EagleEye Posted February 18, 2013 Posted February 18, 2013 Maybe I'm just blind but lost track of the 1.2.3 update thread. Did it disappear? Last I heard was all was well and they were building the release package. That was a week ago today. Did they run into more problems in the mean time? :dunno::pilotfly::music_whistling: I think you are looking for this one: Preliminary DCS Change Log 1.2.3 http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=99109 AFAIK there is no news since WAGS entry from February 11st. EtherealN Posted February 18, 2013 Posted February 18, 2013 Fact is, they did not say estimated even with micro-small letters... Seriously now, please use your brain and THINK for a moment. FC3 was announced with a feature list. YOU, in the pluralis sense of the collective community, cried out and said "we want more". ED said "okey, we'll give you more." Are you seriously, for real, attacking Eagle Dynamics for listening to it's customers? Really? And what does that have to do with 1.2.3? Loki_ Posted February 18, 2013 Posted February 18, 2013 Neither, nor. I prefer ED do not promise something they can not hold. And the point is they did it twice already... Fact is, they did not say estimated even with micro-small letters... Hey Rhinox this is all much easier if you just jump on the fanboi bandwaggon. Its all good brah! You should be happy to give ED money because they are the only ones producing this quality level combat flight sim on the market. Direct the hate at EA or Ubisuck mon, aint nobody got time for that
Hamblue Posted February 18, 2013 Posted February 18, 2013 It has been anoying but as several have noted before, the damage control is necessary and will be worth it in the long run. Only problem I see is we keep getting told that the beta is being tested etc etc. Last I checked is that FC3 is in beta. And since the FC3 beta is affecting the A-10C /KA-50 multiplayer, they are also included in the beta. That said, since we're all in beta why not release the beta to all of us to test it? or at least give us the choice to participate in helping with the beta until FC3 is officiall released. That way people would see what is happening and be able to provide even more feedback covering many more configurations. Some think that we just like to complain, but we simply want the product to succeed and not fail becuase of something basic in the industry. The answer isn't however sending warnings to those who are pointing out the obvious. Anyhow, still enjoying 1.2.2 while waiting for the next release. Rotorhead Posted February 18, 2013 Posted February 18, 2013 (edited) OK, guys, this is already getting too far, don't you think? I am looking forward for 1.2.3 as much as anyone else around here and I can certainly understand the impatience of others, but please, pointless ranting leads nowhere... I'll repeat what I already said: You can eiher wait for a stable version, or get a bugged one now (or two months ago), and then wait for a fix anyways. So what's the matter? In fact, 1.2.0 and 1.2.2 versions brought only problems to me. Therefore, I'd prefer the new version to be solid, stable, and extensively tested, even if it takes some time, rather than already having another broken one. ED is actually kind to us when they are giving us estimates and development updates. Yes, the problem with estimates is that they are sometimes wrong, but still, ED will release their products as soon as they are done (even prior planned release, theoretically). Look at the mainstream game devs. Unlike ED, they are announcing a fixed release dates about 9 or more months before actual release. It means, that release date must be hugely overestimated just in the case something gets wrong. Even if they finish the game long before that date, you have no chance to get your hands on it prior release day. And if they're late, they'll release a rushed, unfinished game just for the sake of making it in time. So these are the pros and cons of fixed release vs. when-it-is-done release. Choose your own. It will be two months this week that this patch was announced.. TWO MONTHS! Then try waiting for three months for the G940 FFB fix... :noexpression: Edited February 18, 2013 by Rotorhead
upupandaway Posted February 18, 2013 Posted February 18, 2013 No offense to anyone, but what´s the point of continuously discussing all this? It´s not going to have any impact whatsoever. And what does Duke Nukem have to do with DCS just because somethings 2 months late? Is Gearbox gonna take over development and turn DCS into a F2P MMO with planes or add flying aliens with missiles? :D Seems many good threads ends up here after a while. Rhinox Posted February 18, 2013 Posted February 18, 2013 Seriously now, please use your brain and THINK for a moment. FC3 was announced with a feature list. YOU, in the pluralis sense of the collective community, cried out and said "we want more". ED said "okey, we'll give you more." So it was us (community) who caused this multiple-month delay? We (cit.) "cried out" and that's why you (ED) cancel planned release??? And what does that have to do with 1.2.3? You (ED) announced release of DCS:FC3 for September/2012 and you did not hold the promise. You (ED) announced release of FC3 1.2.3 patch and you did not hold the promise. Still see no difference?
