Obnoxious DCS startup times since 2.8.6.41393 OpenBeta MT (around 120 seconds!)

Nice to see I'm not alone. Using Reverb G2.
I'm falling asleep waiting for it to load.

I've been here a while, and my experience with OB patches, is that it is often one step forward, two steps back, but long term things get sorted eventually.  MT is still unusable for me, for instance, but I'm confident ED will get there eventually.  With module announcements coming sometimes a decade before release, patience, when DCS is concerned, is most definitely a virtue.

Please, don't minimize this. The change is very large in terms of % and is caused by some negative resource allocation. Possibly VRAM, RAM, or something else, in any case too many processes are going on that haven't happened before. This may also be the tip of the iceberg, as there are also occasional freezes in the game starting with this patch, which has been addressed here. acc. For me, both issues are related. It's not only the opening but also the closing of DCS and perhaps micro freezes during gameplay.

I would like to contribute some more logs. Having DCS installed and running on my second PC behaves with exactly the same issues regarding startup-time. These are the results after updating to DCS 2.8.6.41363 Open Beta and slow-repair, second startup:

dcs MT 2.8.6.41363.log around 100 seconds with MT

dcs ST 2.8.6.41363.log around 93 seconds with ST

Rolling back (slow repair and second startup) to prior update DCS 2.8.6.41066 Open Beta results in:

dcs MT 2.8.6.41066.log around 30 seconds with MT

dcs ST 2.8.6.41066.log around 30 seconds with ST

Same here - around 90 seconds now ST/MT and around 34 seconds before - this doesn't make me suicidal but it's a big percentage increase in loading times...

MT gives me about a 110 second load time

ST gives me about 80 second load time

Tried this with Vanilla Game, NO mods of any kind, loading time vary from 3 to 5 minutes. Once game is running loading a mission is no slower than it was previously, reinstalled many Mods etc and its exactly the same, so pretty certain its a game loading issue.

Same. (Since last patch/install of F-15E)

I guess the MT version load times weren't bad enough so we had to extend them to ST version.

2.5+ minutes to get here... then get to stare at the empty progress bar for another couple minutes.

Very long load times.

I am constantly looking from under my VR headset to see if the game has hung!

HP G2 Reverb, Windows 10 VR settings: IPD is 64.5mm, High image quality, G2 reset to 60Hz refresh rate as standard. OpenXR user, Open XR tool kit disabled. Open XR was a massive upgrade for me.

DCS: Pixel Density 1.0, Forced IPD at 55 (perceived world size), 0 X MSAA, 0 X SSAA. My real IPD is 64.5mm. Prescription VROptition lenses installed. VR Driver system: I9-9900KS 5Ghz CPU. XI Hero motherboard and RTX 3090 graphics card, 64 gigs Ram, No OC at the mo. MT user  (2 - 5 fps gain). DCS run at 60Hz.

Vaicom user. Thrustmaster warthog user. MFG pedals with damper upgrade.... and what an upgrade! Total controls Apache MPDs set to virtual Reality height with brail enhancements to ensure 100% button activation in VR.. Simshaker Jet Pro vibration seat.. Uses data from DCS not sound.... you know when you are dropping into VRS with this bad boy.

dcs.log My record, about 7 minutes, wow (ok, with mods, basically terrain, trees and smoke but before the last update, I didn't change anything, and it was about 30 seconds only and it was probably the maximum).

I did slow repair. It doesnt help.

Same here...  On my i9 10850k; 4090; 64gb RAM, and installed on M.2 it is very noticeably longer.  At least twice as long as before 2.8 I think..

This is from two logs after I renamed my Saved Games DCS OB folder, and cleaned out all mods for the install folder.  Then did a slow Repair..  It's spending over 15 secs trying to load a SouthAtlantic.dll?  Seems strange that this dll is in a buried 'bin' folder?  But maybe that's by design...

As far a resources go... I noticed this the first time I reported this behavior when it first appeared (for me) in MT.

I would sit there waiting, and could eventually hear my CPU and GPU spin down to silent. It was several times like this that I noticed when I took off my G2 to see what was up, the fans would spin back to life, and the sim would continue loading.

At that point I would simply sit with my G2 in my lap watching my monitor... wait for the progress to halt, fans go silent and them I would simply touch the sensor between the lenses of the G2. Which would immediately cause my CPU/GPU to fans to spin up again, and the sim would continue loading.

I think the most bothersome aspect of this "bug" is I saw little to no fix for it on the MT side and had switched back to ST. Only change since, apparently they've migrated it to the ST side.

and still can't upload my log file.
