Why is the moon so big?

On a flight last night (Kola) the moon was unrealistically large, i.e. twice the size of the Sun.  It should be around 30 MOA, same as the Sun.

Feel free to move this where appropriate, not sure if the moon is a terrain-specific thing or not.

that doesn't change anything in DCS. Also, it's bigger than the sun even when the sun is on the horizon. Something is definitely off

Reason I ask was my buddies and I experienced this very thing the other day.  The moon was setting and looked immense.  I'll see if I can find the recording.  It was on Syria.

The Moon size got bigger, over 3 times the Sun apparent size.

Moon is not just BIG... MOON IS STARWARS <profanity> RIGHT NOW! 🤣
Flying the last mission paradise Lost in Guam takes you to another planet.

Actually the moon hangs in the middle of the island as  a HUGE flat image that you can actually pass through. So, it's not only the size but the position of the moon sprite in the map.

What's date and time set in that mission? I'd love to experience the death star myself but don't own the campaign 🙂 .

It seems to be at 6:35. Probably they've switched some axis on the moon sprite position, so instead of moving up in the sky, it moves towards the center of the map (X axis instead of Z axis) who knows... In a previous mission 6:15 is even more crazy

Awwwww..... built a mission on Guam with parameters as above, but the hillarious megamoon was not there. Shucks 😄 . Only the somewhat enlarged standard one. There must be something else in "Paradise Lost" pumping it up THAT much. Oh well, thanks anyway!

I'm playing strict VR only. For a very long time the Moon was always to small. Now it actually matches much more the size of a real full moon that i can see once every ~4 weeks in real life.

Definitely not. But the sun on your end can look smaller by gamma and brightness settings. On my end the sun is blinding with a huge flare if i look directly into it. Kind of realistic, but not the ultimate best solution. There are also differences on dusk and dawn, which look also okay on my end.
