinai map so well, might try playing with some settings tomorrow and maybe reduce my visible range. It’s all very frustrating, you find one module works really well in one map with certain settings and then not well on another. I guess both are in their development stages and I need to be patient.
One thing I can say though is that it doesn’t matter what module I try in the South Atlantic map, if I fly over the built up areas it’s awful in VR, and that is a disappointment as I just don’t use the map. I would like to but I just can’t get anywhere with it.