Arrowhead Posted February 18, 2013 Posted February 18, 2013 All that happens is that ED stop giving estimates, or stop giving updates about any modules that are coming. It will be no news, until they are ready to launch. And then we will have people complaining about lack of info instead. In this case that actually would have been better. Then I wouldn't be wasting my time refreshing the forum every day this week waiting for what I thought was an imminent patch. I'd be surfing SimHQ or something instead and and one day be simply pleasantly surprised... Intel i9 12900K ROG Ryujin II Hydro Cooler PNY GeForce RTX 5090 OC EpicX 64GB RAM DDR5-6000
EtherealN Posted February 18, 2013 Posted February 18, 2013 (edited) So it was us (community) who caused this multiple-month delay? We (cit.) "cried out" and that's why you (ED) cancel planned release??? Community said they want more features. ED said okey. Examples of additional features: Su-27 model. Su-27 pit. Su-25 pit. A-10A pit. MiG-29S TWS mode. shall I continue? You (ED) announced release of DCS:FC3 for September/2012 and you did not hold the promise. The community wanted additional features. ED is delivering. Thus, instead of a release as features was at the point, a pre-purchase beta was given while said requested features are added. Which specific part of this are you upset about? You (ED) announced release of FC3 1.2.3 patch and you did not hold the promise. Still see no difference? Actually, no, incorrect. Let me put it like this for you: aside from some work that remains to be done on A2A missile AFM, you have had what was "promised" for months already. Are you seriously complaining about getting more at no extra charge? ;) Edited February 18, 2013 by EtherealN [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] Daniel "EtherealN" Agorander | Даниэль "эфирныйн" Агорандер Intel i7 2600K @ 4.4GHz, ASUS Sabertooth P67, 8GB Corsair Vengeance @ 1600MHz, ASUS GTX 560Ti DirectCU II 1GB, Samsung 830series 512GB SSD, Corsair AX850w, two BENQ screens and TM HOTAS Warthog DCS: A-10C Warthog FAQ | DCS: P-51D FAQ | Remember to read the Forum Rules | | | Life of a Game Tester
ENO Posted February 18, 2013 Posted February 18, 2013 No offense to anyone, but what´s the point of continuously discussing all this? It´s not going to have any impact whatsoever. I'm sorry- but people discuss things ALL THE TIME that don't have any impact on anything. Politics, death, religion, taxes, Russian meteors... Discussion is natural and without it I dare say forums wouldn't exist. As for my contribution to the patch "discussion" I half wish that FC3 / CA would have been brushed off and brought out of their beta states before being migrated with the world environment... But I imagine they had to do it that way for a reason. "ENO" Type in anger and you will make the greatest post you will ever regret. "Sweetest's" Military Aviation Art
159th_Viper Posted February 18, 2013 Posted February 18, 2013 So it was us (community) who caused this multiple-month delay? Exactly right, yes! You (ED) announced release of DCS:FC3 for September/2012 and you did not hold the promise. You (ED) announced release of FC3 1.2.3 patch and you did not hold the promise. Still see no difference? As regards the release, it was. What exactly is the difference between the Beta and a final release in any event, especially if one has regard to all the bleating for added features? You have the SIM so enjoy it. Tired of waiting for a patch? Get over it already. It has been reasonably explained why the delay is happening. Unfortunate, yes, but reasonable. If you have an issue with reasonableness then that's your problem. Again, best advice would be to get over it, pause and smell the roses - will do wonders for your well-being. Hamblue Posted February 18, 2013 Posted February 18, 2013 First of all, this thread is now in the Chit Chat section which has a comment "what relates but doesn't fit in" Should pretty much sum up how this discussion is seen so the rants should be ok. :megalol: As far as announcements, ED does it because it's what companies that want to survive do. They are in competition with other sims, and if they don't announce what they are doing, the community sometimes thinks the product has gone to sleep. Same with fixes (looking back it the network issue started around April of last year or earlier). Most software has come and gone in that time frame. I personally was given a warning back in may of last year for critizing releasing more features before fixing core multiplayer issues. (also because I did it a bit harshly) It's like the needle in the haystack. Finding it is hard but if you keep throwing on more hay it becomes harder (or even adds more needles). Continuing to release more features (incuding 1.2.3) without first fixing the issues just makes it worse (more hay). Asus Sabertooth P67 Motherboard 2600k CPU, 16 gig DDR3, 1600.
