Hey there Pilots,

Yesterday I was sitting in my A-10C Cockpit, beginning the Mission on the Ramp. It was raining and it was a quite nice Athmosphere. But then I thought that it is somehow strange that the rain is not taking any effect on the Canopy once I closed it.

So to go further, I really would like to see raindrop getting pushed back along the canopy while rolling and gaining speed on the runway...or raindrops taking effect on the canopy at all.

I have an example for what I am talking about.

So please watch the Video below starting from 0:35 seconds on to see what I mean...

I don't know whether this is basically and at all possible and if, how much performance would it cost...but it nonetheless would be an freaking awesome feature.

Would be nice.

Wipers is Ka-50 will become usefull. Also rain effect on Shkval would be nice to make Shkval wiper usefull.

DCS A-10C is only for enthertaiment??? Not for me.

JDAM manual is classyfied??? Not for me.

Lies sounds like a truth??? Not for me.

Knowlege is for kids??? Nope, its for me.

That is something which was asked here from LOMAC (pre Flamming Cliffs) era.

I actually like how effect is done in ROF, looks super awesome there.

Simulating fogging of the canopy in the appropriate conditions would be cool as well.

It would be nice to have rain/ snow fall, as drops/ flakes, etc over an entire area (yes, including on the canopy) like it does in RL :)

It only takes two things to fly, Airspeed and Money.

I agree! This would also increase the "cozy" factor when you're simply flying in a rainy weather.

Speaking of bad weather; do anyone knows what happens if a jet is struck by lightning? Is it affected at all?

At the very worst, a lightning strike would take out some avionics or an antenna. Most strikes result in only small burn marks that are easily repaired. The current just flows around the aircraft and continues on it's path to the cloud.

EDIT: The above is true if the surface of the aircraft is conductive and the static dissipation system is working properly. Composite aircraft need special conductive paths built into the surface to not explode.

I only respond to that little mechanical voice that says "Terrain! Terrain! Pull Up! Pull Up!"

Ask IvanK what happens - he's had a couple of strikes in different a/c over the years

I got popped a couple years ago. One hit caused 21 different burns into the airplane. Actually, we caused the discharge.

In this picture of a temp probe, you can see the electrical path.

I can't stress enough how the currect weather is an immersion breaker to me. The rain effect is so far below the DCS:W standard I can't understand how it hasn't been touched up yet.

Also when you look down you can see a line where any weather effects get cutoff and it just looks silly.

Looking forward to an update on these effects.

Flew the Shark in the snow for the first time the other night; now that is an awful, awful effect. The snow moves with your head movements! Real immersion killer...
