Have tried this a few times now and it seems pretty consistent. In mission editor I can hit targets nearly dead on accurate using CCIP with bombs and the CCIP is visibly responsive as expected. However, when I try the same thing in a multiplayer server, the CCIP symbology seems a lot less responsive and the bombs are way off from where the marker is. Pre-designation doesn't seem to make a big difference. Guns and rockets seem to work as expected in both.

Military Assets for DCS by Currenthill

That's right. Need to choose Ground Attack, Pinpoint Strike, Runway or Ship Attack task. -

Yeah fair enough, but the point generally holds, like even in 85 it was still fighting, F4's, starfighters, F5's etc as the average NATO jet. And handful of of 16A's that were doing strike stuff mostly. Again, I'd love it if we had the 23MLA in DCS but well that fell apart... Cuz that would be the good 80's scenario, bulk of the warpac jets some flavor of 23, with a sprinkiling of mig29's. And NATO the bulk, older jets with a sprinkling of "teen" jets. It was 90% done by Razbam, before "the troubles", it woulda been ready last year supposedly. But hey we got the 29 so lets focus on that, and making the most of it. I think it will evolve into a decent enough module given a bit of time. I'm personally curious about ED is gonna do GCI... Maybe AI GCI, that would be cool.

Operation Ilium, A new mini-campaign for the UH-1H

I was the pilot. -
To each his own, and to be perfectly honest, it's neither historically accurate nor advantageous to cold start a fast jet. The ground crew does it IRL. None of the mil pilots who fly DCS cold start their jets as far as I can tell because they didn't cold start their jets in the military. I never flew for the military, but I did fly light aircraft for a bit, and I had to both preflight, and cold start my (rented) 172 every time I flew it. For me a flight starts with a parked cold and dark aircraft, and ends with a parked cold and dark aircraft, preferably in the same spot. Mi-8 I believe is the hardest start sequence of any of the Helos, and is pretty high up there for any of the aircraft. It's the only thing I can think of where you need to jump to three different positions to cold start it in VR. Everything is in awkward positions. If you have it mapped to keyboard I'm guessing it's not the hardest, but in VR that thing is a beast and I love it (my neck on the other hand hates it.) You should consider cold starting each jet every once in a blue moon at least IMO. If you don't you aren't getting to enjoy the wonderful sound track that accompanies the unique start up sequence for each of these aircraft. It's the fidelity of the details that makes them such special models, and even the electric jets have their own idiosyncratic behaviors. Do fast alignments of course, but yeah, start them up every once in a while at least. Unless you just find it boring, in which case skip it. We do this for fun after all.

AMD Radeon not good after 2.9 patch

hello. you may have some other issues that can be fixed since this topic died 18 months ago. i suggest starting a new topic and attach your dcs.log. posting a reply disparaging the developers and ranting will get you noticed for the wrong reason. -
Same for me. About one out of five mission starts. Seems to be a damaged wing as trim doesn't help and hard g's makes it even worse. I haven't been able to replicate it yet. Just seems to be very random.

Tobii Eye Track 5 no longer working following latest update
sleighzy replied to 450Devil's topic in General Bugs
If you're running DCS from the bin-mt folder (I'm assuming this based on your mention of "multithread" so please correct me if I'm wrong) then you should switch to using the bin folder. They are both multithreaded now and are identical, and the bin-mt folder will be removed in the future. -
I think they were just intent on digitalizing the MiG-23 HUD, I mean it doesn’t show target speed or alt either without datalink. It was originally meant to get MiG-23 HUD but company that made ILS-31 said “it’s possible to make modern digital HUD, let us do it.” Then Su-27 is here and they decide to, (checks notes), add 24 different extra elements and upgrades to the HUD symbology lol

I am trying out different curves and saturation levels to see where the best sweet spot is for me, but still haven't nailed it. Wondering what everyone else has for their setup? Just curious to see what works for others. Let me know what you have for: Stick extension (if any) Saturation Y Curvature

