Bump. Sorry, people usually look only last page. :) Btw, I'm not in any way connected to Thrustmaster / Guillemot, other than being their customer. :P

Pasted images from Amazon together. Nice box art, and almost readable. So, another month and a half of waiting... But it looks like it will be worth it. Although I must admit I'm looking forward to try the TARGET on Cougar first.

I changed my preorder from Amazon to SimWare, I'd save very little but according to the dates I'll have it about a week earlier than from Amazon so a no brainer.

You are therefore volunteering for INITIAL REVIEW duty then

I don't think those pre-order dates matter much. All of these companies ship them whenever they get them in.

Exactly why you should stick with your first pre-order shop. ;)

They say practice makes perfect so I'm going to start practicing bursting through the door and into the apartment with a similar sized box screaming "I won this in a contest!".

I doubt it will support USB 3. USB 3 makes no sense purely as an interface for HIDs, as data rates can easily be coped with by USB 2. USB 3 was mainly developed to deliver greater bandwith for use with external storage devices. Note also that USB 3 will employ a different type of connector compared with USB 2. The two are not directly compatible (they are with the use of an adaptor, though).

Good, fast, cheap. Choose any two.

A joystick can operate with USB1 without bogging down the bandwith. The computer simply polls the joystick periodically and a few bytes are sent back and forth. The bandwith used is practically nothing compared to other devices like a memory stick or a printer.

LOL - that depends on how large the uploaded programming files are.

j/k!

Edit: They are downward-compatible. You can use an USB3 cable for a USB1/2-connection, but when using an USB2-cable to connect a USB3-device, you will only be able to use USB2.

Interesting. I erroneously confused the usb 3 conector with something else. Now i just have to find out what the other thing is :)

This is a schematic of the USB 3.0 connector:

usb-3_0.jpg

As you can see there are 5 additional contacts added to the rear. The forward four connectors stay the same.

USB 3.0 cables are more expensive because of the additional wiring, but since they are also used for high-speed connections, they are usually better shielded. I use 2 USB 3.0 cables for that reasons and found them to be more stable than the standard USB 2.0 cable.
