Niviuk80 Posted April 10, 2022 Posted April 10, 2022 As reality is giving us the conflict scenario that does not require lots of imagination on possible escalation, I believe this one could be wanted DCS war terrain by many. The conflict goes out of control. As Belarus being under political control of Russia and Kaliningrad being Russian exclave, Russia attempts to close the gap on Polish-Lithuanian border. NATO forces are already in Poland, squadrons of Polish F16s, American F18 and F15 based in airbases Łask near Łódź and Krzesiny south of Poznan. Kaliningrad is basically one big military area with airbases, tactical nuclear weapon launchers, ground and naval forces and they strike an offensive into south, when Russian/Belarussian forces strike from the east. This is war scenario with Kaliningrad - Belarus - Russia on red side, and Poland, Czech, Slovakia, Lithuania, Latvia and Ukraine on Blue side with Ukraine, Lithuania and east Poland being main battlefield. I would shout "take my money" for map and campain like this. 1
MAXsenna Posted April 10, 2022 Posted April 10, 2022 This has been discussed numerous times in numerous threads.Though I'd like it too, but it ain't gonna happen for the foreseeable future. Sent from my MAR-LX1A using Tapatalk
draconus Posted April 10, 2022 Posted April 10, 2022 @Niviuk80 you're bordering on breaking rule 1.7, careful there. Poland/Baltic map is frequently asked for map though which is great potential conflict area but pretty boring as a terrain. I'd like to see it one day. 1 Win10 i7-10700KF 32GB RTX4070S Quest 3 T16000M VPC CDT-VMAX TFRP FC3 F-14A/B F-15E CA SC NTTR PG Syria
Mike Force Team Posted April 10, 2022 Posted April 10, 2022 (edited) @Niviuk80 When I looked at the map you posted, it is a large map. To create this type of a map would likely take consideration time, money, and personnel to create. While ED says no to the map you are requesting, look to using the existing maps for enjoyment. SkYwAlK3R-_ Posted April 28, 2022 Posted April 28, 2022 Hey ED My wish would be a Cold War Europe with whole East and West Germany parts of Poland, Czech Republic doen to Austria... Would fit in the Timeline of Airplanes and Tanks we got 7
schurem Posted May 5, 2022 Posted May 5, 2022 (edited) I'm afraid that due to the density of buildings and stuff the map would have to be smaller. But even a smaller map of say the Fulda area where we could do close air support, battlefield air interdiction and maybe some slightly deeper logistics strikes would be... Still, even with a size reduced to put the nearest large airbases right on the edge of the map, the amount of structures, roads and such would be absolutely prohibitive with current map generation tech up to current DCS standards. It would take ten thousand monks years of their life to make it. Good luck finding those Edited May 5, 2022 by schurem 3 I5 9600KF, 32GB, 3080ti, G2, PointCTRL
C_W_S Posted May 5, 2022 Posted May 5, 2022 (edited) We are getting spoilt for choice regarding maps now, with new locations coming thick and fast. However, I feel that the Baltic Sea has been too long neglected! We have plenty of appropriate aircraft and (above all) Soviet-era smaller ships to populate such a map. Geopolitically, it's certainly a hot spot - both during the cold war and now. It would be a really interesting place especially for the Viggen, where it would be able to carry out the very missions which it was designed to perform. Also, would make for a beautiful map if the Swedish and Åland/SW Finland archipelagos could be included. Something like this: The major airbases of Ronneby, Linköping, Uppsala and Kaliningrad are on this map, the naval bases of Karlskrona, Berga and Kaliningrad and plenty of the purpose-built stretches of public highway in Sweden which the Viggen so loves to land on Please, please, please Development Team, take note!!! Mike Force Team Posted May 7, 2022 Posted May 7, 2022 I agree that a Baltic Sea map would be a great addition to the DCS maps. Along with the Viggens, the F/A-18s would enjoy both landing on runways as well as aircraft carriers. MFT 2
upyr1 Posted May 12, 2022 Posted May 12, 2022 This would come in two flavors a 1990s Yugoslavian war allied force map and a world war II map. 5
C_W_S Posted May 12, 2022 Posted May 12, 2022 (edited) I agree, we definitely need a Baltic Sea map. But we need less of the Russian mainland and more of Sweden, to include some of the air bases and road stretches which double as landing strips for the Viggen. I posted this a few days ago in this forum. Would make an epic Cold War map, such a geopolitical hot spot... Edited May 12, 2022 by C_W_S Forgot photo
bies Posted May 15, 2022 Posted May 15, 2022 It would be an ultimate map, perfect for most DCS modules. 1
Boosterdog Posted May 16, 2022 Posted May 16, 2022 @schuremis bang on. Even if it could be done it would take too much dev time to produce believably. The ambition to model the more densely populated areas of Northern Europe resulted in a very unengaging, less than believable map and clunky map in the other ww2 sim. And that was despite some bold claims about intelligent tech being deployed populate it. C_W_S Posted May 17, 2022 Posted May 17, 2022 This really has the potential to be the next big map in DCS. It covers a very large area, but a lot of it is water which is great for carrier ops (even though it's unrealistic that a US carrier group would ever enter such a confined space...) and not any major urban areas at all. Stockholm is not very big in comparison to London or a continental capital city... It's reasonably flat compared to the Caucasus, but that didn't stop the Viggen pilots of old from using terrain masking tactics! Child's play, compared to zooming out over the sea at 10m in search of Soviet ships... 3
Rmnsvn Posted May 26, 2022 Posted May 26, 2022 (edited) Seeing Baltic states in DCS would be great. There was/are plenty of airfields built during Cold War Edited May 29, 2022 by Rmnsvn 4

Ask Heatblur they once had such an idea (especially during the release of Viggen) , unfortunately, maps for DCS appear very rarely. It is a very long process, it takes several years from the idea. Now it will be Afghanistan, maybe 2H of 2023, I guess.