These are some notes I was doing for myself prior to the module release. I was trying to sort out the whole AG thing in my head. Sources are a Machine translated version of Russian tactics manual, A Spanish language manual of unknown authenticity and Google translate of some pages of the Russian Tacitcs manual. The notes are preliminary. as more information come to light I might finalise and authenticate the info and describe the TOSS (Over the shoulder TOSS) in fact. Pilot wise not knowing exactly if you are going get CCIP or CCRP until pickle is a real pain. Though get the dive angle up and release airspeed as high as possible will give you greater chance of a known CCIP release. Computed Bombing MIG29 Theory The HUD moving reticle is limited to a 12deg (214mills) from the Aircraft axis (FRL ... or HUD design eye centre), so can indicate a computed release point up to 214mills below the FRL. This is the limit for CCIP operation. In Russian texts this is known as “Inside the visible zone” If the predicated impact point is more than 214mills below the FRL In Russian texts this is known as “In the invisible zone” the system reverts to CCRP. (Note if Russian ballistic tables with Aim Of Angle values were available you could actually find parameters that gave you an Aim of Angle < 214 mills therefore get a known CCIP delivery. At a pinch using MK84 ballistic tables might just give you some guidance) When dropping in Salvo the predicted impact is based on the first bomb of the stick. So to straddle a target the pilot must manually aim slightly short in both CCIP or CCRP. There are two variants of both CCIP and CCRP. The default is without wind or target motion compensation, and one with wind/target motion compensation. In the Russian texts the former is known as “without pre designation or the asynchronous method” and the later “with pre designation”. The designation process is time consuming and quite involved task wise for the pilot. The Russian technique manual recommends to only use the pre designation method if time permits. They further state that pre designation is not required if time constrained and or if the Wind is <5Msec (10Knots) Pre designation. The pilot rolls out and tracks the target with the aiming circle. He then presses and holds the throttle lock on button down for a minimum of 2 seconds whilst tracking the target. On release (Wind/motion correction is now applied and the aiming reference will move to indicate a wind/motion corrected impact point in CCIP). The pilot then has a 10 second window to initiate release. If a large correction was applied then the Aiming reticle will move significantly from the target. In CCIP you will then get a Displayed Impact line (DIL) extending upwards from the CCIP reticle, this will then indicate CCIP is the active mode. The pilot now flies the aiming symbol back to the target then pickles. If the pickle is not done inside 10 seconds the wind/motion correction is removed and the aiming reference is back to nil wind/motion. The Russian techniques manual states that the most accurate solution will be shown 4 secs after the lock on button is released. If little or no wind/motion correction is applied with Aim off angle close to the 214mill limit you will only know whether the system is in CCIP or CCRP mode when you pickle ! This is considered acceptable in the Russian techniques manual and is effectively a caution that you need to be ready that Bombs may drop immediately on pickle) If the system is in CCIP mode (<214mill depression) the bombs will drop immediately on pickle. If the computed impact point is >214 mill depression the system switches to CCRP mode. The Aiming reticle jumps to the top of the HUD and the steering G vector appears whilst holding down the pickle button fly the G vector line to intersect the centre of the steering dot. Time to release will be indicated by the time scale on the left side of the HUD. Immediately prior to release a tone will be heard. After all weapons released the HUD steering circle and G vector line will be removed. (Again the Russian techniques manual cautions that bombs might release immediately on pickle .. so if you think you are going to get CCRP be mindful the system might just decide its going to be CCIP ) Suggestion: Certainly for all dive deliveries plan and initially fly for a CCIP pass. If the system then decides its going CCRP then simply fly the steering symbology. So regardless of the method the system decides to use you press and hold the pickle button down with the reticle on the target then accept the delivery mode the system decides on. (personally I consider this a really strange design Human factors wise). The steeper the dive angle and higher the release speed the less the Aim off angle and hence the probability of getting a CCIP release. According to the manuals the system is good for dive angles up to 40degrees Laser once fired will stay on foe 30seconds unless turned off by the pilot.

Can you roll back to Caucasus before the update? Unplayable in VR...
dmatt76 replied to dmatt76's topic in DCS: Caucasus
I fly many different maps, I have deleted fxo/meta every now and then, but I've never noticed any difference with old fxo/meta and after deleting. However, I've noticed for the first time frame drop on Caucasus to the point, that Syria runs much better in VR, without any tree flickering -
Nice, thanks DP, I'll give that a try. I've just been watching Top Guns: The Next Generation and it inspired me to give mod this a try!

Some action on the CWGNTS: 1./JG71 had two different flights in the air today, and we had excellent ATC support on the server alongside. HG10 was a two-ship practicing Maverick and Gun employment on the Baumholder Range in ED-R1, while the three-ship HG13 went into the TRA205 to practice 2v1 ACM. Concidentally, all aircraft met at their homebase, which was an interesting sight to see five aircraft at once in the pattern. HG13 flight departing Buechel RWY03 as seen from the cockpit of HG10A. We are continuing to offer milsim squadrons and lone wolf pilots a virtual homebase to fly and practice on the CWGNTS and become a member of a community of pilots and ATC to create a living and breathing military air traffic network. Contact us via PM for further details.

1./JG71 "Richthofen" - Cold War, full-real [für deutsche Piloten]
Volator replied to Volator's topic in Jets Squadrons

Not sure what that means, but whatever works for you! With the Sidewinder you can move the stick to any position and then just let it go, and it will stay there (provided you haven't covered the sensor) since it only applies return to center forces when the sensor is covered. Not something I use often, but it can be useful as a sort of defacto auto trimmer in certain circumstances. You can just put the joystick into the position you want it to hold, and release quickly. It's a feature very unique to the Sidewinder, and again, I've had this particular joystick for over 25 years. I'm very used to everything it can do.
