I keep trying every time i run DCS and I can't use it for more than five minutes. In its current state I prefer to use Nevada.

During this period, taxiway "Gulf" was not even a thing, and you could only taxi to runway 05 via taxiway "Foxtrot" (the south taxiway).

We have to wait until 2011 to see all the new aprons on the north of the runway:

Another hint: the building of Nimroz Airport (OANZ) started in late 2011. In the 2008-2010 period, Zaranj Airport (OAZJ) in the center of the city was the only existing runway in the vicinity.

We have to wait until 2013 to see the works on the runway. Before that, it was just an empty stretch of sand...

So my question is: do you still intend to represent the 2008-2010 period? And if so, will such anachronisms be corrected in the future?

approximately:

3 months is In DCS language (if people were focused only on that), this usually means about 4 months - which translates to 6-12 months due to the resources scheduling... in short, TWO MORE WEEKS^TM

Yes, that is the correct answer. From my research, the map is from 2016-2018, so it is not current either. It is definitely not anything before 2016, so those who think something will be added before that date are mistaken.

They weren’t asking for things from before that date to be added, they were asking for things from after the stated date to be removed. 

Can’t see it happening though. 

Although I’d love to see it as a map that straddles the eras of the USSR / USA occupations, I guess we have to accept that DCS is currently aimed at the Western consumer, and most of them want to fly the most modern aircraft in the most recent conflict. 
 

That means Western bases approaching fully fleshed, not late era Soviet bases and the first iterations of Western bases.

The map is supposed to have some changes, but it's hard to say what. There is no next part, it will probably appear only after these changes, but I also don't know when. Maybe with the November patch, because the release took place in June, so we have 5 months since then to work on it, something should finally appear, probably in the next patch, this month (but patch, not the new part I suppose).

As it happens I did a sightseeing tours mission yesterday and took an F1 BE for a 90 cruise around.  The interior is mega hilly, with loads of ravines and rolling hills.  Would be a brilliant place to setup an Afghan Mach Loop

Cinsiderring latest Afghanistan update, In case I own only west part and deicide to purchase new east part, does it start downloading the textures or are they already downloaded for everyone and purchase just unlocks them?

It was a fairly big download and install.  Still, that's why we buy big SSDs!

Did you get the east part or do you own the whole map? If so, Is your install 132gb?

All of it.

Infact I've just flown a 3 hour carrier mission on it.  Couldn't even find the target, but what the hell.  Lovely flight, great scenery and got to watch the sunset again after tanking.

Yup, my Afghanistan terrain folder is 132 GB for the full version (so Southwest and East thus far).

Makers are most likely waiting for more stuff to get settled. "New" maps when they get patched most likely move stuff around which can mess with missions. For example when Syria launched, every patched added/removed cities/towns to make it more accurate.

Currently a lot of areas that are not around an airfield are not accurate.

Yeah I was panning on getting the full terrain (even though I served in the Eastern portion), because that's what seems the best option for me.

LOL … say only the very small percentage of DCS player who can regularly carve > 4 or 5 hours out of their lives to fly a single mission without precipitating an end to their relationship & a custody battle.

Majority of players don't touch the tankers. If they did the tankers would get more attention from the devs
